I bought a maker kit for a work prototyping project. Took half a day for my 7 and 5 year old boys to spot the box and raid my supplies. They instinctively knew how to handle the nut inserts and use the booklet to make complex structures.
Well built, great balance between sturdiness and rigidity and ease of customizing, cutting and adjusting!

Received my kits,i must say this is top quality products, very well packaged, arrived on time. Customer service is also top. Great company

I always remember, as a boy sixty odd years ago, the way that meccano shaped my future career. I look on totemmaker as being the new meccano but only better. It's a versatile building system that enables you to build cars, robots, models etc., with the added benefit of easily connecting and programming to your phone. The X4 and labs are arduino programmable and the mini labs with side panels are an easy way to learn arduino programming.

The system is backed up with unbeatable technical support and questions asked on the forum are answered promptly. Also there is a well informed Wiki and blog.

There is an added benefit if you own a 3D printer. Most of the parts are available for download either as Sketchup (or equivalent) drawings or STL files which can be downloaded into Cura (or equivalent). I can't see lego doing that?

The only downside is availability. I wish there was an outlet within walking distance from my house instead of waiting for delivery from Lithuania.

Just built my Totem Mini Lab and impressed with the 'bang for the buck'. I'm professionally involved in engineering, and the only comment I would make is that the tolerance on a couple of the nuts has been a bit tight and the advice on not tightening stuff up too early is good!

The build instruction diagrams looked complicated at first glance, but once I had studied them a few times and 'dry assembled' things it went well.

A right-angled 'Allen Key' for the bolts would be good for the situations where you're tightening up from the inside of the constructed frame, where there's not enough room for the height of the screwdriver and my chunky hand... 🙂

Oh - and an adaptor for the power supply would be good to enable me to plug it in to UK 3 pin sockets. I actually have one lying around somewhere, and whilst they're inexpensive it would be convenient to have one in the kit.

And for those of us with aging eyes - magnifiers are useful. 😃

I think I'll borrow my Godson...smaller hands, sharper eyes! 🙂

Based on my purchase of a Mini Trooper, I can highly recommend supporting Totemmaker. Their products and the whole maker-system are very well engineered. The assembly instructions are thought-through. The quality is on a high level. Their kits are, in fact, a joy of making - impressive, easy and pleasant. It's suitable as a gift for kids/teenagers to introduce them in a playful way to the world of electronics, software and mechanics as well as for advanced projects for advanced engineers.

Extraordinary kit. I needed a modelable support structure for Raspberry / Arduino projects and I must say that this kit is really very useful. With the great variety of metal connectors and supports of various geometries it is possible to create practically infinite structures of various degrees of complexity, and it is also possible to fix microcontroller boards, servo-motors, breadboards, PCBs, sensors, etc. with "L" supports. .., excellent magnetic screwdriver to fix the internal pins.

Me and kids (8 and 10 yo) built all three of Young Engineer kits and we're pretty happy with the whole process of building. It was our first experience building something like that (except Lego).

We bought a maker kit and use it to make prototypes for DIY projects (like cars). The maker kit is easy to assemble, light and quite stable. Very nice for the rapid construction of prototypes. We will keep using it and I recommend it.

Mini Trooper came in 5 days. It was very fun to build it.
