Took my 2 year old Toyota Landcruiser…

Took my 2 year old Toyota Landcruiser in for service at Toyota Gateshead, as part of the service package you get a 'free' exterior clean and hoovered out footwells.

Was told on the phone on the day or service that the map update was taking ages so maybe they shouldn't update it as it was taking up too much time in workshop.... obviously disagreed to this and within a couple hours they miraculously rang to say car was ready to collect.

Arrived at Toyota Gateshead saw the car parked up and it was FILTHY, went in to speak to someone inside and was told they forgot to wash the car, he said he will take it round back and get it washed. 15 mins later the car just about came back as dirty as it went in and the footwells hadn't been hoovered. When i complained to the service manager about this he told me because they forgot to give the car its complimentary exterior and footwell hoover that it was rushed through so it wont be as clean as they normally wash cars and they didn't have time to hoover footwells. After this he said there wasn't much more he could do to help me as they are so busy but he can tell the manager that i wasn't happy... not sure what this would achieve?

They also tried to charge us for putting the plastic cover back on the side of the driver and passenger seat to recline, despite me telling them numerous times that it is under warranty and i shouldn't have to pay for this. Once i told them i wasn't going to pay for that as it was warranty they told me that it looks like i had purposely pulled this plastic parts off the seats, then told me they couldn't find them and they never had seen them???? When i collected the car these bits of plastic had been re-fitted and i was not charged.

Very disappointed with the service given and how we were just brushed off when we were told we weren't happy with the service they had given, definitely should have listened to colleagues/friends when warning against this garage. Hussain Kajee was the name of the staff ember we spoke to.

Toyota only care about new customers

Toyota only seem to care about new customers. I'm actually shocked to read all the poor reviews of Toyota on here because to me, their brand had always been synonymous with quality but I don't think that's the case now. I bought a Yaris in 2022 and I'm actually really pleased with the car but it only came with one key due to the chip shortage. Trying to get a spare key from Toyota is like pulling teeth and they keep fobbing me off saying that the key is not available. However, if I'm willing to pay £577.13 for a key from the local dealer the lead time is 2-3 weeks. Toyota also advised me to contact the AA if I lose my key and they can supply one on the same day. So why can't Toyota supply one? Based on my experience I won't be buying another Toyota especailly as I haven't been very impressed with the local dealership. Such a shame.

Appalling customer communications

Appalling customer communications. Just had my Rav 4 serviced and, as always, multiple emails afterwards from Toyota for feedback etc, etc just keep on coming at me.
Guys you are just servicing a car so stop pestering customers and being so needy, it's worrying..!
Then after this another marketing email that is almost impossible to unsubscribe from...what a joke.

Toyota UK Franchisees

Toyota UK: experience with Steven Eagel so awful on every level, from customer service, communication, time taken to carry out repairs has been so appalling over the last 6 months I regret purchasing and owning a Toyota and potentially will sell our new Land Cruiser because of it. Toyota UK needs to make sure their franchised dealers do not destroy their reputation in the UK.

Toyota UK poor service

I’ve reviewed Toyota UK customer services in the past, sadly it seems they have not improved on their approach to customers concerns.
Eventually my original complaint at the time was resolved under a goodwill gesture.
We are now at another juncture where I’m asking questions and they now refer me to the Motor Ombudsman.
Buyers of Toyota products are drawn by reliability and innovation, however where there’s a warranty issue Toyota UK refer back to the dealership who of course under the franchise effect repairs once authorised by the manufacturer, never the less not generating recalls on known faults is rather poor.
I do think there’s a culture not just with Toyota UK that is dismissive where customers are asking pertinent questions or are well informed on the subject matter, so long as customers are polite and respectful the “fobbing off” culture now prevalent should be looked at.
It’s been over 10 years since I was responsible for high level complaints, ownership is key and right first time the message I lived by, shame standards are not maintained.
UPDATE
After contacting the CEO of Toyota UK and full and honest explanation was forthcoming, therefore I am changing my rating, I trust the front end interaction will improve.

Bought a 2024 Toyota Yaris Excel??

