Not fit for purpose

Brought home the 72cc Havic chainsaw. Saw a secondhand one on marketplace for $100 and grabbed that too for spares. Engine went well but bar was shot and spreading at the tip and the chain didn't have enough adjustment to keep it on. Thought jeez the owner must've been rough. Anyway that weekend I opened up the box of the new one and assembled it. Wouldn't idle so was going to look at that after a quick test. Seemed to have plenty of power but after 10 minutes the chain was very loose. I stopped and tightened the chain. Topped up the gas with the recommended mix for the new saw and kept going but after 2 hours I'd spent more time tightening the chain than cutting wood. Frustrated I thought I'd return it after the weekend. It was terrible. Sunday I thought I'd have another go and persevered for nearly 4 hours which was half continually adjusting the chain tightness and cleaning the oil feed....as the tip didn't seem to be free. The day finished with the tip sprocket dislodging and jamming the chain.
I live rural and have 4 stihl saws. 2 16" ,1 18", and a newer 20 ". My family had a large firewood business in the 80s and 90s so I've grown up on saws.
I looked at the 24" havik because it came up on my Facebook feed and I'd been thinking of getting a bigger saw. I should have read topmaqs reviews first. Turns out they don't do returns or show any goodwill. The saw is rubbish and in this case you get what to pay for. A cheap saw.
A 100km round trip to return the saw and have them charge me for their technicians time to tell me it's user error...no thanks. It's going to the tip with spare saw with the same issue. It's last insult was the pull cord breaking. Never once had that happen on a stihl and one of mine is 30 years old.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware. Purchased a chainsaw that has multiple problems and now have to drop off and wait for them to decide if I pay or not. System is not to resolve issues quickly but to absolve their liability. Chain continually came loose and bar tip ate itself after less than 4 hours use. Poor quality. 100km round trip to return but had to turn around. You have to arrange a time to return. Laughable system

water pump…

I purchased a whole house water pump which does not adequately pump water at a reasonable pressure. The max flow, suction and head are all plenty for the situation. I had emailed and spoken to a sales person a few weeks ago who was to follow up with the manufacturer as the psi information wasn't something they had been supplied. Since then I have emailed 4 further times including this morning. Another person has rung me back and mentioned the person I spoke with was away today. Mentioning that I had emailed a few other times he was unable to say why my emails that weren't followed up on. The pump has a variable shut off and can be adjusted, from the manufacturer this is set to 35psi. After asking if once the other sales member is back the manufacturers info would be followed up on he has said that the max psi is 35 (although it does go slightly higher). I was simply trying to figure out if the pump is faulty or if the psi (44) that I am getting is correct. I did ask to lay a complaint after saying that my emails were going unanswered, the person I was speaking to then asked what the complaint would be for. He argued and spoke over me to a point I had to hang up as he was not going to get the info I had requested. It's a shame because I have brought plenty from them in the past but never had to follow up with customer service who has let them down.

Misleading and Deceptive company that does not allow returns.

I purchased an engine based at the Christchurch store based upon the limited information on the website and some quick measurements on the display model in the store, but upon getting it home it did not fit.

I returned it the next week in pristine condition with all original packaging. The person inspected the engine, clicked in the computer for a few minutes, and then wandered off to chat with someone else for 5 minutes after which they informed me that it was a clearance item and could not be returned.

The engine was still for sale in the store, on their website, and there was no indication of it being a clearance item anywhere. Later I tried calling and talking with the manager, but he just stated that they "do not need to accept anything back".

There are other similar stories if you read reviews, so this is not an isolated event. Beware.

I brought this chainsaw havik 72cc for Topmaq, could not get it started and took it back into the shop, the technician advised he would open up another brand newone and start it infront of me, after 9 pulls he advised that he couldn't get that one going either. Topmaq are still selling these supposed quality chainsaw on Trademe and they don't work. I asked for a full refund and have been waiting 3 weeks now and also getting no reply from Topmaq anymore.
After a month they tried to tell me that I didn't put oil in the petrol and have owned chainsaws for over 12 years on a lifestyle block and I also put 40:1 into oil as per specifications. No refund after showing me the bore completely scored with a big chunk taken out of it. Complete crap. Brought a 91.6cc chainsaw for Jono and Jono in Australia runs like a dream and my 12 year old chinese chainsaw still runs sweet. Don't deal with these guys especially Jeremy Grieve there so called general manager, RIP off artists!!!!!

Extremely poor customer service

I am extremely disappointed at the poor service from Christchurch Top maq store. We purchased a kit set shed, which was not cheap, some parts were faulty and broken. I have made numerous phone calls and sent several emails including photos of the faulty parts with assurances that someone would contact me to assist. I’m still waiting,,,,,,,, I will not be shopping with top maq again. The worst retail experience I have ever had.

Customer service for the win

Another purchase form Topmaq, but this one wasn't straight-forward.
Stock issue at the nearest branch meant inter-island despatch. This introduced a 3rd party delivery delay with a Track and Trace issue and then to top it off we had a user problem....
BUT, the Customer Service engagement through this process was outstanding. All the problems along the way were sorted in a timely and professional manner. Result, correct product delivered to the correct person and operating correctly.
Well done all round !
