After 1 month all of the paint behind the grill peeled off to reveal rust. Traeger customer service was horrible. My local ace (where I bought it) worked to get me a new one 1 week later. The new one... See more

Owned a Ironwood XL for 5 weeks
Owned a Ironwood XL for 5 weeks. Used 4 times. 7 hours on with support to find out I cannot return the lemon. Do not buy. Better designs and stronger products with half the price. Do not loose almost 2k like I did with a crappy bbq taking up my garage. HORRIBLE service.
The grill seems to be a good quality…
The grill seems to be a good quality product but I had a power issue and their customer service was very poor. I had a really frustrating experience. Was obviously speaking to someone from another country who could barely understand me and my issue. They also knew nothing about Traeger grills and how to navigate technical issues. Really disappointing.
Traeger Ironwood
Bought a Traeger Ironwood grill less than a year ago. Used 5 or 6 times. Getting sensor error messages, which means it wont work. On the phone with tech support for over an hour. They had me taking it apart, unplugging and plugging wire connectors. No go. This is an overpriced, over complicated piece of junk. Heading for the dumpster.
I wish I hadn't opted for Traeger
I wish I hadn't opted for Traeger. The smoker is OK not great. For $4,000 the thing should be high quality. The Traeger app is terrible. Most of the time it doesn't get through an entire smoke without losing connection. The error message says, "Oops Something went wrong. Try again later." Wow. Really informative. I would not buy a Traeger again.
Cheap Plastic Parts
The old ones were great. I had my last one for 11 yrs. My new expensive one is absolute trash. The fan is actually 100% from what I can see plastic and obviously melted not long after purchase. Plastic???? I was shocked it’s the last one I will buy and it’s unfortunate because I really liked them before the new cheap plastic ones.
it is not the best, so far is the worst
I bought it because it is supposed to be the best, however I have been disappointed. The controls does not control the temperature. Tried to smoke a whole chicken, and it up for 225 deg. First time it overshoot and went to 420
Then after reseting it and tried again, it went to 278 and after letting it smoke away it stopped. There was no wind. Tried it again and it did it again. Followed the troubleshooting guide but no luck. I finally gave up and used my old reliable gas grill.
Now I’m here babysitting my ribs to smoke it at 225. Once again, he keeps overshooting it. It goes to 400 plus degree. I’m here, babysitting. I put on on 180 and it never goes down lower than 280. I even put it in just smoke anc the temperature never goes down.
Traeger Grills
The traeger grill itself is a good grill, depending on which one you buy. There are different levels of quality!! If you’re gonna get a traeger pay the extra money and get the better quality grill.
Customer service is probably the worst. The traeger locked up my WiFi router and the only response I got from them was sorry! Then our grill caught fire and again when I confronted customer service, was told “to clean again and see if it happens again”!!!! Reported to BBB, but they can’t force company to do the right thing, only other option for me would be to sue them in civil court, again costing me more money! Grill is good, customer service is the worst!!
I love my grill however.
I love my grill, However for some reason Traeger will not sell anything other than the basics In Utah, you have to order the parts online and wait days and days to get them. When you call corporate, they say oh yeah, we have places in Salt Lake that you can get the parts. This is a lie, both places we went to don't have anything other than the basics like everyone else. Why would you do this to your customers. My next smoker purchase will be a different company one that doesn't lie to their customers.
Love my Traeger grill
Love my Traeger grill. Never BBQ on anything else now. Had my first one for 10 years. Just bought a new one at Costco.
Electronics non-repairable
Traeger grill performs very well BUT they do not repair electronic failures. The display controller is $400 which they are happy to sell but will not repair or refurbish.
This may be a great product IF I could…
This may be a great product IF I could only get it to work! The problem is that I can’t bring the grill close enough to the WiFi in our home to down load the updated Firmware! Without which the €3,000+ Christmas Gift won’t even switch on! You would think there would be other ways to update the firmware, but apparently not! Mega disappointed!
