So frustrating. Would NOT recommend

I had a deeply frustrating and painful experience with Treadmill Doctor while attempting to purchase a replacement motor control board. I honestly feel their practice is deceptive and predatory.  The new board was not compatible with my treadmill despite reassurances otherwise. Communication with support both over email and tech support life was unfriendly and unhelpful. Their resolution after weeks of wasted time? Less than 50% refund. I’m hoping my experience and cost can at least serve as a warning and avoidance for others. Zero accountability by this company for their inadequate product and support.

You will not regret taking your business elsewhere. Turns out, having my old board rebuilt was easier, cheaper, faster and actually works.

We’re sorry to hear how frustrating this experience felt, Johnathan—but there are a few important facts here that need to be clarified for accuracy.

For Order #579742, the motor control board that was shipped was the correct part for the treadmill model provided at the time of purchase. There was no mismatch in what was ordered vs. what was sent.

When you later reported that the board was defective, we didn’t push back—we acted. We:

Offered to send a replacement
Provided a prepaid return label so we could evaluate the board at no cost to you

Once the board was returned, our warehouse tested it and confirmed that it was fully functional and not defective.

At that point, we laid out the available options clearly and transparently:

A replacement board (with the note that it was temporarily on backorder)
A refund processed in accordance with our posted return policy (which was also provided to you directly)

You chose to proceed with the refund, which was completed per policy, including the standard restocking and electronic testing fees that apply to all electronic returns.

We understand that ending up with less than the full purchase amount isn’t ideal—but that outcome wasn’t arbitrary or “predatory.” It was the result of a returned, fully functional electronic component being processed under the same terms every customer agrees to at checkout. Once a motor controller is installed, it can no longer be sold as new- the reason for the hefty restocking fees, which were clearly provided.

As for rebuilding your original board—if that route worked out for you, that’s great. In some cases, repair can be a viable alternative depending on the condition and availability of service providers.

That said, we stand behind the parts we ship, the testing we perform, and the process we followed here.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. The part sent was wrong, my machine wouldn’t even turn on after installation. The components were completely different from the original part. I reached out to customer service and sent pictures to verify this. I corresponded with Lauren Palma who takes several days to respond to emails, dragging it out to go beyond their 15 day return policy. She insisted the part was correct. I was then charged a 20% restocking fee and an additional 30% because the package was open even though she confirmed the part was in great working order and received back in excellent condition. In addition I also had to pay my own shipping. So on a $229 part, I only received $106 back. Horrible company and do not recommend.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re frustrated, but we do need to correct several key points in your review.

First, the part you received was not the wrong part. Based on the exact model and serial number you provided (NordicTrack Commercial 2450, NTL19125.2), the motor control board shipped to you is the correct and compatible replacement. We also reviewed the photos you submitted internally, and our technical team confirmed that the board you received is the updated manufacturer version. It is common for newer revisions to look different from older boards while maintaining the same connections and functionality.

Second, regarding the claim that components were “missing”—this is not accurate. The updated version consolidates and redesigns certain elements, which can make it appear different, but nothing required for operation is absent. This is standard in electronics manufacturing.

We also want to address the technician’s conclusion. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon in this industry for third-party technicians to label an upgraded or unfamiliar part as “incorrect,” particularly when they are attempting to sell a different part from their own inventory. That does not make the part incompatible.

Third, regarding the return and refund:
Before your purchase, you specifically asked about the return policy, and we provided it in writing. That policy clearly outlines:

A 20% restocking fee
A 30% electronic inspection/testing fee for non-defective returns

These are not hidden fees—they were disclosed both before purchase and again during the return process.

When your part was returned, it was tested and confirmed to be fully functional (non-defective). As a result, the refund was processed exactly according to the agreed-upon policy.

Lastly, on the service side: our team responded, reviewed your information, confirmed compatibility, and offered technical support to help get your treadmill running. That support was declined in favor of returning the part.

We understand that it’s frustrating when a repair doesn’t resolve the issue immediately, but in this case:

The correct part was sent
The part was functional
The refund was processed according to clearly communicated terms

We stand behind both our parts and our policies.

If you’d still like help diagnosing why your treadmill would not power on, our technical support team is available and happy to assist.

