I really didn’t want to have to write a negative review about a local business, but unfortunately I feel I have no choice after the experience we’ve had.
Last year we purchased a bed and mattress from here for £750, which at the time seemed like a great deal. However, almost immediately we could feel the springs digging into our backs. We assumed it just needed time to settle and rotated it as advised. Less than a year later the mattress had completely sunk and was unusable.
During the last 6 weeks while this has been ongoing, my partner has been sleeping in what is literally a hole in the mattress and has ended up with severe back pain because of it, which has made the whole situation even more stressful.
I contacted the shop and was initially told it could be replaced under warranty. Robert arranged to come out to inspect it, which I found odd as I had already sent photos and proof of purchase by email. During the visit he agreed there was clearly a fault with the mattress. However, he then pointed out a small sweat stain and said this meant he couldn’t replace it under warranty after all. He said he would check what he could do and left.
Two weeks passed with no update, so I chased. I explained I had professionally cleaned the stain with a carpet cleaner. He came out again and this time offered a replacement — but to my amazement, the “replacement” mattress was a previous customer’s old mattress that had been left outside, was damp, and smelt. I genuinely couldn’t believe this was being offered as a solution.
To be fair, he did later return and swap back to the original broken mattress after I refused the damp one. After more back-and-forth, we agreed he would do me a deal on a new mattress if I came into the shop to choose one.
When I went to the shop, Robert was on holiday skiing. His sister was there and said only he could authorise any deal, and that they would call me during the week with a price. I never received anything, and the whole situation has left me with zero confidence in the business.
I’m now having to spend another £700 elsewhere just to get a proper mattress with a legitimate warranty and peace of mind.
My advice would be to avoid. What seems like a good deal initially may not be worth it when something goes wrong, and trying to resolve issues has been frustrating and disappointing from start to finish. As you can see from the photos, this has been a very disappointing experience.
