Very noisy, the music was really cranked up causing people to shout over each other... (booking was for 6.30pm on a saturday & it was busy) Love a bit of music but it was hard to chat over dinner. Foo... See more

The food is divine
The food is divine. The views are to die for and the staff cannot do enough for you. I will be returning. Thank-you for a lovely experience.
Sigh...
Been wanting to try this place for a while now cos me and my family love a good pub steak but the price has always put us off, but we had a few things to celebrate which had been put off due to a few months of illness. Anyway we decided to go "somewhere nice" and not worry too much about the cost.
It was very disappointing. Very bland. They brought my husband and sons meals out but not mine and my daughters. We sat there waiting for a while, then a waiter came up to us and asked if everything was ok (lol!) Erm no mate you've only brought us half our meals. The fries were skin-on fries which I hate but they don't state that on the menu, so that annoyed me aswell. The onion rings were pretty much just rings of batter with no taste. We ordered some separate garlic and herb butter to try give it all some flavour and I think that made it all even worse because it tasted like margerine. As other people have said, they add the service charge to your bill before they ask you if you want to pay it, making it very bloody awkward if you say no. The staff look like they really don't want to be there. The young lad that greeted us mumbled everything and didn't smile once. I thought maybe he was just having an off day, we all get them, but all the staff were like that.
Well at least I can say that we've finally tried this place and won't be going back wasting £200 again. God knows why they charge so much. I think all their money must be going on their posh napkins.
We went to the one in Saltburn.
Excellent Sunday lunch for a family of nine.
Booked for a family off 9. Pre booked menu too
Mainly had Sunday lunch some had the share platter
No complaint,
Excellent friendly service, food was plentiful and delicious
Drinks was good and cocktails quick service on them
Staff friendly, came back to table to ask if everything was ok and brought anything we requested
We would all go back. It was my 75th birthday so perfect
Over priced revolting food, avoid
Over priced revolting food
Terrible service
No check ins for more drinks, had to chase after main course finished for desserts - but stood around chatting to each other leaning on counters
Gristly chicken
Plastic tasting purple coleslaw
The 5 year old was served last for both courses - even ice cream
Then they have the audacity to add on 18% service charge - we didn't pay it
I'd sooner lick a pavement than go back
Darlington branch....should be shut down
Avoid
I think the inspectors need to come in again, food disgusting and completely overpriced!
Poor food and hygiene
Visited Tomahawk at potto for lunch on Saturday found the Philly steak sandwich meat was poor very chewy mentioned it to the staff who did not seem bothered, noticed on 3 occasions staff stroked a dog that was outside then went on to serve other customers and the time they went in the kitchen at least one of them did not wash there hands, saying this it is the first time we have had poor meal and noticed poor hygiene by staff at a tomahawk
Service charge
Staff were helpful and polite, food a little dry. Service charge add to bill. I would be happy to leave a tip. For good service but not taken for granted. It's optional let the customer decide.
Got voucher for Christmas to use in…
Got voucher for Christmas to use in Morpeth, been shut for months so traveled to one 1hr away and stayed in B&B overnight, complained to tomahawk about this and no reply. Still got credit on voucher, I asked when Morpeth will open or do I have to travel again to use rest. Costing me money to use gift
Underhanded charges for average food
Went to tomahawk Saltburn for a family birthday. Paid a huge sum for a bottle of wine (which I expected) but wasn't expecting all the extras when the bill came. There was the £7.50 for the still water I ordered as designated driver (and they didn't tell me there was a charge), the £3.75 for BBQ sauce with my daughters meal (they told me there was a charge but didn't say what it was when I joked it better not be a tenner), and the 'optional' service charge of £9.50 which was added in as an item before the total on the bill, so if you didn't want to pay it you had to do some maths. In total they added nearly £20 to the bill in hidden or unclear charges for an average meal. I don't like these underhanded tactics and won't be returning.
Cold and Missing Food
Went for Sunday lunch and when we received the sharing board some of the items were cold. Also one item was missing. Was only asked if I was happy at the end of the meal. Explained the above and nothing other than a sorry was said. Really disappointed, I have filled the feedback form out and still nothing from them to make up for the experience other than another sorry. Normally I would have stopped eating a shouted someone over. However I was recently out of hospital and didn't have the energy. It feel like they are not bothered about experience or willing to put it right giving I have spent my money with them. Hence the review across all socials.
Visited Tomahawk at Quayside Newcastle…
Visited Tomahawk at Quayside Newcastle for Easter Sunday lunch today and want to share our experience with others.
We had Sunday lunch x 2 the 3 course special and a sharing board as a party of 4.
The welcome from Ryan was genuine and friendly and our waitress Beth was attentive , friendly , knowledgeable on menu choices and kept checking all was OK without it being forced/pushy.
Would totally recommend this restaurant as from what I observed all the staff including the Manager were the same , you felt cared for and valued as a diner. Food was delicious and Sunday lunch was superb quality. The starter of squid and meatballs was just enough and the mains all excellent quality with good choice of sides.Dessert also delicious and served with a friendly smile even when it was busy. Definetly visiting again well done Tomahawk Quayside.
