The JRC ECDIS training program is well designed and provides a comprehensive approach to improving knowledge and understanding of ECDIS operations. However, one aspect that could be improved is the requirement to complete a minimum of 70% of the main topics before gaining access to the final assessment. Additionally, there is currently no option to skip or fast-forward through the training videos. For experienced navigators who already possess sufficient knowledge and practical experience with ECDIS operations, this requirement may unnecessarily extend the training process. Providing an option for users to demonstrate their existing knowledge through a pre-assessment or allowing experienced users to bypass certain sections would make the program more flexible and efficient while maintaining the required training standards. Overall, the program is effective, but adding more flexibility for experienced users would improve the learning experience.

I had a very good experience with the JRC JAN-9201/7201 Online ECDIS Type-Specific Training Course. The course was well structured and easy to understand, with clear explanations of the different ECDIS functions and operations. The FreePlay simulator was especially useful as it provided practical experience with the JRC ECDIS interface and helped me become more familiar and confident with the equipment. The videos, quizzes, and practical exercises made the learning process effective and interesting.
I had a very good experience with the JRC JAN 9201/7201 course. The training was well balanced between theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical exercises, which made the concepts much easier to understand. As I will be working on JRC equipment for the first time, this course gave me valuable knowledge and confidence to operate the system effectively onboard. I learned a lot throughout the training. The assessment questions were a little tricky and challenging, but they also helped test my understanding properly. Overall, it was a very useful, practical, and well-structured course. Highly recommended!
