I wish I had done more research into this business before hiring them

When I was looking for a dog trainer with experience in protection training for my Doberman, I found Train Your Dog’s website. On the surface it looked as though I’d found the perfect place for what I needed. The websites homepage even said it has been training Dobermans since 2002! After contacting them I was phoned by a man introducing himself as Robert, head trainer. He was abrasive and rude to me from the very start of our conversation and launched into telling me his life story and current problems with “trolls” and “haters” who are jealous and out to ruin his good name. Looking back this entire call should have been my sign to go find another trainer but I had been reassured by Robert that he wouldn’t be the one to meet me for my dog’s assessment since he’d be in America, working with international customers at the date I’d scheduled. But lo and behold, Robert was the man to show up for the assessment, claiming his customer had cancelled and launching into an extremely difficult to believe story as to why. As soon as I handed him the lead, it was obvious he didn’t have a clue about how to train a dog for personal protection, his method of training was literally winding my dog up then trying to provoke a bite - without a bite suit or sleeve! No luring, no decoys, no pre assessment of my dog as I’d been promised on the phone either. I quickly reached the end of my rope with Robert. It was clear he had no idea what he was doing and he was putting my dog, himself and me in a dangerous situation. I called his bluff and asked him to leave, which prompted what I can only call an adult temper tantrum for “wasting his time”. Afterwards I looked deeper into the history of the company and found a litany of unhappy customers and abused dogs. I’ve learned my lesson the hard way, to always do due diligence on potential dog trainers and to not take everything at face value.

Stay clear if you love your dog

If I could give 0 I would. This is a company owned by Rob Metcalf of One to One dog training. He will take your money and abuse your dog. A week boarding for him means taking your dog up and down the country in his van. He likes to charge £800 for this. You got caught out though didn’t you Rob. Don’t be fooled by this man’s lies.

Stay clear for your dogs sake.

The person who runs this company has changed its name many times over to avoid his reputation of being a con artist. Stay away from R Metcaffe he is an animal abuser and crook. Gave my anxious pup more anxiety.

Recidivist conman

If you're doing some research on this company you may wish to look at One to one dog training school. Metcalfe is clearly rebranding. Same methods, same 'trainer'.

Do a check on the socials for 121 and you'll see lots of customer reviews on the 'FB exposed' page .

Dog abuse & scam

Before any training took place, I was asked by the owner of this business to pay £200 in cash, which I unwittingly acquiesced to and to leave him a 5 star review.
After said training was over, I lost my cash but was very glad I refused to leave him a positive review.
I found this business online and reached out for training for our family’s Husky, Koda, who pulls on his lead and barks at other dogs.
During this training session the trainer was much too rough with our dog, yanking him off his paws on a grot collar, completely brushing off my and my daughters’ protests.
My breaking point came when the trainer physically assaulted Koda. He pulled Koda up, so he was bipedal, on his hind legs, holding him by his front legs, then, he suddenly kneed him in his chest!
Never in all my years of owning dogs have I ever heard of this being used as a training technique as the trainer so claimed.
Another thing I’d like to mention is that the trainer arrived nearly half an hour late yet still charged me £200, the full price for a full 1 hour session, despite only doing half an hour of bad work!
