I originally sent this Review to the Manager, Techtronic Ind. Marlow but have had no reply.
I am very, very disappointed with the Bug Zappers performance RY18BZA and cannot understand why other users have rated it a 5.. I have bought many things from Ryobi, including Lawn Scarifier, Hedge Cutters, Secateurs, Batteries and chargers etc. and found them all well made, of excellent quality and rating 5. However the following is my experience with the Bug Zapper RY18BZA:
A/ So far it has not caught any flies - either they are not being attracted to the blue light; or the frequency of the Bug Zapper is not correct; or the lamp is under powered. They are flying around the kitchen.
B/ I have heard the Zing sound of the Bug Zapper when it has caught something. In the Bug Zapper tray I have seen Moths and minute Biters. But as I was looking, one of the Biters flew off and the Moths were moving. They were not dead. Hence the power of the Bug Zapper is not enough to kill them.
C/ I have taken the outer casing off and there are dead Moths and Biters in the uprights, which I expected.
D/ It is very expensive. I can buy a Zapper with Mains Plug, 5 star rating for £50.
E/ At the end of the Owners Handbook under Product Specifications, it states "compatable Battery Packs RB18...C/ RB18...X I am using Ryobi 4Ah High Energy battery RB1840T Why is the Handbook not brought up to date as I am sure this 18V+ battery is usable with this device.
