Fixed and educated

I took an old laptop in to the Reno location to get an upgraded hard drive. The person doing the work was helpful and patient with me, a near-total computer illiterate. Being happy with that result, I took a newer laptop in to get it upgraded. A different technician at the shop was was helpful and advised me that this newer laptop did not need an upgrade and suggested I contact my ISP to check on the bandwidth they were providing me.

Update

Update: This place is a absolute joke! It's the next day and the guy who was suppose to be working on my computer that called out yesterday and supposed to be in today, called out again. So I went to get my computer back and found out that not only did they do absolutely nothing, they were lying the entire time about starting the process. They never touched it. It's in the same exact condition as when I dropped it off. Now I lost two weeks of work and the money for the first month of the service program that they conned me into signing up for. I'm definitely working on my refund, but I warn you, if you go to this place it's at your own risk! If they had a zero or negative number rating I would have given it that! FACTS!

This is one of those if I could give 0…

Memphis, TN locations; This is one of those if I could give 0 stars I would situations. Terrible staff. Poor service. Poor communication. Poorly ran. Owner is monopolizing these shops only to hire unintelligent staff, manager/owner unable to manage situations, and overall poor service. Kept my work computer for over a month, did not start buy out process until I called corporate. Filed consumers complaint, did not respond. Terrible Asurion is making a mistake by allowing this Brian guy to monopolize these locations. He is unable to manage these locations properly. Not to mention he tried to repair my Mac book, the owner Brian or Brandon, and returned it to me saying it was all good only to travel out of the country, and find out I could not have zoom meetings, because it was not actually repaired properly. Part was said to be on order for over 2-3 weeks, but in fact there was no part at all.

I took my Galaxy Z Flip 3 in to have the front screen replaced at $575!!! I come in to pick up the phone and open it in front of the employee for the 1st time and the back falls off! This broke the front screen connector. They blame it on the pop up I had on it. This Part worked fine until they worked on it. Now it's falling apart 1st time it's opened in front of them and it's my fault?!? Now I need to pay for more parts? If I had known I would have saved the $700 and bought a new phone. They take no responsibility.

Running a warranty rejection scam

Be very wary of this company. Took a Samsung Fold under warranty in to be repaired. They said that due to physical damage on the phone Samsung would reject the repair. The physical damage they referenced was very minor scuffs on the side of the phone where the hinge rubbed the protective case. (The phone was in a hard case from the day it was bought.) They claimed that if they fixed the phone under warranty that Samsung would refuse to pay them. They suggested I pay the $500+ myself. After going around with them it came out that "Samsung doesn't pay us what it is worth to fix these phones and they only make money when people pay themselves." Thus, they try to find reasons to reject warranty claims. I took the phone the same day to Best Buy, they repaired it and never even mentioned the "scuffs." Ubreak is headed for a class action lawsuit.

250$ to not get fixed Chandler Az

My husband took his phone S8 to a U-Break it we fix it in Chandler AZ. Today we picked it up and the screen was broken on fixed but the phone was ruined. It did a round of on and off and rebooting. The operating system appeared to be rotating on and off. My husband spent 4 hours trying to get help from Samsung with disapointing results. He got worried about being scamed by this company. It cost us 250$ to get a broken phone not fixed.

Be Aware your item can be stolen

I took my 8th grade son Apple Mac Pro for repair due that he accidentally dropped it. I was told the amount will be a little more than $500 and that the part was not there they will have to order it and that I will be contacted. About 3 weeks after I was told the part arrived. I went and made first payment I was given a receipt. Notice I was never ever told or emphasize that I had a few days to pick up my item. They stay quite on that and of course they hide behind by saying is in your receipt. Which lets be real who really reads all that small writing. A few weeks after I went to pick up the Mac and I was told it was no longer there but it was taken to storage. Now imagine they stayed with the amount of the repair that I first made plus with the brand new repair Mack Pro ($$$). THE RECEIPT MENTIONS THEY MAKE TWO PHONE CALLS AFTER 60 days the items is not picked up. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED NOR LEFT A MESSAGE OR TEXT as proof they did so. Of course the plan for them is to stay with the items repaired after you have paid for the parts. Now I have a 8th grader boy struggling with homework and school work due that he has not computer now. I cant believe how little companies like them can take such a huge advantage of hard working families that struggle to give things like this to our kids for school. Talk to the manager … don’t bother they just don’t give you no options but really just say in your face your lost. Please be aware dont just trust and give your hard works money as easy. I don’t know what else to do to get this Mac back. They of course don’t want the last payment of the repair they get more money by keeping the Mac Pro. That’s why they are just closing the doors by saying there’s nothing they can do. 😞

