I have learned that they can say and do anything they want. The paying customer has no rights and no recourse. I have experienced too many problems and failures to correct those problems to list. They have beaten me into submission. They have caused me mental, financial and physical harm through their incompetence and disregard. I would like to write a useful review but I know now that it will not do anything. The only positive thing that could happen is this company going bankrupt.

Poorest excuse for healthcare. Denied all my quality of life meds. Now, they say I have to have cancer of the neck for them to approve the nerve blocks for migraine relief. My migraine meds are 3000 a month. I am a retired educator.....I have never had to suffer with migraines until now, when corrupt optum denied all my meds. My Neurologists are furious about this company. Everyone hates them. I hope Optum gets buried in the ground. They also denied my mental health meds, I've been on for 30 years. I have had to call the crisis line, because of suicidal thoughts. Optum doesn't give a s...about seniors. I despise UH and Optum. Hope they go bankrupt.

1. Prices of some drugs under AARP Medicare Rx Preferred from UHC (their most comprehensive plan) is higher than price at Amazon Pharmacy with no insurance, much higher than price with Good Rx coupon (specifically Prednisolone Acetate 1% eye drops $44 v. %15).
2. Pricing drugs on their web page is difficult, the results are uncertain - you may see the real price only after placing the order.
3. Their web page is clunky and unresponsive.

I have worked for UnitedHealthcare and I now am a Medicare rep who advises folks to select UHC if it's appropriate, and although I don't have UHC today I had it a year ago. UHC is a very good company. When claims are not paid there is a reason. The reason could be that they screwed up, or the reason could be that the provider or billing person screwed up. It is a complex business run by codes. Following Covid, there is also a slew of new people working in provider offices ... and I can tell you that if some of them need to provide additional documentation it's like it's the end of the world. Like getting a mortgage, the people need what they need to do their job, and if a morrtgage underwriter does not get what he/she needs you are not getting a mortgage, and if a computer does not get appropriate info to pay a claim, your claim will not be paid. I can't tell you how many times I am called in to help process a claim, and the reasons for not processing are usually valid and varied. There are very well run offices that have no problem, and there are providers who pay their employees crap money and they get crap employees. My claims have usually been paid, but I know what the system needs to do the job. There is no broad brush where ANY health insurance company decides they're not paying claims. That is why your state health insurance authorities exist. I've been treated for assorted things and my bills were well covered by UHC. Providers are not always right, and it's the AMA who helped make a mess of our Health Care Delivery system.

My wife was having a major shoulder issue to point she couldn’t raise her arm from a fall. They approved an X-ray and physical therapy. The therapist told she needs an MRI due to a possible rotator cuff tear. United DENIED HER REQUEST TO GET AN MRI. We went ahead and paid out of pocket for the MRI. Guess what she had a 90% tear took them an over a month to approve the surgery. We submitted a claim to get reimbursed for the MRI and they DENIED IT due to we didn’t follow proper protocol. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. You speak to them and all of them tell you a different story. Stay away from United Healthcare a disgrace and pathetic Insurance company.

This company denies claims a year after first paying the provider for a customer when the customer moves from one location to another & having the same member id.
They also do everything they can to keep from providing rewards benefits that are in their plan. Grievance procedure just tells you, we are so sorry, but too bad. I will never deal with United Healthcare again.

I do not have a Provider,I called and got CHINA,,,
I felt bad,but I am 73 and could not Understand what these People were Talking about ????
I spent Two Hours and I do not have a Provider,
nor a List or a Referral !!!!!! But I'm Old and United Healthcare DOESN"T Care at All. This is a sad way to live,

Referrals. My daughter is in college in Gainesville Fl, the dr's, referred from the uhc website won't take the insurance

The motto of UHC Customer Service seems to be "Lets wear them down until they give up".
I have been in contact with them for over a month concerning their billing - which was erroneous. Everytime I believe it is resolved, it is not (which I find out if I make an effort). They repeatedly refuse to pu anything in writing. Total nightmare.

One hand does not know what the other is doing, Always disconnected after call and not allowed to do survey. Constant "Urgent" robocalls that finally tell me after 10 minutes all my prescriptions all filled and no information needed. Tired to complain today which led to transfer after transfer with "Not my job, let me transfer you to someone else who will say the same. Constant junk calls, emails and texts all day long to the point of harassment. Now the drug I do need they keep losing prescription over and over again. Terrible company whose statement is: UnitedHealthcare is dedicated to helping people nationwide live healthier lives by simplifying the health care experience (BS), meeting consumer health(BS) and wellness needs, and sustaining trusted relationships with care providers(BS).
My doctors all seem to hate dealing with this company.

