Don’t attempt to have an I-pad screen replaced by this shop

My mistake - this review is for Fone City, Spencer St, St Albans. They may be ok on repairing phones, and indeed satisfactorily replaced the screen on my I-phone a couple of years ago, but when I took a cracked I-pad screen in recently, the one they replaced it with did not work at all well- the screen kept freezing once it had been in use for some minutes. When I went back to complain, I was told that I was pressing too hard. A likely story! I pressed more lightly but it made no difference. On talking about this to an IT expert, I was told that small shops like this one don’t use actual Apple screens for their repairs but buy in cheap screens from China which are known to behave like this one did. I went back to the store to complain again, and they reluctantly agreed to replace the dud screen with another new one. I have no idea whether they actually did so, because the same thing happens: the screen freezes, especially down the central part of it, rendering the whole I-pad difficult, if not impossible, to use. I have now given up and have had to buy a completely new genuine I-pad, sacrificing the £80 I paid for the replacement. I won’t be going back to Fone City.

Went far beyond the call of duty

Having been told that my data could not be extracted from my dead phone, by 2 shops, I was amazed and delighted that the manager of this shop took considerable time and trouble to decant all my data into a new phone by dint of extremely inventive and fiddly alchemy.
He gave my life back !!!
All in all, I couldn't recommend this business more.
