Stayed there for 3 nights in July, and it was one of the most memorable stays of my life. Ian and Elizabeth, the hosts, were warm, friendly, and incredibly hospitable throughout my visit. Ian also has amazing knowledge of the island's culture and history, and gave great recommendations for places to visit and walks/hikes on the Isle of Harris.
The rooms are spotless and comfortable, with everything you need, plus thoughtful little touches you didn't realise you needed until you had them. The decor and furniture throughout the house and rooms were lovely too. I was treated to home-baked sweets both at check-in and after checkout, and they were absolutely delicious.
Breakfast was excellent, and there's also the option of a packed lunch with some great choices. A laundry service is available for £15 per bag, which was a handy touch.
My room looked out over Clisham, the highest mountain on Harris, with binoculars in the room so I could really take in the view. Scalpay itself is about a 20-minute drive from Tarbert, a beautiful little town. I had dinner nearby at North Harbour Bistro, and the food was fantastic.
