As first time buyers, we thought Laura at Underwood Vinecomb was absolutely fantastic. Her great communication and clear explanations made the whole process stress-free and straightforward. We have just completed the sale of my late Mother’s property, after a long period of no success. During the sales process, which was quite stressful, Solicitor Kelly Carr was extremely helpful, professional and kind. She has an extremely pleasant telephone manner and skill. After a slowish start to the process, mainly due to Stamp Duty workload, she really progressed and pushed for an exchange and completion date. We requested the payment by cheque, which she personally delivered whilst feeling unwell. Thank you Kelly. Would not hesitate to use her or the practice again. We have used them several times.

We didn’t deal directly with this solicitor—they acted on behalf of our buyers—but our experience was poor nonetheless. Throughout the process, they were slow and at times completely unresponsive, which caused unnecessary delays and stress.

Following completion, our solicitors contacted them for support regarding a breach of contract, as the property was left in an unacceptable state: a broken toilet, bins overflowing, rubbish left in every room, the garage, and even behind the shed. This should all have been removed prior to completion.

Their response? “We are not litigators and are not instructed to deal with such matters. Your client should have checked the state and condition before exchange of contracts—caveat emptor.” This reply was dismissive and unhelpful. We exchanged contracts three weeks prior while the sellers were still living there, so clearly we couldn’t have known the condition it would be left in.

It seems once the sale is done and they’ve been paid, they wash their hands of any responsibility. If you’re looking for a solicitor who offers ongoing support or takes any accountability, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Their excuses don’t hold up, and you may find yourself out of pocket and without any help.

I had an awful experience overall, viital documents being lost in the mail and they failed entirely on each task I asked them to complete. I'm still waiting for a reply to my complaint letter that I sent signed for delivery on the 20/01/24. The worst. Avoid.

We were owed £2,182 which we had paid before Christmas for flights cancelled in April.

Five emails and 12 phone calls to the Flight Centre over three months had got us nowhere.