ubrekifix is not the place you want to…

ubrekifix is not the place you want to take your phone to get repairs done. It will end up with more problems than solutions. My s22 ultra was supposed to get a screen replacement since it was shattered. They completely messed up the selfie camera lens and were not willing to fix what they damaged. They wanted to charge me to repair what they messed up. After complaining they called me back to repair it but then there's a huge black spot on the screen that keeps getting bigger each day. I will definitely have to get a new phone now. Just know that these "technicians" don't know what they are doing.

I went in for an M.2 SSD upgrade

I went in for an M.2 SSD upgrade and provided the SSD myself. Being a lightweight in computer building myself I was not confident in my ability and this is the first time I ever used a service like a computer repair company and it will definitely be my last.

They literally only installed the SSD physically and didn't even check it to make sure it worked or anything lol. As I'm typing this I'm doing everything right now to find a way to format this new M.2 SSD going in my bios, going through my computer management etc.

For all I know they could of let me install an incompatible SSD lmao. Let me get this out of the way by also saying when you meet them in person they live for the thrill of telling you all about their monthly subscription service which I will admit it does sound good at first. However I can see how the operation works, they will do the bare minimum on a simple upgrade request or a "tune up" as they call it with their corporate slang, and not fully do the task being asked.

They could very well change a lightbulb with a broken one and not even turn it on and just walk away thinking they fixed it lol.

I tried to get in contact with them about it and was pretty much told "hey sorry man we tried to get you to get that $20 a month subscription so it's gonna be another $50". Then was pretty much told to learn how to do it myself lol.

From my experience today it's not a place of passion. I absolutely felt belittled a little bit like I was dumb or something after I called back. But to be honest I only feel dumb for putting my trust in a shop like this ngl. Do yourself a favor and take your electronics somewhere else. I wouldn't trust these guys to repair an Xbox Controller lol.

UPDATE: They actually "installed" my M.2 SSD in the wrong slot. What a waste of a college education for their "technicians" lol.

uBreakiFix? More like fix me a 6 piece nugget meal with a large fry at McDonalds because that's where their "computer technicians" belong lmao.

uBreakiFix Stole my laptop

I saw that they are listed as a hp repair center on the hp website and so I brought my damaged hp spectre x360 with a few days of warranty left to them for repair. However, they said they are not a repair center and charged me. Even worse, I waited for months just to found out that my device was stolen by someone breaking into their shop, then the guy on phone said that they will get me a new one. Yet, after a month or so, I still didn't get an update, so I went there. Then they took out two completely broken hp laptops that's not even the right model for me to choose one. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! Also, they can't provide any prove of the existence of the "thieve". I strongly suspect that UBREAKIFIX STOLE MY LAPTOP!!! The worst part is, ALL MY IMPORTANT DATA IS GONE. I am sure that my PCIe was totally working.

Wanted to be a customer. Took in my galaxy fold 4 and asked for price.
Got met with suspicion and probing questions. Won't be covered under warranty. Did not ask for warranty work.
Read reviews, Discover it is a franchise.
Uneasy feeling.
550 repair on a 2000 dollar phone seems OK, but will buy another phone than have my phone disappear behind a storefront franchise.
Repair shop doesn't need to be a glass showplace but repairing high end equipment with personal data needs to provide confidence and transparency.

Angry

Back in October 17,2022, I communicated with the owner of the Dalhousie St. (Ottawa Ontario) location requesting that my charge port on my cell phone be fixed. I was told it could be done, I could buy a no name port it may or may not last or an actual LG port at a larger cost will last 2 yrs. I sent a deposit for the LG part... here's what went on....

I wrote....So I spoke with my husband and we both agree that the $149.00 for the actual LG port is better option;
As I said though my Daughter is in the hospital right now, and between the Chemotherapy, radiation and palliative care appointments I'm sitting vigile at her bedside so it's a matter of trying to figure out a good time to drop off the phone - we're looking to sooner than later
He wrote
I will order the part now and update you when it arrives. At that point in time we can schedule the repair to be done AS QUICK AS POSISBLE. If you wouldn't mind please send in a deposit via etransfer of 35$ We can order the part as soon as the deposit arrives.
I requested a quote
He wrote
No worries. It's $149.99, includes labor. Taxes are extra. I sent the deposit and was told Part is ordered. Should arrive for tomorrow or the day after.

