I was so thrilled to find this website. I had never received therapy through a text and messaging service so I was skeptical. Regarding my daughter’s journey I was willing to see what it was all about.
The therapy we received was top notch! My daughter and I were able to go at our own pace at completing lessons, which I found very helpful. Therapy doesn’t work when you aren’t ready to tackle the issue. So completing lessons, asking questions and relaying this info to my daughter when situations called for it was so wonderful. I highly recommend this company and our therapist Ivana

Life-Changing App

TrichStop changed my life in ways that I couldn't imagine. I had been pulling for over 20 years and had all but given up on myself and psychologists/counsellors who were not at all familiar with my condition. I took a leap of faith with this programme and through these 6 months, found myself re-learning about my condition all over again, deploying the new tools I previously was not aware about (yes, even after 20 years of having the same condition, you can still be learning new things about it!).

My pulling has reduced and it's a lot more manageable now. Crucially, TrichStop has helped free me from the mental distress that accompanies hair pulling more than the actual physical damage itself. What I like about it:

1. Evidence-based approaches
-Every one who has trich is really in it for the long haul most times, and we need a whole toolbox of strategies that actually work and can be applied in different contexts.

2. A team that specialises in BFRBs
-Some of the therapists even have the condition themselves so I felt it made them more understanding and empathetic. It also helped me to trust and be more receptive to their suggestions as well.

3. Opportunity to attend support groups
-Knowing you're not the only one helps a lot, every staff on the team seems intentional and committed to building a supportive community for clients too and I'm really grateful for this.

4. Empowering the client
-I liked that I could work on the sessions at my own pace, and discreetly by typing on an app or my computer. The content is insightful but not too overwhelming. A supportive therapist also consistently and patiently guides you towards application. Many of the lessons extend beyond BFRBs itself, veering into general emotional regulation territory that would be helpful even to people without this condition. To my surprise, I realised that I preferred the online therapy format to traditional talk therapy because it allowed me to process my thoughts better before sharing them.

I would like to especially thank my therapist, Laura Santner, for her incredible patience, insight, and encouragement. It is truly not easy reading a wall of text sometimes and I have new appreciation for the hard work that online therapists do! And to everyone at TrichStop, thank you for making a difference in my life!

Stopped my hair pulling

Trichstop helped with not just hair pulling but also other BFRBs. I've not pulled my hair in over a month. The tools on the app (like tracking urges and pulling, or recording how well different competing responses work) are great and make you feel like you have more control over your BFRBs. Only thing I would say is that the app is a little bit glitchy, but still perfectly useable overall!

Michaela was phenomenal

Michaela was phenomenal. She challenged me and helped me notice patterns, then she helped me sit with the discomfort of learning new habits. I am so grateful for how gently she treated me and how productive it was working with her. I used trichstop for 6mo and got so much value. I understand my pulling better now and, I didn't stop entirely, but I have much more in the toolbox to resist urges and have thicker hair.

You get out of Trichstop what you put in

My experience with Trichstop was positive. I learned a lot about the triggers of my unwanted hair pulling habits and became comfortable with the fact that I struggle with trich. I let go of a lot of shame and tension I had about obsessively hiding this part of my life. My Trichstop therapist Vedrana (who was so caring and encouraging) helped me recognize and address a lot of the underlying anxiety/negativity of my condition and then supported me in exploring healthier, more accepting responses.

I thought the modules were released at a good pace. Sadly I didn't complete the program all the way (I think I had one or two modules to go) because my financial situation changed... But if you can afford it, I highly recommend giving it a try at least, especially if you're dedicated to completing the program and putting in the consistent work.

The important thing is that this program works if you work at it. The effort you put in will affect the results you see in yourself. That means you need to keep up with the weekly self-assessment, daily hair-pulling log, regular chats with your Trichstop therapist, maybe even attend a group session, and *definitely* practice the steps you learn through each module before moving on to the next. You'll have many opportunities to be introspective and get honest about uncomfortable things related to hair pulling, your emotions, and most likely your past, so don't avoid these parts (these are important parts of the process).

If I could do this program over again I would make sure to dedicate more time and intention -- at least 5-15 mins every day to it, instead of only fully using it when my pulling got "bad". I wish I would have been more consistent with it through the entire program.

When using the tools provided in the program, I found the desktop version to be better than the app, because the desktop user experience feels less cluttered (at least to me). The more modules you complete, the more tools you'll have available to you -- all of them are useful and necessary, but personally I just didn't like having to dig for each one in the mobile app; it got kind of overwhelming.