Do not buy from TreadmillDoctor

Do not buy from TreadmillDoctor! First time purchase with this company and I will never buy from them again. I accidentally ordered the wrong treadmill belt for my treadmill. I called them and followed their instructions to send it back immediately. I didn’t think anything of it at the time but noticed the inside of the belt was dirty when I received it. Even though I sent it back right away and re-ordered the correct one which ended up being a total of two charges for one treadmill belt, treadmill doctor refused to give me a refund for the wrong belt, claiming that it was dirty and used, although it absolutely was not used. I requested to speak with a manager several times via phone and email and was told by phone that a manager would return my call, but that never happened. When I followed up by email. I was told a manager would not be reaching out to me and that I would not be receiving a refund so I have now paid over $300 for one treadmill belt. Unfortunately I have learned an unpleasant lesson by choosing this company, I will not be a return buyer.
UPDATE TO RESPOND TO TD:
Reality injected into it?? Really? Very professional of you. Where is the belt I paid for that you’re not refunding me for? What are you doing with it?? So y’all are just going to keep the belt that I paid for instead of sending it back to me? The reality check it that I paid for a belt that you are not refunding me for or sending back to me. You’re keeping it which is called stealing. Funny how I don’t get a response back from you until I write a review.

Amanda, this one needs a little reality injected into it.

We only ship brand-new parts—full stop. We do not sell used belts, we do not refurbish belts, and we definitely don’t send out “dirty” inventory and hope no one notices. That’s not how we’ve operated for decades.

When you contacted us about the return, the reason provided was that the belt was the wrong size. At no point during that conversation did you mention that the belt arrived “dirty” or used. That detail only showed up later—after the return was received and declined due to its condition.

Here’s the part that matters:
Returned items must be in new, clean, and unused condition to be eligible for a refund. The belt that came back did not meet that standard. Once a belt shows signs of installation or use, it cannot be resold as new—so we don’t pass that problem along to the next customer. That’s not a loophole, that’s basic integrity.

As for the “two charges” comment—yes, because a second order was placed for the correct belt. That’s exactly how ordering works anywhere.

We also want to address the broader pattern here. This same review being posted across multiple platforms is something we unfortunately see from time to time—and it often aligns with situations where a return doesn’t meet policy but the customer still pushes for a refund anyway.

We stand behind our products and our policies. Most customers get the right part the first time, and when they don’t, we work within clearly stated terms to make it right.

We’re always happy to help—but we’re not going to resell a used part as new just to make a situation “go away.”

Crapy customer service

Ordered Nordictrak drive belt for my machine. It said it would fit on their website, the part number listed on their website was correct also. What I was shipped was a belt with a completely different number on it. They said that its the same size as the part number on their site. It does not fit and I emailed them right away after receiving my belt, it took 3 days for them to email me back. They gave no option of resolution. Had to order it from amazon and got the correct part.

Hi — we’re sorry to hear you left this experience feeling frustrated.

To clarify a couple of points for anyone reading this: the number printed on the belt itself is often not the manufacturer’s replacement part number. Many belts are marked with an internal factory size code, which is why the number on the belt may look different from the OEM part number listed on a website. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the wrong belt — it simply reflects how the belt manufacturer labels their products.

In situations where a belt truly doesn’t fit, we’re always happy to verify the correct part using the model and serial number of the machine, since treadmill manufacturers frequently release multiple revisions of the same model over time.

Regarding the response time, we do our best to respond as quickly as possible, but during peak repair season response times can occasionally be a little longer than we’d like. That said, we certainly never intend to leave a customer without options for resolving an issue.

If you’re open to it, we’d be happy to take another look at your order and make sure the correct belt is identified for your specific machine.

BUYER BEWARE OF BAIT & SWITCH

BUYER BEWARE: Treadmill Doctor has conflicting return policies that will cost you money.
I ordered a $400 control board that arrived on February 6th, 2026. When I installed it on February 28th, it didn't work. I requested a refund on March 1st - well within what I believed was my return window.
Here's the problem: My order confirmation email clearly stated "Please note: There is a 20% restocking fee on all returned parts. All parts must be returned within 30 days.
" However, they're now refusing the return, claiming electronic parts have a 15-day warranty from delivery.
If their actual policy is 15 days for electronic parts, that's what should be stated in the order confirmation - not 30 days. This is either a deceptive business practice or incompetent communication, and either way, it cost me $400.
Shop elsewhere. There are too many reputable suppliers of fitness equipment parts to risk this kind of treatment.

Reply from Treadmill Doctor

Hi Michael — we’re sorry you’re frustrated. A $400 part that doesn’t solve the problem is never a good day for anyone.