I messaged Oct 21,
as I hadn't heard anything after sending the deposit, I received and asked if the part arrived?
He wrote
Hi, yes it has. We are ready to do the repair for you tomorrow.

I answered
What time slots are available for day Monday or Tuesday?

He answered
Please don't even worry about the repair. Come in whenever you want. Doesn't matter. You pick and choose.

I went down, was told he was unable to fix my phone as he's in a meeting as someone was trying to buy out his company could I come back? I felt bad and said of course.
I went back Nov 15,22...my Daughter had lost her torturous battle to Cancer the week before. I waited over an hour and half, they said they fixed it, but my phone had no data? I said that was impossible as I literally just used it in the waiting room. They decided that the part was defective and they'd have to order a new one.
I touched base Nov 30, Dec 03 and Dec 04, asking if my part came in yet...
Finally December 22, I wrote Good evening, I've been patient and have waited a very long time since October 17th to get my phone fixed, can I please just get a refund

He wrote
Hi Ofcourse. We are closed for the next little while.
Please send me your email address and we will refund you immediately. Sorry about that, this fell through the cracks.

I did....so far no refund!!!

RIP OFF!!!

RIP OFF!!!! I brought my kids iPad there for a new glass screen. Almost two weeks and $180 it was done.
1st off they said the fingerprint would no longer work?
2nd they said I should buy another screen protector for it.
I ordered a glass screen protector and when I was opening the iPad from home button the entire screen spidered in my hand and broke!!! When I called them to get addressed I asked what hardness glass they were using and if to Apple spec and was not given any reason to believe otherwise they use the cheapest lowest grade replacement glass. If you have an Apple product please don’t use this place do yourself a favor and go to an Apple Store. I break u fix is a fraud, a sham, rip off artists. You would have to be a complete idiot to use them after reading this review.

You take. They break. They lie. They don't fix.

Product: Samsung Z-Fold 3
Situation (10am-6:30pm): Took phone in for warranty repair and approval with ticket number from manufacturer. Left phone with manager with both screens working and a couple pixels missing on inside screen. After going back three times, making 4 calls to the manufacturer (one call on speaker phone while inside store with manager, Samsung rep and me) I received my phone back with pixels still missing on inside screen and now outside screen not working. The technician broke my outside screen. While the inside screen pixel issue was covered under warranty, I was asked for my credit card to pay for outside screen that they broke before manager would give me my phone. I didn't give manager my credit card and manager 'un-repaired' my phone before giving it back. Had to mail phone to manufacturer for repair for free, because it was approved to be covered under warranty. Samsung was great and handled me with the quality service any customer deserves, while uBreakiFix offered contrary service. While the manager's tone remained calm, what the manager said and did was different each of the three times I went into the store.

Other details - Before my visit to uBreakiFix, I visited my local AT&T store, verified phone's manufacturer's warranty was still active and insurance claim was not necessary at this time. Called Samsung, confirmed condition of phone and that warranty covered issue, received ticket number and referred to two uBreakiFix locations nearest me. I chose the closest location - Spartanburg. I stopped by Spartanburg location to confirm that the part was in the night before and the store representative inspected my phone. I told him I'd return the next day for the warranty repair. In addition, the Samsung rep confirmed the part was to be mailed to the location and provided me the ticket number for the warranty repair. I was first person there at 10 am and the store manager checked me in and communicated with me most of the process.

Protocol broken: Manager asked for my phone's access code and did not offer factory reset. Manager never provided me with a repair ticket after taking my phone back for warranty repair. Manager said Samsung only covers one repair during the warranty period. After breaking the outside screen on my phone, I now have two issues with my phone. I went to another uBreakiFix in the area to confirm protocol and found that the manager in fact broke several protocols noted above. I spoke with several manufacturer representatives and confirmed protocol was indeed broken.

I can only review this location and based on my experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone. After reading other reviews it appears to be a consistent theme and changing the name of uBreakiFix does not change their practices and level of service. I can only imagine how much it costs the manufacturers because of mistakes and breaks their 'Authorized Technicians' make.
