Hidden Gem

At the back of Bow village, near Crediton there is a hidden gem. Tile Kingdom is a very special ceramic warehouse with an excellent range of tiles, some of which are exhibited in their brand new display, which shows beautiful possibilities for all tastes.
Liam has a very friendly and professional approach and can think outside of the box, solving any potential problems. A very helpful person indeed.

Really bizarre experience

Really bizarre experience. Terrible customer service.

I needed 1 large format tile to fill a 1m2 gap in my floor and was trying to make a colour match.

Based on other's positive experiences with William, I emailed a photo of my floor to Tile Kingdom asking if I could order one of their large format tiles and return it if it wasn't suitable - I asked if it was possible to send me a few photos of the tiles and if I could request a specific tile pattern rather than have it randomly selected.

They replied reasonably quickly, but instead of offering me options, they just said that everything I was asking for was not possible. That photos are not a good way to choose tiles and I cannot return just 1 tile.

So, I asked if I could make a larger order of 10 tiles as I could use some more of them to make a feature wall (i.e. with the various patterns) and return any surplus. They told me not to proceed with the order as they would not be able to offer a refund on any returned tiles, in line with their policy.

I kept trying to offer solutions, trying to work with them, but they just refused Every. Single. Request. They just kept repeating the same sentence that they will not offer me a return and blah blah blah.

Even when I told them I have a large 100m2 project and would love to buy more of their tiles, they indirectly said they didn't want to do business with me.

They also refused to share their manufacturer details so I could get the tile directly from the manufacturer, even though I found the name on their website anyway.

I have never, ever, in my life dealt with a company that doesn't want to help a customer in any way whatsoever. Really odd.

And I expect they will reply to this message by repeating the exact same thing that they said in their emails to me. It's okay, I got the message. You tiles are not in your shop, you sell them direct from your warehouse, you cannot guarantee a specific tile pattern, you won't allow customers to select 1 tile out of an order and return the rest, you don't do returns on samples, you won't allow a return on part of an order.

EDIT: Having read Tile Kingdom's reply, I would add the following:

Yes, they did offer to help me find a tile that did not have a different pattern on each tile and I took them up on their offer. They then told me the only tile that would be suitable was a grey toned tile. My floor is brown as clearly shown in the photos that I had sent them! They also said this tile is currently out of stock and didn't bother to send me the link for it and wished me luck finding a resolution. So, it seemed quite dismissive. They didn't ask me when my project would start, i.e. when I needed the tile - maybe the tile would have come back in stock by the time I needed it?

When I said I thought they would want to help me out with the view I would return for repeat business for my 100m2 project, they replied "We appreciate that this may not be the outcome you were hoping for and hope you are able to find a suitable solution for your project." That is why I interpreted that they did not want my custom.

I just felt dismissed in every single email they sent. I felt they did not want to help me. Every email ended with "Please reply if you want information on the tile itself only".

I just hope that they take on board my comments and try and adjust their email responses and be more open and flexible to helping customers with complicated projects. Whilst they are professional and polite, they are also come across very dismissive and unwilling to help and just not open to suggestions or problem solving.

To clarify for anyone reading, this enquiry related to a large-format tile supplied with multiple random design faces and dispatched directly from the manufacturer. The tiles are factory-packed and we do not have visibility of individual faces within each box. In order to select a specific pattern, boxes would need to be opened and sorted, which would leave products unsealed and no longer in a saleable condition for future customers. For that reason, we are unable to guarantee or select particular faces from within a mixed-design range.

We also explained that photographs, whether supplied by us or taken in different lighting conditions, cannot reliably confirm colour suitability. The only accurate way to assess compatibility is to view the tile in person within the intended space.

Returns are handled strictly in line with our published policy. That policy is not intended to facilitate selecting between individual faces within a random-design product, and this was clearly communicated throughout the correspondence.

At no point did we refuse business. We offered to suggest alternative ranges that may provide greater design consistency and were transparent about the product limitations from the outset so that an informed decision could be made.

We understand that this was not the solution Sophie was hoping for. However, we remain committed to providing clear, practical advice and operating in a way that is fair to all customers.

Excellent service from the people at Tile Kingdom

Excellent service from the people at Tile Kingdom, delivery on-time.
We had the black speckled tiles, absolutely beautiful and sparkles in the sunlight. The only thing negative I can say is they were a nightmare to get the grout off to clean them, I had to get grout removal and use it neat, not water it down and use a sponge with scrubber on, but it was worthwhile in the end.

I bought 11sq meters of The Glacia…

I bought 11sq meters of The Glacia Porcelain tile 300x600. The minute they were installed they started taking in water. Tile kingdom have done absolutely nothing but pass the buck between the supplier and the manufacturer. Coming back in the end saying the tile fell within the parameters. Heartbroken isn’t the word for it as I now have a bathroom that is not fit for purpose. Do not buy from this crowd and stay well away from The Glacia white tile.

We are very sorry to hear how disappointed you feel and understand how upsetting any issue with a finished bathroom can be.

We would like to clarify that we followed our standard process throughout. As we do not manufacture the tiles ourselves, we raised the issue directly with both the supplier and the manufacturer, who are the appropriate parties to assess product performance and compliance.

This exact batch of Glacia Porcelain tiles has exceeded 4,000 sqm in sales. The 11 sqm supplied to you is the only portion from this batch to have generated any concern or report of water absorption. No other defects or similar issues have been identified or reported.

To ensure the matter was handled thoroughly, a representative was sent to inspect the installation on site. We also remained in regular contact throughout the process, often on a near-daily basis, and were fully transparent regarding our suppliers. Their details were shared so that the information provided could be independently verified.

Following inspection, it was confirmed that standard and basic tiling practices had not been followed during installation. Unfortunately, issues arising from poor installation techniques fall outside the scope of a manufacturing or product defect.

We appreciate that this outcome was not what you hoped for. However, every reasonable step was taken to investigate the concern fully, fairly, and transparently.

Fantastic service

I've been trying to find the same floor tiles to match the en-suite ,I found a company local to me but after finding they wanted to charge £140 more for the exact same tile ,even with tile kingdom being the other side of the country the service from tile kingdom and up to date courier messages you can't go wrong
Definitely recommend
