Poor Customer Service & Communication BUT Outstanding Desk

Updated: 15/04/26 Ryan called and apologised for the lack of communication & advised timings on the desk & a refund of £50.

Desk arrived 13/04 and I am VERY happy with the quality of the wood and build. Stunning piece! If it was based on the desk alone I would give a 5* rating.

No £50 refund received as yet though.

Still no response to reviews or further emails and left waiting on ‘chat’ for over an hour. I have now followed Morton’s example and started the chargeback process.

Ordered a desk 10 March, it was a 7 day turnaround. A week passed nothing so I contacted via email (as conveniently no phone number available!) Advised it would be made the following Tuesday and sent to the delivery team Thursday - nothing. Another email, another week and then ghosted. I don’t mind a delay providing I have a clear and realistic date for delivery. Very disappointed in the customer service and still no desk!

I'm really sorry for the delay and I completely understand the frustration. We're a small team and the workshop was closed over the bank holiday weekend. We had thought we set up an auto reply to let people know they would be responded to on our return.

I responded to you by email about your order on Tuesday and I've been awaiting a response, I can send a screenshot of this. You are correct in that we didn't reply over the weekend though.

Extremely Delayed Order - Finally Delivered

I placed my order (Order #3669) on 29th January, and as of today — mid‑March — I still have not received the desk. What has made this experience especially disappointing is the repeated pattern of missed promises and extremely slow communication.

Every time I contacted Rustic Grove via email or live chat, I was told the desk would be delivered “by Friday.” This happened week after week, yet no delivery ever took place. Even on chat, the wait times were often over an hour, and responses were inconsistent.

Here are just a few examples:

9 Feb: Told the desk would be in production and dispatched week commencing 23rd Feb.

21 Feb: Offered £30 compensation or a cable tray installation, but warned this might delay things further.

2 Mar: Told again it would be dispatched Thursday and delivered Friday.

9 Mar: Told it would leave on Thursday and be delivered Friday.

13 Mar: Still no delivery, and no contact from Proovia despite multiple assurances.

I’ve been patient for over six weeks, but the lack of reliable updates, repeated broken promises, and absence of proactive communication have made this a very frustrating experience. I had planned an office refurbishment around this delivery, and the delays have caused significant disruption.

I’m still waiting for a clear, confirmed delivery date — or at the very least, honest communication. At this point, I cannot recommend Rustic Grove based on my experience.

***Update on 25/03/2026

Ryan returned from vacation on 17 March and followed up with me promptly. After several discussions, the desk was delivered on 20 March. The product itself is solid, sturdy, and very well‑made. Ryan also offered £50 as a goodwill gesture for the delay, which I appreciate.

My only criticism is the communication earlier in the process — clearer and more consistent updates would have made the experience much smoother. Nevertheless, I’m happy with the final product and the resolution.

Simply stunning!!!

Simply stunning, I recently purchase a large Oak desk for my office. Having requested samples which arrived promptly I made my order and choose my desk. It arrived well packaged and the delivery people put it exactly where I wanted it. Later that evening I assembled it which was very simple and I have a truly wonderful desk to work from. Excellent finish to the desk and sold Oak the desk is stunning and a pleasure to work from. Highly recommended

The desk is of fantastic quality and I am very happy with it. No problem with it.

3 stars because I found the communication to be quite poor - I had to chase for updates on my order multiple times, and combined with the fact my order was 3 weeks late it was not what I expected given the price point.

I had also ordered the paid cable grommet upgrade, which was not provided to me. Whilst they have replied to my email asking for it, I have not received any confirmation that one is being sent to me.

We have been waiting over 6 weeks for a desk that was supposed to arrive within 2 weeks. We have had no active correspondence about the delay and it has massively impacted on the working space that we have been waiting to renovate once the desk arrives. It's an expensive product and we would have expected better and more accessible communication! We will hopefully get the desk at some point!

Long delays

We have been waiting close to 3 weeks for the table to arrive and it has still not been dispatched despite saying delivery in 7 days. It has really impacted my work and would not have ordered would I have known.

It is a real shame as the product looks to be exactly what we wanted, just hoping it arrives soon and is of good quality.

Edit: I received the table and very happy with it. The owner of the company reached out, explained the delays and provided a monetary gesture of goodwill. As a business owner I know things don't always go to plan and I appreciate the efforts to resolve.

