Prompt and efficient

Easy to book online. Technician arrived spot on time. Explained what he was doing. Work carried out promptly and efficiently. Courteous and obviously took pride in his work. Helpful staff on the phone with updates.

The technician mucked me around. But they were reasonable about it in the end.

The technician they set me up with mucked me around and bs’d me about he’d be late, then later, when it got to 4:30 I got a call to say he’d broken down, much much further than 30 mins from my house, a somewhat dubious claim. This meant that after taking a day off from work to get this sorted, I had to take another day off the following day to drive to the business’s unit over an hour away from my house. This sucked. I wish I’d just paid the extra money and gone with autoglass, they’re much, much more reliable.

Update: UKGC got in contact with me to discuss the situation in an understanding and reasonable fashion and gave me a small but generous (around 20% of the cost of the job) offer of compensation as a gesture of goodwill which was much appreciated. Fair play.

I got in touch with UK Car Glass via…

I got in touch with UK Car Glass via the website and filled in the details required (it was out of office hours) the following morning I received a text around 8am. The quote was almost £500 cheaper then the big national company. I accepted the quote via the link and made payment. Within 10 minutes my order had gone through and a technician had been assigned to me. Got a call from the technician asked if I was free that afternoon which I was so it worked out great for me. Arrived promptly at 1.45pm and had finished by around 2.20pm. I would highly recommend UK Car Glass. Really impressed with the speed of the service received. My student has a driving test booked for Monday and the examiners will not take a car out on test with the size of cracked I had on my Ford Focus (23 plate) once again thank you.

Professionals

Professionals. Order before weekend. Expected on Monday but I was informed that they expecting window on Tuesday, Wednesday. Called me couple of times to inform me with updates. Called me the day. Came and sorted very quick. That what I call professionals. Really pleased with service.

Online quotes not to be trusted

The quoted prices displayed on the website are not to be trusted. My very reasonable sounding quote for a Volvo V60 windscreen replacement was swiftly followed up by a text message and subsequent phone call telling me that even though I've already provided car model details, the price would actually be almost 50% more than originally quoted due to factors relating to my car model. No thank you very much!

To quote the FAQs section at the bottom of the very same quote page:

Q: Is there any extra cost?
A: No! That would be unfair; we aim to provide the correct replacement price the first time, as long as the correct attributes have been selected in the process.

I question whether this could constitute a breach of trading standards...

I understand how disappointing it must be to receive a lower online price only to discover it doesn’t apply.

Selecting the correct windscreen can be challenging, which is why we always run a parts check using the vehicle’s VIN number to ensure the right screen is quoted.

When you answered “No” to “Does your windscreen have noise reduction (acoustic)?”, our system returned £713.84.

However, the correct windscreen for your Volvo V60 (with acoustic (noise reduction), green tint, heated windscreen, rain sensor, VIN notch and camera) is £1,003.45.

This was confirmed by a parts search based on your VIN number; I will email you the result shortly.

Because there is no acoustic windscreen option with an integrated camera, the follow-up questions relating to those features did not appear once “No” was selected.

We are committed to transparent pricing and always offer you the opportunity to review your selections before finalising your booking.

Our FAQ promises no hidden fees, provided the correct attributes are selected.

Identifying the correct windscreen is a complex process, and obtaining an online price does not automatically constitute a binding quote.

We carry out a VIN look-up on every booking and quote request, giving us 99.9 % accuracy and no guesswork.

First Class Service

I have had my windscreen replaced by Smartfit windscreens through UK car glass - the service was very good from arrangements made by Jacqui from UK Car Glass through to Martyn from Smartfit Windscreens, the fitting of the windscreen was top class and I would throughly recommend this company.
