Product different than the picture

Just ordered a baby hat, and was expecting one exactly like the picture, but then it turns out to be different than the picture, costumer service said that there was a little line written in German under the hat that some sizes were different than the picture. Just a little line written that. How wrong is a company that send over something that is different than the picture and explains later it was stating under the picture that the product would be different? They want me to pay to send the item back.
