I recently dealt with TransUnion, Clear, Helpful and Professional
I recently dealt with TransUnion regarding an issue on my credit file, and I was genuinely impressed with how smooth the whole process was. Their team responded quickly, explained everything in plain language, and kept me updated throughout. It felt like they actually took the time to understand the situation rather than sending generic replies. I had moved home to Ireland some years ago and needed a credit history from a country I lived in.
The resolution was handled professionally and faster than I expected. A big thank you to Tshilidzi. It’s reassuring to know there’s a credit agency that’s both efficient and easy to deal with. A really positive experience overall.
Absolutely useless company
Absolutely useless company, no option to update your address. 😆😆😆

Most of the staff are very helpful
Most of the staff are very helpful, and understanding, only problem is issues raised always take a long to be resolved, if at all, otherwise happy with the service.

Awful service
Awful service
Have false things on my report and are refusing to remove them and asking for glacial response times of 28 days to the initial query. Literally increasing my mortgage payments because of their inabilities.

They do not consider fraudulent accounts.
Due to fraud, I have a defaulted account with a car insurance company. I have managed to resolve that with the insurance company and they deleted all record of that.
However, TransUnion even after many communications sill make no effort to take it off the credit file they keep for me. So.. the other two credit report companies understand this and wipe it off my record (which is super fantastic), TransUnion? no,no,no. They keep the default active even tho the account does not even exist which of course has a detrimental effect on searching for finance options.

Glacial response time
Having agreed that my case was upheld, Transunion was very slow to reply to a request for a hard copy of my credit file.... as in over 10 months late. However, once I got a response with apologies for the wait, my report was promised....but it has still not arrived over a week later. Maybe it will arrive in a few months!

TransUnion haven't updated my address
TransUnion still haven't updated my address. I have been registered on the electoral roll for over a year at my new address but according to them I'm not. Because of their incompetence it has dropped my credit score by over 200 points since I moved. Despite contacting them on numerous occasions and speaking to my bank and local council on multiple occasions, and them all stating I do in fact live at my current address, TransUnion are STILL not updating my address. Please avoid at all costs if you, like me are trying to secure funding for a business. You won't get any type of loan because of their incompetence.

I wrote to TransUnion with a complaint about my credit score and the incorrect information contained in it. They wrote back a 'copy & paste' reply which did not consider or investigate my specific concern.

Pulane was brilliant
Pulane was brilliant, gave me an understanding of why I may have been declined credit, however they cant go into specifics through the phone which is fine, so currently on the website to gather an understanding of why and hope the issue gets resolved, thank you.

Shockingly Inaccurate Data and a Completely Broken Dispute Process
My experience with TransUnion has been nothing short of appalling. They held an incorrect version of my name on the electoral register, and despite providing official council documentation, they repeatedly failed to correct it. Even worse, they invented multiple variations of my name, none of which matched my legal identity.
Their system then distributed these incorrect names to third‑party companies, including insurers and identity‑checking organisations. I discovered this only after obtaining a hard‑copy credit file, which showed that companies such as Aviva and LexisNexis had run searches using the wrong name supplied by TransUnion. This is a serious failure in data accuracy and quality control.
I raised disputes multiple times, and TransUnion repeatedly marked them as “successful” even though nothing had been corrected. Their responses were inconsistent, contradictory, and showed no evidence of proper investigation. I eventually had to file a formal GDPR complaint and send it by recorded delivery because the standard dispute process was completely ineffective.
The amount of time, stress, and unnecessary cost caused by their mistakes is unacceptable. A credit reference agency should be able to handle something as basic as a person’s name, yet TransUnion failed at every stage — storing it incorrectly, sharing it incorrectly, and failing to fix it when notified.
Based on my experience, TransUnion’s data handling and dispute resolution processes are unreliable and deeply flawed. I would strongly advise anyone to check their TransUnion file carefully, because errors are not only possible — they can spread to multiple organisations without your knowledge.

An awful and unlawful company
An awful and unlawful company. Unhelpful consumer services. Ongoing dispute that isn’t getting resolved. Credit file containing false information that is significantly impacting my finances and no representative willing to help.

TransUnion lowers credit scores
TransUnion lowers credit scores, and I have the impression that this is working against borrowers, encouraging them to take out loans with higher interest rates. If you want to contact them, they make it difficult. For example, when you enter your postcode address in their contact app, they claim it's incorrect, which means you can't contact them.

No service, bad attitude
TransUnion held incorrect personal data on me and told me it would take 28 days before they could tell me which data source had the incorrect data, in clear breach of UK data protection law. It was their competitor, Experian, who actually had the correct data who found the source, which allowed me to go direct and fix the issue myself. Then this joke of a company, TransUnion, had the audacity to claim that they had the correct data all along when I know and can prove thet had the wtong date of birth. Breaching data protection law, poor service and bad attitude.
By way of update, I emailed TransUnion as requested on 12 March. On 30 March, they replied, once again denying that there was a problem. If I could lower my reveiw score, I would. Don't waste your time with this company.

Why has my rating dropped?
My credit rating went down recently, which surprised me as the only item that changed was paying off a loan and remortgaging from one provider to another. Surely the fact that a provider was positive enough to offer a new mortgage deal should be a positive?
TransUnion sent a response which read as an off-the-shelf everything in there list, rather than a specific reason why my rating had gone down.
