Toja Grid is spectacular
Toja Grid is spectacular! Please read. My job is ordering construction materials all day, Toja Grid is another level of amazing. Starting with the ease of the website, shipping was less than a week and I’ve ordered twice to Colorado, it was here in less than a week and I had 12 boxes, huge project, then boxes are beautiful and each labeled with every part in each box, then the ease of putting together, need strong men, but the grids show the plan. Highly highly recommend. I’m hoping to get pics out to Toja grid to add to this post as I love the end result at my house

Great product. Lived up to the reviews. Recommend using 6x6 lumber. Easy to install and took about 3 hours!

Toja Grid 30- It Just Kept Getting Worse
First of all, I couldn't find any instructions on assembling a Grid 30 pergola. I can understand why, as the design makes it nearly impossible to assemble. In order to assemble without modifications to the brackets you'd need to incrementally insert all of the upper beams at 18 insertion points simultaneously. Otherwise it's impossible to assemble completely without cutting into the brackets. The geometry of the design won't allow it to be assembled any other way. Toja must know this, yet no mention on their website.
I was sent the four upper brackets in separate boxes with two of them labeled "Right" and two of them labeled "Left". I inspected the brackets for damage, but as it turns out all four of the brackets were "Right" even though two of the boxes clearly stated "Left". By the time I noticed this I had already rented equipment to help raise the beams and had hired a crew to help with the assembly.
Toja accepted an exchange, but only after I had provided proof in the way of pictures, and only after I had shipped the old ones back.
A week or two later the pieces arrived, and I had to pay for equipment rental and manpower again to help with the build.
The build itself relies on getting the wood to fit. No one in my area had 6x6s that would fit the brackets. I spent four hours planing and sanding down each of the beams to get them to fit. We could not wrangle 18 different insertion points at once, so we assembled the rectangular top piece first and then cut open two of the angled top brackets to allow the angled top to be inserted. Now I need to weld back or otherwise attach a metal flat back onto those top brackets.
After all of this was over I wanted to return some unused, unopened 45 degree brackets that I decided we wouldn't need. Toja's response was that it's past the 14 days so no returns, and they offer no exchanges.
If you're thinking about the Grid 30 (especially in 6x6), think about how much weight you need to lift. If you have four or six beefy buddies to help, great. If not, you might need to do what I did and rent equipment to help lift the structure once it's assembled.
Oh, and at least for the lumber I used, I needed to pre-drill every hole since the screws provided are prone to stripping out.

Great product but a difficult assembly!
I have been a contractor for 15 years and had two other qualified contractors as well and we struggled to get this built. Took us 6-7 hours to build 22’ x 12’ off the side of the house using the 6x6 beams and brackets. No real instructions except for the animated video on your website.

Not terrible
Received product fairly quickly with good shipping updates. I found the welds to be rather cheap looking considering the weight that these are meant to hold. The brackets themselves looked a little more substantial in the pictures. Went together ok. Heed the warnings suggesting using DRY wood. Wet treated lumber will NOT fit without modifications. We will see how these hold up over time. I used 4x4s. The horizontal pieces are 8’ and the legs are 7’. Looks good at those dimensions around my hot tub.

Simple and Quick
Kit makes constructing a pergola a breeze, even if you have limited experience with building. You still have make sure your support posts are plumb, but it’s basically a matter of slipping a post into each bracket opening and running the screws in. I was able to construct an 8’x 8’ pergola with the assistance of my dad and son in about 3-4 hours. This includes fastening the post brackets to a concrete slab. I only give it 4/5 stars, as it would have been nice to have some information regarding mounting to concrete to determine what size anchors to use, but we figured that out in our own. Also better quality screws or Robertson screws (“square heads”) would have been a plus, but we made the Phillips screws work. The kit did come with plastic screw covers, so maybe that’s the trade off. It may seem a little pricey, but its definitely worth the money simply by the time it will save you and minimal thought that will result in a great looking pergola. I highly recommend purchasing the Toja Grid pergola kit if your considering building a pergola!

Honestly
Honestly, we had been looking at the Toja Grid system and debating for a couple of monthes when we had taken a trip to Juneau AK, and saw one in use up there. Any product that is chosen for outdoor use in Alaska has got to be insanely durable, needless to say, we were sold. Once we purchased the system it was easy to assemble, cost-effective, and attractive,

Exceeded all expectations!
Shipped extremely quickly and came with everything needed! Was incredibly easy to put together. I used Cedar 4x4s and highly recommend staining them before putting it up. I installed it by myself, which I would not recommend, but just a testament to the ease with which this system works. Could not be happier with the system!

Mostly good...but one questionable corner
I was so excited to use this and put it together. It seemed so sturdy and indestructible...until...one of our corners started to bend when we were fitting it onto the post. Makes me a little nervous that the corner will fail, but I guess time will tell. Love the look, ease of use, and multiple configurations available...
