Disappointing Licensing Model Change
I have been using Unraid for some time and have always appreciated the software's flexibility and community support. However, the recent change to a subscription-based licensing model is extremely disappointing. The new pricing structure feels overly aggressive and does not align with the value I perceive from the software.
What made Unraid stand out was its foundation as open-source software and the significant contributions from the community. The community has built and maintained a vast ecosystem of plugins and containers, which are essential to the platform's success. Without this community effort, Unraid would be just another NAS solution.
The decision to shift to a subscription model not only feels unfair but also shows a lack of appreciation for the community's contributions. For many users, including myself, the cost is now prohibitive, and it feels like the company is prioritizing profit over user satisfaction and community engagement.
I urge Unraid to reconsider this pricing model and find a more balanced approach that respects the community's efforts and keeps the software accessible to all users. Until then, I will be exploring other free and open-source alternatives like Proxmox VE or TrueNAS CORE.
