Not able to get a refund
The General Classification offers tote bags in two sizes: 7oz canvas (40x38cm) and 12 oz canvas (50x40cm). I purchased a set of 3 World Tour 7oz canvas tote bags as a gift for my niece who loves tote bags. It was fortunate that I was at home to receive the bags as I had no delivery notification from either General Classification or Yodel, the delivery company.
After opening the tote bags I realised that the 7oz canvas is not as thick as my niece's usual tote bags. The size of the 12oz canvas is too large since my niece is quite petite. I requested a return and refund for the tote bags. I received the information on return address after a couple of attempts of contacting General Classification. However, to my surprise, I was told that the tote bags were in the sample sale and could not be refunded.
Had I realised that sale items could not be refunded, I would not have purchased these bags. I believe the Consumer Protection Law states that if the sample sale is hosted online and I purchase without seeing the items in person, standard distance selling rules apply. I have 14 days from delivery to cancel and return the items for any reason. It is very disappointing that General Classification did not response to my request for a refund based on the Consumer Protection Law.
It has been an unpleasant shopping experience with General Classification. The customer service and communication is poor hence I will not be purchasing from this company again in the future.