For clarity, electronic components such as control boards do carry a 15-day warranty/return window from the date of delivery. That policy is listed in the terms and conditions that customers agree to at checkout. The 30-day return language in the order confirmation refers to standard parts, while electronics have a shorter window because once they are installed or powered, they cannot be resold as new.

In this case the board was delivered February 6th and the return request was made March 1st, which is outside the electronic parts window. That’s why the return was declined.

That said, your feedback about the wording in the confirmation email is fair. Because of situations like this, we’ve updated our process so every order now includes printed warranty and return instructions in the package to make the policy clearer before installation.

We’ve been supplying treadmill parts and technical support to customers for decades, and our goal is always to help people get their machines running again as quickly as possible. We certainly wish this situation had turned out better for you and appreciate the feedback that helped us improve how we communicate our policies.

Belt didn't fit like OEM and slipped…

Belt didn't fit like OEM and slipped — no return after 30 days.

I bought a replacement belt that was listed specifically for my model treadmill and the OEM belt's part number. After install, I noticed that it would occasionally slip on the front roller. Tightening it seemed to help temporarily, but I kept having to tighten it more. Eventually I couldn't tighten the belt any more and the slipping continued. I had to call a treadmill repair tech to come look at it and he said I needed an OEM belt — the one I got from Treadmill Doctor was slightly too big and the material was slipping on the roller. He ordered a new OEM belt in, installed it, and it worked perfectly — no slipping at a moderate level of tightness. Treadmill Doctor said they couldn't refund my order because it was out of the 30-day window, and could only send me a replacement belt under the warranty. I don't need a replacement belt that doesn't fit — I want my money back for a belt that doesn't actually fit the machine it's supposed to!

Hi Steve,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We’re genuinely sorry for the frustration you experienced, and we do want to clarify a few important points for anyone reading this.

The belt you purchased in March 2025 was covered under our industry leading, 1-year warranty, and we did offer to replace it at no cost. That option was still fully available to you. What we could not do was issue a refund nearly 10 months after purchase, which is well outside our 30-day return window—a policy that’s standard across our industry (and honestly, most retail in general).

We stand behind our warranty and offer replacements when there’s a concern with fit or performance.

We absolutely understand wanting a refund, but after 10 months of use, a refund simply isn’t a reasonable or sustainable option for any retailer. We did everything we could within our policies to make this right, including offering a free replacement.

We appreciate the feedback and wish the outcome had been better for you, but we also have to be fair and consistent with the policies that allow us to support tens of thousands of customers every year.

Excellent Serive

Nordictrak bike screen went black and no resetting or rebooting it. After some googling found that control board was likely busted. Found Treadmill Doctor online and used their web chat to contact them. Got a real person (Mike) and not a bot. Mike gave me his email address and once I sent pictures of my bike’s code to him he gave me the right part info. Ordered it Friday from them and it was shipped and delivered to Ireland from the US by Monday morning! Replaced the part and bike back in operation. Excellent service and no issue with the quality of the parts received so far.

Note to Irish customers you will have to pay customs fees but this is nothing to do with the Treadmill Doctor!

You pay to get the wrong item

I went to them because they are the treadmill doctor and I thought they would know what to send me. I gave them my treadmill make and model and they sent me a belt that was to big so I emailed them and sent more pictures because I'm not sure exactly what size it is (they should know by the make of the treadmill) and they sent me another belt that was to small. I asked them what belt I should have because neither one they sent me fits my treadmill so I asked for the size in the middle and they said they didn't have any of those sizes. I sent the belts back and paid for shipping (both ways) for these belts but when they gave me a refund they would not pay for the shipping costs. So they are apparently the experts at treadmills and they have both belts back but it ended up costing ME MONEY and time because they sent the wrong belt to me... TWICE. I did ask them about giving me the money back for shipping but they said it was not in their policy.
Update to your reply
I sent you the model number and pictures so don't ship out items that you don't know are correct. You should also pay for shipping if you sent the wrong item because you didn't do your due diligence to make sure you are sending the correct part.
Update
I told you before that I did receive the correct one from another company that was neither of the ones you sent and it is working now so you did send the wrong ones. I did try fixing it with you but you did not have the part and that happens but why should I be out of pocket to still pay for the expensive shipping because of the wrong parts you sent and you made it clear that you would not refund that. Judging from your other reviews this is not the first time this has happened.
This is an example of a company that doesn't take ownership of a mistake they made and you can also see that in the replies they have made.
