The Op-Duostat RF room thermostat
I bought their Op-Duostat RF room thermostat and regretted it. The instructions are on three pages. One page described "What is a programmable room thermostat". This took a whole page to describe the blindingly obvious in exhaustive detail. What the instructions don't tell you is what the receiver lights mean. They don't tell you what the abbreviations used stand for. This made it impossible to fault find except by trial and error. What is the Load light? And what does it tell you? Should it be on or not? Should it flash or not? There is no light to tell you whether the thermostat is calling for the boiler to be on or off. Or is there? Who knows? What does the override button do exactly? One click does one thing but a second click does something else but what? There is no light to tell you that the transmitter and receiver are communicating correctly. I looked to see if lights changed when I set the thermostat temperature very high then very low. The lights didn't change. I looked on the internet but without success. A YouTube video said I should bring the transmitter and receiver close together and do something but this meant taking the thermostat off the wall. But these instructions were for a later or earlier model with different coloured lights arranged in a different order. I was reluctant to do this because the instructions were either absent or confusing. After a few hours of cursing, swearing and experimenting with trial and error it seems to be working OK. The battery cover/retainer is a very poor fit and it requires a special knack to replace the batteries. The thermostat as it is, is not fit for purpose. It needs significant redesign and adequate instructions.
