Written by the company

The People's Orchestra (TPO) is a UK registered charity that runs community music-making across three streams: The People's Orchestra itself (Cerddorfa'r Bobl in Wales), The People's Show Choirs (TPSC), and The People's Big Band (TPBB). Founded in 2012 and headquartered at West Bromwich Town Hall, it has grown into one of the country's largest community music organisations, with members playing and singing everything from film and game scores to musical theatre and show tunes, no audition or musical experience required. What sets TPO apart is its explicit "no auditions, no pressure" ethos paired with a genuine social mission: members consistently report real gains in confidence, mood, and connection since joining, and the charity runs practical support alongside the music, including a benefits advice service that has unlocked significant income for members in need. It has been recognised with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service and backed by Arts Council England and the National Lottery Community Fund. TPO performs at prestige venues including Birmingham's Symphony Hall, and its membership fees are among the lowest in the UK community choir and orchestra market, undercutting every major commercial competitor. At its core, TPO is less a performing arts group than a wellbeing and belonging organisation that happens to make music together.

The most fun ever without alcohol!!

I joined People’s Show Choir on its first night in Walsall and have not been disappointed yet. Chris is a fabulous, inclusive and all round amazing choir leader who makes the evening feel like a night out. Claire is the one who cares for us all making sure we all have what we need.
Having the performance opportunities has been out of this world and the fact that it is accessible to my dad who comes along despite his disabilities. In my absence he is cared for and I am secure that he is enjoying his time at the same time as being able to engage in the learning is reassuring.
If you’re in Walsall, love a sing along, love meeting genuinely friendly people and having an all round enjoyable time, join TPSC. You will not regret it

A real sense of community

There is a real sense of community in the people’s orchestra and choir. Great arrangements of pop and musical songs and wonderful opportunities to perform in concerts like the recent Symphony hall show. Great fun at rehearsals and friendships formed. Would recommend joining it to anyone who loves singing or playing an instrument, and watching it if you love music!
