I closed my account
I closed my account with Meta Betting (Clarkson Bell Ltd, trading as Regency Betting Group) months ago, but the marketing emails never stopped. I've received over a dozen unsolicited marketing emails since closure — a clear breach of PECR and UK GDPR rules on direct marketing to closed accounts.
I contacted them directly to tell them the emails needed to stop. Days later, the marketing emails continued regardless. This isn't a one-off system glitch — it's a sustained pattern of non-compliance that persisted even after they were told in writing.
Companies House confirms Nichola Aitken as sole director of Clarkson Bell Ltd, and she's also on record publicly as owner/Managing Director of Regency Betting Group, the parent brand behind Meta Betting, Telephone Betting, Betreg, and Regency Racing. As the person ultimately responsible for the group, I'd expect basic data protection compliance to be a priority — clearly it isn't.
I've had no choice but to escalate this formally to the ICO and the Gambling Commission (licence 61486). Would not recommend this operator to anyone who values their data being handled properly.
