Fake from start to finish!

I've been on this site for 3 months as a paid subscriber. Eventually I worked it out - 95% of the women are using photos from the internet, false identities, fake profiles, and made up locations. Even their ages are made up in an attempt to target lonely men. Many users are from Ghana and other non UK locations.
Basically the whole thing is misleading at best and a complete scam at worst.
Just don't be tempted - its a total waste of your time and energy, it will lead you nowhere.

Scammers

I have never used this website, looked at it, looked at similar, or anything of the like. Happily married. Somehow I am now receiving multiple spam, explicit texts per day, with a link to their website. The messages have no telephone number on them, so can not be blocked. They know my name and the location of where I live.
Clearly my details have been passed on fraudulently which goes against GDPR.

FAKE PROFILES AND ADS. AVOID.

Please do not pay any money to this site. It is full of ads and false profiles. I spent £69 on it for 3mths (on offer) and I might as well have thrown it out the window. I could have given this to charity! Disgusting company that I feel very foolish not to have checked out first. I shaw the reviews only after a week of awful ads, fake individuals emailing, or photos of men sitting on their toilets with nothing on. Glad I can add my warning to the others on this site. AVOID.

Scam

Scam, fake profiles, nobody ever replies, completely dead, and lots of ads, though I payed so its not for free. Fishy, quiet, weird website. I used it 7 years ago, it was okish. Not anymore.

If your serious about a relationship

If your serious about a relationship, then DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
You will not get a refund. You will be approached by the occasional genuine person but most are chasing you to scam from you. When using the site, it spends more time promoting hook-up sites for sex.

AVOID!!

AVOID!!! They misuse decades old dating profiles from other sites without permission.

My friend saw an advert of Urbansocial on her phone and was shock to see an old photo of me as one of their daters. UrbanSocial must've taken my profile from when I was using another online dating site 15 yrs ago!! I was furious and wasn't difficult to find a whole dating profile with my old photo and personal information on it. Someone must be pretending to be me chatting/scamming men on the website.
I've emailed the data protection team, hopefully they have the decency to remove my profile as requested.

Dreadful experience

Dreadful. Many profiles are fake/duplicated pictures and details. It also allows people to use it without paying, start talking and interact with paying members and then be uncontactable themselves. And for people that pay, it is expensive. Steer clear.

This site is a complete scam

This site is a complete scam - it emanates our of west Africa and I got a mail address from the site as you get inundated with requests and usually gmail accounts - I typed them in and quickly got a reply. I built up a rapport with a couple of "women" and no sooner was asked to send money to them. When I asked for a mobile number or a landline number they went silent. One actually called me on google chat and I could swear it was a man trying to put on a husky voice in an African accent - I said that they sounded like a man. After hanging up I got a message from the woman saying that they were unhappy that I said it was a mans voice - I then replied well call me on a mobile phone then - at this point all went quiet so I accused the woman for being a man and told them where to go - I checked the pictures that I got and found out that the pictures were of a model and I found that models pics on facebook as well - I have encountered a few so called women on this site and all asked for money. One even used the same questions on chat as another one as if it was a script - I blocked them all - beware of this site as it is a pure scam

Somewhat challenging

Joining up was quite easy, personal details credit card, and you’re all set.
The site seems to be primarily focused on selling other services.
There are ‘message’, ‘inbox’, ‘liked you’ buttons, which turned out to be an advertising banner :( The actual buttons are much smaller.
Accidentally signed up for 3 months due to page refresh and pop up advertising, (which happens often) and defaulted to that selection. Then it costs more to enable ‘free’ members to be able to reply and or send a message. Not really clear on that, since there are other ‘bolt on’ features also. I’d suggest clearer explanation of the features. I do need to mention that I did not visit the T & C’s page, to be fair.
After many messages I sent, the respondents mostly wanted to take the chat off site immediately, because they are ‘free members’. It does beg the question how they could send that message.
Could be me, but I didn’t receive a single response you’d consider as genuine. Without judging individuals, the consistent grammatical errors across the profiles, and literally, identical word for word responses, became suspicious. It was also odd that minutes after a ‘viewed’ or ‘favourited’ message, the profile it was sent from seems to have been deleted. This happened a few times, and irregular intervals.
You get the picture.
Cancellation was arduous. Could not get a result after many attempts. Called the bank and cancelled the card.
In a weird twist, I tried again only for it to work as expected.
So all in all, I don’t think it’s a scam site, just a little misleading and not easy to navigate. We all have busy lives, and this was a time consuming exercise.
I didn’t suit me, but some people may be better at navigating it.

If I could give Zero stars I would

If I could give Zero stars I would, Urban Social is among the modern group of Dating sites that are interested only in relieving you of as much cash as possible. They have little or no accessible Customer service, you are literally bombarded with ads for lewd dating sites and worse, they are constant, and so vile most of them, the people in the site never reply so you have to question if they are real. The ones that you know are not real send messages requesting private messaging outside of the site! More spam and fraud. Much of the functionality doesn't work, and everything extra costs a fortune. In a word STEER VERY CLEAR Of this and any they are partnered with as many of these secretly add you to other sites without your knowledge, which I thought was actually illegal under Data protection!!!

Money Snatchers - Be AWARE before signing up!

Urban Socials website offers 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and 12 month subscription options. I signed up for 1 month assuming that after one month my subscription would revert back to the free version. It appears not - Urban social works on an automatic renewal system which is not made clear at all when signing up. My subscription should have run out yesterday 2nd Feb but a payment was taken from my account. I called today (3rd) tried to explain my situation, but was told because I had not cancelled the subscription they wouldn’t offer a refund. The lady I spoke to didn’t care about my situation at all and just kept saying ' but you are not eligible’ absolutely atrocious customer care.
