Portion sizes have clearly shrunk

Visited this place on Sunday, 15.03.2026. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. The customer service was rude, unfriendly, and unnecessarily aggressive. I simply asked to replace a green salad with hummus and was met with an absurd reaction, as if I’d asked for gold. Completely unprofessional and bizarre behavior. On top of that, portion sizes have clearly shrunk. Bad attitude, small plates, zero hospitality. Will not be returning.

Poor quality sticky soy noodles

Bought sticky soy noodles in supermarket. Really poor quality product, 90% noodles with some very limp vegetables. A very incomplete and unbalanced meal, no protein content like tofu/nuts/legumes with exception of few chopped green beans. Have tried a few of their meal products before, same disappointment. I left it out for the crows.

Poor value and not as described

I bought a chick pea curry at great expense. Very disappointing! No chickpeas in it! Happy Pear you should be ashamed at producing such a poor standard I won’t be buying this brand again.

The cost of two lasagne's and two…

The cost of two lasagne's and two shepherdless pies from SuperValu this weekend was €24 and we were expecting something special
But we all were so disappointed, we have had virtually the same meals for €0.99 cents from Tesco
We feel ripped off
We tried to contact them directly but we being told to contact the site administrator because there is an issue
We believe it is because our form contains negative comments
They are the most basic of foods , the ingredients lacked quantity and flavour
At that price they should be ashamed

I paid 45€ and I hated the food and on top of that drinks was not include, not really worth it. Also my female friend was trying flirt with Dave and Dave was the same with her. So I felt very uncomfortable having two monkeys trying to intimacy in front of me and in front of Dave family, what Sabrina should think about this woman called Gemma Savill who was in the dinner just to intimacy with Dave ? :o LOL

The happy gut course was sadly a waste of money. All the recipes can be found in their books and the advice that goes along side the course is very basic. I was sadly disappointed and definitely wouldn’t recommend this course to anybody.

Happy Gut Course

I have just finished the Happy Gut Course. It filled a much needed function for me, in that due to having IBS I was keen to go low fodmap, but still wanted to eat tasty food. Going low fodmap is pretty challenging, and having someone just tell you what to do in terms of meal plans and recipes made life much easier. Most of the recipes were really very tasty, with an asian focus and it was fun learning how to make new things and reinvent old stale kitchen habits. Also after some practice I was able to apply some of the principles to our old recipes to make them gut friendly (like using fresh ginger and leek greens instead of garlic and onion).

However, I do have some suggestions for improvement -
1. the app is poorly designed, often crashes and is not easy to navigate.
2. There are inconsistencies in the writing style, measurements (sometimes by weight and sometimes by amount) and most importantly between the shopping lists and the recipes. Also some of the recipes serve 6 or 7 people while others only serve 2-3! Ironing this out would give it a more professional feel and make it easier to use.
3. There are still a lot of ingredients that are uncomfortable to a sensitive gut within the recipes such as beans, lentils, broccoli etc. I realise that they have been specifically measured by portion, but for many of these 'gassy' ingredients any at all is trouble for a sensitive gut!
4. You are basically left to figure out the reintroductions yourself rather than given recipes which cater to it specifically which I think is a bit of a shame. It would be good to have baseline recipes, but also 're-introduction' recipes.

So overall, I would say it was a positive experience for me - it did make my gut happier and I haven't come across anything else that offers this kind of thing. Some of the recipes are exceptionally delicious, and I have impressed my partner and guests with them. However, I think for the money the user experience could be further improved by connecting the dots and tidying up the loose ends. My rating reflects averaging the course structure at 3/5 and food at 5/5.

We have followed the Happy Pear on-line…

We have followed the Happy Pear on-line and from afar (Australia), and have some of the books, which are well used and enjoyed. Having a rare opportunity to travel through Dublin, I choose to call in to The Happy Pear Cafe in Terminal 1 at the airport. When I arrived there was a queue of about 8 people. The staff were overwhelmed and did not seem to know how to manage. One person seemed to be doing nearly everything whilst others floated about. Other customers couldn’t order their choice of Buddha Box, there was a 10 minute wait for food to be heated up. One guy had the Burrito box, and was told, “sorry, no burrito crisps, we ran out”. I had the Mexican wrap, not cheap but I was looking forward to quality ingredients. Was “ok”, nothing to write home about. Oliver’s in Australia is better. On to dessert. The sweet treats were open on the counter, right where people pay, put there bags, cough etc. I took a chance and chose a coconut bar and the assistant partially wrapped a napkin around it and plonked it straight down on the counter, where the bags, purses, etc are all placed, urgh! I ordered a Soy Latte, “sorry no Soy”, run out. Instead I was offered dairy milk? Is it just me or is that odd for a vegan cafe - surely? Seating was ‘adequate’ but only if not too many customers, and wasn’t very comfortable. Overall I was disappointed, I had high expectations. Things seemed to pick up when a supervisor arrived and gave some basic hygiene instructions, “don’t spray the counters” - (where the food is!) and got folks busy. Come on guys, you have a gap to fill between expectations and reality.
