We make this distinction clear to all prospective clients multiple times, including within the retainer agreement provided prior to hiring and in the procedural emails sent throughout the case. Our staff is specifically trained to ensure that no client is told—or allowed to infer—that representation guarantees a reduction in fines. As a law firm, we do not make representations on behalf of the court, and doing so would be improper and unethical.

It is also important to clarify that our legal fee is entirely separate from any court-imposed fine. The fee reflects the professional time, legal work, and court representation provided on the client’s behalf. It is not connected to, nor does it influence, the amount set by the court.

With respect to communication, we utilize multiple channels—including text and email—to ensure timely updates and documentation for our clients. That said, we understand that communication preferences can vary, and we are always available to address concerns directly when contacted.

In matters such as this, representation includes a formal retainer agreement, invoicing, written correspondence, and an appearance in court on the client’s behalf, all of which create documented records of legal services performed.

We also take statements such as “crooks” seriously. Characterizing a licensed law firm and its attorneys in that manner, particularly where documented legal services were provided, may be viewed as a misrepresentation of facts and could raise concerns of defamation. We would encourage care in the use of such language.

As you noted, individuals always have the option to handle certain matters on their own. Many of our clients, however, choose representation for the convenience of not appearing in court and for professional advocacy aimed at protecting their record and minimizing long-term consequences.