Bought a 2024 Toyota Yaris Excel. In first 14 months (6500 miles) it has had 2 failed shock absorbers, Windscreen split two thirds of the way across top of screen with no impact or good reason(only split on inside laminate, exterior was OK). Two flat battery incidents, Toyota Roadside Assistance told us that its a known fault the battery is too small.
We rang the Dealership when the screen split, They told us to claim on our insurance as the windscreen was not covered under Guarantee. I explained that there had been no damage to the windscreen e.g. Stone chips, the wind screen had failed (possibly due to stress) and that it should be covered. They suggested we have it repaired and get a report to submit to Toyota. The repair will cost us £140 through our insurance. The report to Toyota ? well we will keep you posted.
Looking on line we have found multiple reports of these faults for this year model. Contacting Toyota without going through the Dealerships seems impossible.
Has anyone else also experienced these problems?

Disgraceful Experience

Disgraceful Experience – Avoid Toyota Edgware at All Costs!

Buying a car from Toyota Edgware has been one of the worst decisions I’ve made. They sold me a RAV4 that is ridiculously easy to steal — a serious safety concern they failed to mention. When I tried to contact the sales manager, Jemmy Dudlen, I called FIVE times and was completely ignored. No help, no call back, nothing. Just silence.

As if that wasn’t enough, the service department is just as useless. I reached out to the service manager, Rose Toni, to raise my concerns, sent a message — and again, was completely ignored. No response, no follow-up, zero professionalism.

Both departments clearly don’t care about customers once they get your money. If you want to be ignored and left with a security risk of a vehicle, go ahead — but I strongly advise you to stay far away from Toyota Edgware. This place is a joke.

Fault with Toyota Auris, Hybrid 2018

For few years, the satnav got dark when headlights were on . I mentioned to Toyota when I went for service but they couldn’t find anything. Once I was reversing very very slowly, it suddenly shot back and hit a bollard. I thought maybe my foot probably pressed on accelerator. Then months later. I was parking in a space between 2 cars very slowly and thinking I should reverse and straighten up, suddenly it shot off and hit the hedge in force. Was written off, but I definitely think the electrics of the car has something to do with it . My car was Toyota Auris 2018, Hybrid. Did anyone else have similar experience?

I ordered a Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2 in May 2024 and was told delivery would be in August 2024, then September, October, November, December, January, February, March and now being told April 2025.

Useless bully's who don't listen!

I received a call from Toyota Finance telling me I was in arrears with my account.
I explained that the car had been sold on March 1st to a dealership in Grimsby. I sent them a
a copy of the statement from the Government confirming the transaction.
Then I spoke to the dealership who confirmed settlement had been made on Monday
Next I emailed Customer Services with the same information but today I received a letter telling me I was in arrears.
I replied to them by email - Customer resolutions this time-as it was impossible to speak to them by phone.
All very upsetting and an email has just come through which was telling me AGAIN I'm in arrears.
They clearly have not read the 2 emails that have been sent, nor checked that the money sent to settle my account by the Honda dealership has arrived.
I've never been in arrears with anything and am deeply upset that I have been accused of this.
I am also concerned that this accusation will be flagged on my credit rating, something which is even more disturbing
After having purchased 3 Toyota vehicles over the last 6 years, I'll never buy another

Poor Customer Service & Unacceptable Wait TimesI’m extremely disappointed with…

I’m extremely disappointed with Toyota’s customer service. My hybrid 12V battery failed after just over a year, which is unacceptable for a car of this age. Despite the urgency of the issue, the earliest service appointment I was given was in almost 3 weeks—far too long to wait for a critical fault.

To make matters worse, Toyota refused to provide a courtesy car or any form of compensation, leaving me without a reliable vehicle. For a brand that prides itself on quality and customer care, this experience has been frustrating and disappointing.
I expected better support for such a significant issue, and I hope Toyota reconsiders how they handle urgent cases in the future.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with Toyota’s customer service. No matter which channel I use—phone, email, or even visiting in person—getting a clear answer is nearly impossible. They either don’t respond at all or give vague, unhelpful replies.

To make matters worse, despite buying a brand-new car from an official Toyota dealer just two months ago, they now want to charge me just to check a faulty part! This is absolutely unacceptable for a vehicle still under warranty. Instead of standing behind their products, they seem more interested in squeezing every last penny out of customers.

Toyota’s reputation for reliability means nothing if their service is this poor. I expected much better, and I will seriously reconsider buying from them again.

JUST AWFUL!

Had the misfortune of meeting the most rude, unhelpful and unprofessional sales people I have ever encountered in my entire life, after I stupidly visited the Guildford branch at Slyfield industrial estate. I advise anyone to stay clear of this branch ( which actually is maybe what's happening, as no customers in there) and look elsewhere. Somewhere with decent customer service and with staff that have the decency to at least know how to smile.
One can only imagine what after service a customer would receive.
Dreadful place!