Felt uncomfortable with customer…
Felt uncomfortable with customer service. They try to be your friend but i am just here to get my problem solved, you do not care about my personal life at all.
In regards of the grill, worst product ever, the wi fi grills are a pain in the b u t and so annoying, this was a gift and i will never buy one my own and i totally do not recommend it.
The worse $800 I have ever spent
The worse $800 I have ever spent. Bought it about 3 or 4 years ago. It never could maintain a temperature without shutting down. Took it back to dealer who replaced the brain/motor. Still couldn’t maintain heat. The only level of heat we could use was the high heat which didn’t require smoke so we were limited to roasting chickens and a few other things. And as mentioned in a previous review, the metal components warped under heat. Recently the thing threw and error and shut down. Opened the lid and it had caught fire. I was told the dust from the Traeger pellets was the cause. Cleaned it up. Sifted the dust from the pellets and same thing happened. Now I have to pay someone to haul away this piece of crap.
Timberline Grill. Love it, hate it.
Bought a new Timberline grill/smoker in early 2021. First, the taste of meats prepared on the Traeger cannot be beat. Particularly smoking and reverse searing gives the meat a flavor that gets rave reviews, but....I live in Florida and I cannot recommend the grill for those who live in high humidity regions. Reason number 1, RUST! Everything but the stainless steel shelves is rusting badly. Not just internals but the barrel, legs, sides, everything. Reason number 2, humidity is soaked up by the pellets and then they will not ignite. Traeger says to remove all of the pellets after each use and keep them in a dry area. Really? So after the BBQ when the friends and family are gathered around to socialize, I am supposed to remove all of the pellets from the hopper and chute? How exactly? I've tried removing as many as possible from the hopper and then using a shop vac to suck the ones from the chute. What a pain! Not to mention the expense. Pellets are expensive. I will probably only get about one more year out of the Traeger before it is unusable. Not what I expected from a $2800 grill. I'm going back to a stainless steel propane grill after this experience.
They are junk, don’t buy one.
They are junk. Don’t buy one. They don’t cook anything. They warm it, slowly. I have never had a fail with a gas grill, but several fails with a Traeger. I am surprised they are still fooling people. You’d be better off setting your money on fire, at least it might cook something that way.
Dangerous high risk of grease burn
Dangerous high risk of grease burn. This grill tends to snap warp severely while you’re using it and grease can splatter up into the air onto your face skin any area unexpectedly I do not recommend this grill at all. Contacted the company and they have not done anything not even under warranty zero
Garbage grill & malicious customer support
At first the grill worked amazing. WiFi connect and a pellet sensor; great experience. Until I made baked potatoes and had to use the grill above 400 degrees F. It completely ruined the interior coating of the grill, melted the paint off of the external part of the grill next to the heat source, and the pellet sensor stopped functioning. When I called support and sent images they said it was because of grease damage that I didn’t clean. There was maybe a 4 inch splash of grease near the top of the grill (where the rack sits), and all of the damage occurred at the bottom of the grill next to the heat source. Customer support refuse to replace or repair. Lucking I bough it at Costco, so they can handle holding Traeger financially responsible for this piece of trash. Spend your money elsewhere.
After 2 days it stopped working
After 2 days of purchase the Traeger 575 grill stopped working. we invited people over and bought $200.00 worth of meat. The ignition rod went dead. The day was a complete loss. The disappointment was much worse after all the planning and research.
780 Traeger
780 Traeger , please don’t buy this garbage!!!! Multiple problems! Please buy something else.
They suck!!!
They suck!!!! Have had issues with this crappy unit since day 1 and Traeger won't do anything to fix it since it's "no longer under warranty" the issue is the temp continues to fluctuate and doesn't hold a set temp even after deep cleaning and replacing the RTD probe. I was expecting traeger to have better support....going with another brand that isn't a rip off. Save yourself the headache.