Trichstop has a lot of potential and I'd love to see them make this program more affordable for people who need it. I'd love to do it again and complete the full program once I have the means to do so. Overall I recommend it to anyone struggling with trich!

I'm grateful for TrichStop

I joined the program ever since November 2022 and it has truly been life changing for me. I can genuinely say I am at peace and contented with life after having finished the program as I was able to overcome trichotillomania, something that I have been struggling with for the last 8 years.

Looking back now, joining the program was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I am so thankful for the support and encouragement I have received from my therapist and the TrichStop team. I was very worried at first considering that I hate being vulnerable myself but if there's anyone in the world that can help me and understand what I'm going through, it's TrichStop.

As I'm writing this review, it's nearing the days of my birthday and all I can really say is beating trichotillomania was the best gift I could have ever given to myself and it was all made possible with the support from the TrichStop team.

Thank you Trichstop!:)

I've had trichotillomania since I was 9 years old. I started Trichstop at 23 after years of feeling absolutely helpless and not being able to find anyone who could give me the help I needed. Trichstop changed my life for the better and I am forever grateful for my therapist and the people who work there. This was the first time I've felt seen and heard. This is not to say that any of it it easy, it's not, it takes hard work and a lot of inner work. But they finally gave me the tools to minimize my pulling and take advantage of my life. Thank you trichstop team for giving me my life back!

Excellent therapy program! I have gone through many psychotherapeutic processes/programs but none has been as effective as this one. I can highly recommend Vladimirs group sessions and Ivana as a personal therapist.

They do not refund.

So i used the program for about a month then decided to cancel for personal reasons. I cancelled my membership the day before it withdrew from my account thinking it would let me continue using it until the next billing cycle but no, it immediately shut me out of the program. I emailed customer service for a refund and they said they don't issue refunds but will credit me if i choose to sign up again... When I signed up i didn't see anything saying that they don't issue refunds.
UPDATE: AFTER SEVERAL EMAILS AND THEIR TEAM SEEING THIS REVIEW THEY ISSUED THE REFUND.

Try this program!

I started doing this program with minimal expectations but it really turned my habit around. I have struggled for many years and nothing really helped long term. This program helps to dig deeper to figure out the root of the issue and build back up from there. This program gave me the tools to stick with it and control my urges. My therapist was great and gave me good feedback along the way. Thank you Lindsay!

If you fully committed to making the effort to stop pulling this is the program for you. It will not be easy and you will have to make the conscious effort to be aware of pulling, but the guidance from your counselor and the groups can make it happen.

So Glad I Took This Course

My therapist Vedrana was super helpful and guided me through helping my 2 year old stop pulling her hair. Now, if she pulls her hair we have tools to figure out why and how to help her stop. I’m so glad I took this course!

A structured programme which works!

I have had trichotillomania for more than a decade, struggling to control this behaviour since the age of 16. Over the years I have tried various ways to tackle it: thinking it will go away by itself, reading blogs, reading books, buying bracelets, but all of these only gave me temporary relief as the symptoms kept coming back over and over again.

The realisation came that the roots of the problem are psychological and in order to tackle these I need dedicated support and a team of experts who would take me through a structured programme which would allow me to both explore the psychological background, explore mindfulness techniques as well as specific tools and approaches to tackle the urges.

My therapist, Lindsay, was great as she would gently prompt me to explore the role of trichotillomania for me in more depth and gain a better understanding of various options to tackle and decrease the urges.

Thank you, TrichStop Team and thanks Lindsay!

Life-Changing Experience

This program was such a blessing for my daughter, and for me as well. It was quite the learning process. I didn't realize how vital my role was going to be in my daughter's success to stop pulling her hair. I thought this was something she was going to do on her own, but I learned quickly that was not the case. We worked through this program together, grew closer, and celebrated achievements great and small. She hasn't pulled her hair in over two months, and I know without this life-changing program and a fantastic therapist (Thanks, Vedrana!), she wouldn't have been so successful!

Very beneficial

When I first started the program, I only expected to learn some ways to keep my hands out of my hair so I could get on with the rest of my life. I wasn't expecting to learn so much about myself and how much my life has been shaped by different experiences. I'm glad I did. Hair pulling has been a problem for me since I was a child, and I never understood why I did it until now. This program has helped me to repair my relationship with my hair and myself. I am grateful for stumbling upon it, and I would recommend anyone else struggling to check it out!
