Watch your belongings…

Tyre Spot was recommended to me by a friend when I ask her about garages who do not rib off woman. As I was a new driver at the time and know very little about cars. I always used the Team Valley Tyre Spot and can not fault them in any way they were very kind even let me take my dogs into the reception area. Then I moved addresses and I was closer to the Durham tyre spot though I still continued to go there I did not find them as welcoming or friendly like team valley but they did the job. until I bought a Honda the car came with a spare small box of tyre bolts, I had to get one of my tyres checked he box was in the glove box when I went into the garage and not there when I came out. When I asked about where it was they denied ever seeing the box. I know it was there because I checked it before I set off for Tyre Spot as that was the only place I was going and no one else was in the car. Unfortunately I cannot prove it, it is my word against theirs but I believe someone in that garage took my spare wheel bolts and I will never use them again I will say please everyone who uses them be careful of your belongings

No integrity

I have been a loyal Tyre Spot customer for over 20 years and have always admired their integrity. However, on Tuesday 17/07/2018 I asked my wife to take the car in and have the air conditioning unit re-gassed. The front tyres were unevenly worn. One side was well within the required limit, but the other was becoming fairly close to the legal limit on the inside edge. I measured it at just over 2mm, so I asked my wife to have them check it while she was there as I knew they would normally provide a “traffic light” sheet providing a more accurate indication of wear. This was intended primarily for my own peace of mind. She did ask me if they would try to rip her off, but I told her I trusted them and she would be fine. While she was at the Gosforth branch of Tyre Spot, she rang to tell me that she was being told that I needed 2 new tyres. I was rather surprised, but told her just to go ahead with it. Afterwards, she rang again and told me I needed new brake pads. This time I spoke to the person in the reception office who described the pads as being “virtually metal on metal” (a fairly graphic description) and it would cost £80 - £90 to replace them. I declined, stating that I would do the job myself. My wife returned home and handed me a copy of the invoice. This stated “Front brake pads 90% worn customer declined”. 90% worn implies around 1.5mm remaining, which is the MoT limit, but implies rather less wear than metal on metal. I measured them at around 4mm; all evenly worn an generally healthy. If 90% worn, they must have been 40mm thick originally!
Maybe they have new management in place who put profit before integrity. This is not uncommon when there are financial targets to be met or profit related bonus payments to be earned, but my confidence in Tyre Spot has been damaged beyond repair and if they continue conducting their business in this manner, I doubt they will survive. I feel naively stupid for putting such trust in them, but we are not as stupid as these people choose to believe.
Air conditioning works well.

Waste of time. Consett depot.

I had booked a tyre fitting for 1pm, I called in early as I was already near the fitting depot during the morning and I asked if I could possible have my tyres fitted earlier since I was in the area. I told him I already had a booking for 1pm. As I expected, he said I would have to come back because they were busy however I was told to come back after 2. Which is one hour after my appointment was booked for. I then returned to the depot at around 2:15-2:30 and I greeted one of the employers and was rudely ignored and unreasonably looked at. I told him I had an appointment at 1 then I was told to come back after 2, he then told me that I was going to have to wait a further one hour. The employer I was talking to throughout my experience did not try and help me, did not offer an additional service while I waited and did not try and be fitting around my appointment. He was rude and abrupt and I will not be returning. He made my day 10x harder than it should be and he did not try and accompany a customer. Throughout my day there and the amount of times I went, I only saw one working employer. The rest as no where to be seen. Unacceptable experience. Unsatisfied, non returning customer.

Tyrespot Team Valley Gateshead …

Went to Tyrespot Team Valley Gateshead and got a 1st class service. My Freelander 2 was showing signs of uneven wear on the front offside tyre. Dave, the manager assured me that it was a long way off being illegal and didn't need a new tyre yet. I know that with these vehicles you need to replace the tyres in pairs but didn't realise you should keep all 4 the same make if possible. Decided to bite the bullet and replace both front tyres and get alignment checked. Got a great deal on the tyres and got a free 4 wheel alignment check at the same time which showed only the front off side was way off, the other 3 were spot on, so no bull there. Now all fixed, steering wheel straight again and well happy, thanks to all at Tyrespot.

Unacceptable slow

Before i always buy new tyres in here and made alignment and other stuff and was quick and fear price. This time was super slow because all member staff from tyrespot busy stand in one place and talk but not do job, price same as everywhere. It's really disappointing I like it this place before, but now was my last time in here and I will not recommend anyone.

If I could give 0 I would!

If I could give 0 I would. I had 4 new tyres fitted, costing over £500 at Durham. Luckily I had only done about 10 miles when it was booked in for MOT and service at a different garage. Received a phone call to say it was the worst fitting they had ever come across with 3 out of 4 tyres loose and on 1 of the wheels the nuts could be undone with fingers. It was so bad they sent me a video of it! To make matters worse Tyrespot insisted that I return to the depot so that they could check my mileage and when I got there they didn't bother looking. (Probably because they hadn't recorded it in the first place) A complete waste of an hour of my time.
Next they agreed to refund the fitting charge £42. The least they could do as they didn't do the job properly in the first place. I didn't realise at the time but instead of a refund they charged me twice more meaning I had now paid about £1500. I returned the next day with receipts to sort it out and was told they couldn't balance their records so could I leave it with them a couple of days! only after kicking up a fuss was the money refunded. Another hour of my time wasted. The only explanation given for both events was, "We didn't do it on purpose." That's alright then!
Fitting that could have had catastrophic consequences and incompetent management. Buy here at your own risk. My advice is DON'T.

Payed for tracking on 2006 vectra cdti …

Payed for tracking on 2006 vectra cdti . Steering wheel still off centre, and still had same wobble wrote them email was told come down we,ll sort it was told theyed recheck tracking balance wheels steering etc . Everything was just the same. Been to well established garages tyre fitters specialist tracking tyre fitters shops all told me the tracking hasnt been touched miles out . They nuts and parts that is used to adjust the tracking hasnt been touched in years as evident by lack off tool marks or disturbance in quite some time. Also tyrespot told me I needed specialist 4 wheel rear alignment, baring in mind its a2006 vectra I dont think so. People beware they are proper cowboys.

FOCUS ST 170 TRACKING

These people had £80 off me to do the tracking on my st and did the job in about 20 minutes. Great I thought..... They had no interest in how my car drove afterwards..... The steering wheel was off and the car now handles worse than it did before..... Took it back and felt unwelcome with them working on my car, was told we have fifty grand machine and it's telling us your car is fine ...... Bunch of monkeys wouldn't let them chop me a bag of sticks

Disappointing

Took our car in for four new Dunlop tyres which were cheaper than elsewhere. Disappointing that they checked the tracking for free, but surprise, surprise, it needed ' a lot of work to correct it'. Nothing to prove that it actually needed doing and they never even asked if it was ok to carry out the work!

I had checked before leaving my keys that they had my number, only to find they had carried out work without permission and without even trying to contact me, and then slapped an extra bill on the counter before I could pick up my keys.

Discount tyres to get you through the door, then slip some extra work in to make the profit margin back up.

Profit before service means I won't be going back.

Dangerous work

Got my discs and pads changed here, something I'd usually do myself but had no time.
Picked my car up and drive onto the dual carriageway only to find they hadn't screwed the wheel on. It wasn't even fingertight. Absolutely disgusted, ,choose somewhere else.