The negative reviews are true. United Health Care will deny needed medical surgeries/procedures even after several appeals. Please do not choose United Health Care if you value your health. The solid 1 star review should be all you need to know.

Did not receive my new U Card at the beginning of the year. I was told I could download the one online. It doesn't work and now it takes 14 days to get a new one that might or might not work. Tried using the OTC online but their selection of products is so small as to be ridiculous. Now I will have to spend my own money because their online system does not work. That's one way to keep me from using my benefits.

They are refusing to approve the refilling of 2 prescriptions that I have been taking for several months for Congestive Heart Failure. I was in the hospital 3 times last year for related issues prior to starting these medications which have helped to improve my overall health. One of them is even on their list of 'approved' medications. They are wanting me to try a 'trial drug' and another prescription that I have already taken before without any affect.

Extensive hold times, dropped calls. Denied claims that should be covered. Doctors that are in network and then when claims are made, UHC says they are out of network. One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. This is becoming the norm in this country.

The most incompetent insurance company in USA. I don’t believe in killing people because UHC rips you off but I understand why now after finding out the CEO’s salary was 10 million a year while they constantly reject claims. They are all liars, con artists. I literally hate anybody who works there.

I would rather die than have United Healthcare coverage. Honestly, United Healthcare would prefer the same. Greedy and disgusting, United Healthcare is a disgrace and only cares about taking people’s hard earned money. What a scam.

United Health Care will NOT let me sign in, nor will the site let me contact them since i have to SIGN in to chat or call. NOR WILL THE SITE LET ME GET THE INFORMATION TO FIX THE SIGN I9N PROBLEM.

What a horrible experience. I called United regarding referrals. They can't tell me what process they are in or they are just too lazy to put in the extra effort. Next, I get a call from Memorial Herman because the UHC referral portal does not have me setup. The is a problem between UHC and Memorial Herman but of course I am the one that can't see my doctors. Memorial Herman calls UHC and gets an answer "what do you think I am going to do about it". I am now on my 4th call. I have been transferred back to the US but did not get the supervisor I asked for. Sad and pathetic. I already wished I could change.

Evil, crooked, sinful company that would sell every last average working American’s soul just to enrich themselves & their equally wicked billionaire friends & shareholders. Despite claiming to be a company that “provides” “healthcare”, they do nothing of the sort, only acting as a scrounging gang of thieves that exploit the poor, sick, disabled, and elderly.

They empty the pockets of already struggling working class parents whose children are sick and suffering. They place liens on the homes of the elderly who cannot pay their villainous shakedowns. They cause further debilitating hardship on unfortunate and disabled Americans who cannot control their disabilities and illnesses.

The #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US is MEDICAL DEBT & UnitedHealthCare is the LARGEST medical insurer (aka medical EXTORTIONISTS) in the country.

They constantly and ruthlessly deny the claims of sick CHILDREN, they throw our elders out of their care homes and into the street, they step on the necks of single mothers and fathers dying of cancer. They hold our crippling debt above us to keep us SUBSERVIENT, ill, poor, and profitable to THEM.

This SICK and SOULLESS company has the blood of millions of Americans on their hands. They are LEECHES upon our society that bring NOTHING of value, only immense pain, suffering, and destitution. They fill the pockets of the UNGODLY and OBSCENELY wealthy, billionaire ruling class, by taking the very little money that hard working, average Americans have.

They drink champagne and fill their bellies above, while the rest of us use what is left of our sick and dying bodies to fight each other for SCRAPS below.

And in order to keep us sick, dying, and poor, and themselves filthy stinking rich, they BRIBE our politicians to make sure our votes do not matter, and to ensure that they will ALWAYS be in control of our health, our lives, our bodies, and our finances.

They get to heartlessly watch us struggle, while they PLAY GOD, deciding who lives and who dies, based on how much money we desperate and struggling Americans can pay.

There are no words that can properly express the amount of suffering this MERCILESS, UNGODLY, PITILESS PARASITE of a company has caused on our country and our people.

They live as KINGS AND QUEENS while we working class Americans of all ages, colors, genders, sexualities, and occupations live as SERFS AND SLAVES to this wretched system of extortion. We average Americans will NEVER be happy, healthy, or free so long as these “healthcare” companies rule our beloved country.

WE CONTINUE TO DROWN IN ILLNESS, PAIN, AND DEBT WHILE THEY FEAST ON THEIR YACHTS ABOVE US!!