A* Food & Service
Tomahawk in York is so lovely! The food is absolutely stunning! Recently went here for breakfast with my family - every single dish was perfect and the service was great. Our lovely server was Ergest. Definitely a 10/10 experience :)
Food poisoning at its finest
Came to this restaurant in Newcastle Quayside for a nice meal out after driving 6 hours for the weekend with family and my boyfriend. The service at the restaurant was great, however, the food, not so much. I ordered a medium-rare fillet steak, broccoli and creamed mash. I ended up with such bad sickness and diarrhea for 7 hours straight that I ended up having to speak to 111. A clinician also spoke to me who said this is a case of food poisoning (which I had already suspected) after going through multiple questions with me. Let me make it clear that I hadn’t eaten anything else apart from this meal. All dignity completely went out of the window after having to drive back with my boyfriend on an almost 6 hour drive in this absolute state which I’m sure most can understand when you’re in a bad way like this, is stressful and potentially embarrassing! I never expected to get food poisoning from an establishment that appears to be popular, but unless you want to chance being in the same condition as I, then I suggest avoiding at all costs!! It has now been approximately 38 hours since the food here was consumed, and I have had to miss work, still feel completely weak and exhausted from the utter stress and dehydration this has put my body through, and have still been unable to eat anything else properly without feeling completely sick to my stomach. Tomahawk Steakhouse, thank you so much for the diarrhea and projectile vomiting, this is something I’m sure everyone wishes to experience when planning a nice meal out with loved ones (clearly not) and I will gladly never be stepping foot in your establishment ever again.
Service at Tomahawk Steakhouse
Recently visited with friends for coffee unfortunately left my scarf rang them spoke to Lucy who put it in the managers office went to collect it from Seb whole experience was above and beyond my expectations they were wonderful.
Outstanding Service & Food
Outstanding Service & Food, went with a party of 4 on Saturday night, totally recommend to all
Upon arrival at Acklam Hall
Upon arrival at Acklam Hall, we were visually impressed by its welcoming ambiance. The newly refurbished interior boasted nice tables and an inviting atmosphere, setting high expectations for our dining experience. Unfortunately, the aesthetics turned out to be the only highlight of our visit.
We were celebrating a special occasion, but the experience fell short of justifying the steep price tag. With our bill totaling over £100 for two adult meals and a small kids meal, it became increasingly apparent that the value proposition was lacking.
One notable disappointment was being charged for water without prior indication of its cost—a surprising £3.75 addition to our bill. The kids' meal, advertised as chicken goujons, resembled something more akin to McDonald's chicken nuggets. While not inherently a deal-breaker, it was indicative of the overall lack of attention to detail.
Our main courses, two steaks, arrived looking promising and were cooked to the desired level, yet they lacked the flavor one would expect from a premium steakhouse. The creamed mushrooms and beef dripped chips were the saving grace of the meal, offering bursts of flavor amid an otherwise underwhelming culinary experience.
To add insult to injury, upon settling our bill and returning home, we discovered an optional service charge had been added without prior notification—a final disappointment from an establishment that failed to meet our expectations.
Overall, our visit to the Tomahawk Steak House at Acklam Hall left us feeling very disappointed. While the restaurant's appearance and select menu items showed promise, the execution fell short, resulting in a dining experience that failed to justify its high price point.
Very poor
Had not booked us on the balcony as requested, luckily there was some seats available, most of them to be honest, but we could only have the 2 seated tables not 4 near the window, cos there was only the 2 of us. However there were 2 other couples that were sat at the 4 seater ones one when we went in and another as we were leaving. There were plenty available, but we were told we could only sit at the 2 seater, despite loads been available. I ordered the English breakfast and requested certain items, I explained twice, but when it came it was totally wrong, they only brought me 3 eggs, 1 bacon and 3 toast, it was a joke. So I sent it back, they did rectify it but it still wasn't very good, had far better at other places, will not be going back any time soon. There is no way I would ask for 3 toast and 3 eggs!!!
Terrible meal…
Went for £20 deal ordered parmo croquettes for starter ,full of mushed chicken texture made us feel sick main steak medium ,was dripping blood and chips cold ,asked for barbecue sauce got something like runny gravy .son got burger chicken slimy and charged him 395 for thimble of garlic sauce desert good but why put cress on top of ice cream. This was Saltburn. Wont return imagine paying full price for that .
A rare night out spoilt and no one cares at Tomahawk
A rare night out spoilt by poor service, poor food, dirty table and Glasses and well over priced. On arrival we were shown to a dirty table with Water glasses on the table which had lip marks on with out being checked and had to be changed. The food arrived cold and when paying £75 for a steak platter for 2 people you expect the food to be warm at least. The Sauce which you had to pay extra for arrived with a skin on it and inedible, the side veg limp and cold but the very best was the glass of Spritz (wine and soda) at £11.95 each!!! The bill arrives with the service charge added and when complaining on line nothing happens, not even a covering email or phone call. Being in the Hospitality Trade ourselves i'm sorry but i would never consider advising my guests to go to Potto as it appears thy don't care.
Terrible experience at Potto
Terrible experience at Potto. The service was way below standard and didn’t reflect the price at all. It was cold in the restaurant, staff was unattentive and inexperienced. The food was good but took 1.5 hrs to arrive. 2 meals had to go back cos the steaks weren’t cooked right. We filled out the feedback form 2 weeks ago but haven’t had any response. We won’t be going back.