Beautiful desk, worth the wait!

There were some delays in the desk arriving due to issues with their supplier, but I was made aware of that upfront when querying some changes to the desk I ordered.

I was always able to get a quick response on the status of my order, and I have to say the quality of the desk was absolutely worth the wait.

Should I need another in the future, I'll definitely be back! Highly recommend.

Some initial delay rectified with exceptional customer service

UPDATED 16 February 2026: Recommended! Following some initial delays, The Rustic Grove Co. have done everything within their power to rectify any concern, including updating the current lead time with their on-line store from 7 to 14 days. We are pleased with the table, exactly as expected from the images.

Took nearly four weeks to be delivered when it was supposed to be within seven days. I had to chase them for an update and they said it was a new line and they were having difficulties but were not specific. Messed up my Xmas plans. Would not use again.

Edit - Following this review the owner investigated the order, apologised and gave me a proper and true accounting of what had happened. A small refund was offered to me for the inconvenience which shows a level of commitment to customer care.

Great customer service from Ryan

I recently ordered a new desk from The Rustic Grove Co. There were initially some delays with delivery - although it was not the fault of the company, but an issue with their usual delivery partners. The desk eventually arrived in two parts (the desk and the legs). While the delivery process was a bit of a nightmare, Ryan at The Rustic Grove Co was communicative, friendly and patient throughout the entire ordeal, with regular updates and a real sense that he was going above and beyond to resolve the postage issue. The desk itself is perfect and exactly what I needed. It was exceptionally easy to setup, is sturdy and I would recommend the company to anyone in the market for a nice, new wooden desk.

Top company

Top company, had an issue with the colour when first arrived but the customer support was excellent, sorted it out that the replacement top and the original were exchanged at the same time so I didn't lose time on the pc, highly recommend

Great product and excellent service

I ordered a desk from The Rustic Grove having found them online searching for one the right size for my space. From the description it sounded exactly what I wanted, solid, well made and something that would last.

They contacted me on the day it was due to be despatched to let me know during quality checking while packing they noticed some marks they weren't happy with, so they were making a new one to send instead. To me this is fantastic service, I'd much rather a small delay and a perfect product than receiving something I might return.

When I did receive the desk it was well packaged and arrived safe and sound.

The desk has met all my expectations, it's a truly solid and quality looking piece of furniture. It was very easy to assemble and is a brilliant space to work. I don't think you would find better for the cost.

They have many options for finishes and sizes, so there is bound to be something for everyone. Highly recommend!

Brilliant Product and Excellent Customer Service

I placed an order for a 2400x800 Canterbury with a Rustic Oak finish desk and I couldn't be happier. The quality is amazing and is certainly much more sturdy than my previous desk.

Customer service was on point also. Its rare that a company will get in touch with YOU to provide updates and I find that I'm usually chasing down the company. When there was a slight delay, I was contacted and informed of the issue which was completely understandable. They wanted to make sure the quality of the wood they sourced was up to scratch to produce the desk.

I was also pleasantly surprised with the turnaround time for a bespoke desk and also the distance of the delivery (as Im based in Scotland) which didn't incur any additional cost!

I would certainly recommend this company if you want quality products, speedy turnaround time and fantastic customer service

Great desk, even better customer service

We ordered a desk from The Rustic Grove for everyday use, for two people working from home.

Once the desk arrived we were a little concerned that the finish was not hard wearing enough for everyday use. Having expressed our concern to the team, we received an excellent detailed response from Ryan helping us to choose a new hard wax oil based finish which is much better suited to our needs.

As well as the great and timely response, we also received a very generous offer to swap out the top free of charge for one with a different finish. We had also decided by this stage that we could do with a bigger size, and the guys offered us this new size at no extra cost, as a gesture of goodwill.

It is very rare to find companies today that offer such personal, empathetic customer service, and I would recommend them to anyone who asks.

We are very happy with our new beautiful custom desk, made from gorgeous wood.

Great products, superb customer service!

I have used The Rustic Grove Co. twice now, once for a desk, and a second time for 2 large shelves. Both times the products were of high quality and were packaged well.
There customer service is also great. I had an issue with my second order, and it was resolved promptly and the resolution exceeded my expectations.
I highly recommend The Rustic Grove Co to anyone looking for high quality products, and I will certainly use them again in the future!
