Written by the company

The Dinner Detective is America's largest interactive true crime mystery comedy dinner show! Solve a hilarious and engaging mystery while you feast on a fantastic dinner. Just beware! The killer is hiding somewhere in the room, and you may find yourself as a Prime Suspect! Our show is very different from traditional true crime mystery dinner shows. We will hide non-costumed actors in the audience that are pretending to be part of the crowd. This results in a much more social and interactive evening than with other shows. Our shows are set during the present day and take place in real time. Over the course of the night, our costumed Detectives will uncover clues, interrogate audience members that may or may not be part of the show, and help everyone get closer to solving the mystery.

Not recommended

First, the website said no jeans and saw a lot of people in jeans. They weren’t turned away like the website said. The men in our party wore dress pants for this reason. To me the show was very unorganized. Had no clue what the show was about and lack of details about the “murder”. Couldn’t hear the actors, so unable to pick up on clues. Need microphones!! Have done murder mystery dinners before and I would not recommend this one.

Thank you for sharing your feedback — we truly appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience.

To clarify, our website does not prohibit jeans. The exact dress code listed reads:

“Our dress code is business casual/dressy casual unless otherwise noted in the show description. Think appropriate attire for a Saturday night out on the town! Nice jeans are fine. No shorts, t-shirts, or hats are allowed.”

We’re sorry for any confusion this may have caused and will review our messaging to ensure it’s as clear as possible.

As for the show experience, we’re disappointed to hear that the sound and storyline weren’t up to your expectations. Our shows are designed to be interactive, with guests encouraged to piece together clues from dialogue, interactions, and evidence presented throughout the evening. That said, audibility is essential — we’ll be revisiting the audio setup at your venue to ensure all guests can hear comfortably.

We appreciate your input and will use it to continue improving. Thank you again for joining us and sharing your thoughts.
