It's Summer at the moment

It's Summer at the moment. A time to visit your pubs, buy a drink and enjoy the outside in the sun, in your gardens. Unfortunately not at the Turks Head pub on a Saturday afternoon, despite the signs outside advertising it. No. The Turks Head close the entire garden on a Saturday afternoon (despite the incorrect advertising at the front) for a private function. Regular customers like myself are given a tiny 6 foot square sectioned off yard to passively inhale cigarette smoke. Its not good enough. Is the Turks a local pub or a private venue?

The food was absolutely awful

The food was absolutely awful. Asked for steak medium/rare, it was welldone, but the quality of meat was terrible, no steak knife given, mushrooms full of water, not even home cooked onion rings, the chef needs a talking too. Had to ask for salt and pepper for the table, then given 2 lots of pepper, my partner got chicken it was really dry, the service was just as bad. Not a clue what they are doing. No one came and asked us how the meal was, one woman rushed our order. I was too tired to even complain, looked liked they wouldn't care, Never going here again. Puckersley down the road is so much nicer.

Walked out

Wanted to give it zero stars as this was the first meal booking (bar/restaurant) I’ve ever walked out of. Booked a table from reviews but found the place to be less than expected. Being received and shown to your table like you are welcome, is not much a customer service stretch but it seemed the case on this occasion. After being sat at the table, assured that they would return to take a drinks order, some 25 minutes later (yes I am usually a very patient customer), I approached the bar ready to recognise that they were busy, but to nudge them of our presence and that we were still waiting to order drinks. Unfortunately, I stood for a further 5 minutes directly in front of the same person, with them focussed on the till, not once looking up, nor acknowledging my presence. If the experience by that point was an indication of their customer service levels, I took the decision to leave. Very disappointing, and the one bad experience during our short break at Weymouth.

Demoted to the cheap seats

Booked for a surprise party, booked well in advance (2 weeks) so surprised to be stuffed into the bar area on a mush mash of tables of differing heights and shapes.. One friend referred to her seating as the child's table, also it was not good access ability for the disabled member of our party who left early because of this! I challenged the seating but was told (politely.. Staff are lovely) that larger parties were needing the dining area.. Had I been told this on booking I would have looked elsewhere, I have a fear of dogs so would never ever book to eat in the dog friendly area (although to be fair no dogs in sight) very disappointed.. The food was very very good and staff were lovely but we definitely felt a bit second best x

Just avoid

Just avoid!

A dusty so called restaurant (definitely not a restaurant!!) with high end prices and below average food. But the worst part is staff, unprofessional, unwelcoming and rude.

I was served by a person who wore a tracksuit and a baseball cap. In a place where mains cost £20+. Seriously??

Food is always excellent, staff always brilliant

Been to the Turks Head several times now, always had a lovely experience.
Food is excellent, and staff consistently welcoming, warm and helpful. Nothing better than going there for a cosy meal by the fire after a long walk :)

Thank you Turks Head team for many lovely hours spent and great food and drinks!

Couldn’t review more highly!

From the excellent attention of water and a treat for our mutt, the free electric car recharging point to the excellent service and superb food, neither my friend nor I could find fault with this off-the-beaten-track pub. It was warm, inviting and clean. Beautiful nearby walks apparently brings many, but we visited on a cold, rain-sodden day and still it was quite busy but the attention from staff didn’t waiver. My friend, a vegan, found delicious items on the menu and I was literally spoilt for choice. We’ve already agreed to return.
