$100 Statement Credit-Not so fast…

I received an offer from US Bank-50 transaction of more than $10 and you get a $100 statement credit-Call to the number listed to find out when the statement credit will be issued-Representative did not know anything about the offer and of course, no statement credit. I can not believe US Bank resorts to these scams

Screwed Me Twice! Closing it!

I am closing my account on Monday! This is the second time this bank screwed me with my money. First time happened about 4 years ago. I had an auto pay scheduled on due date every month. Well, they said i went online and paid it manually again. Seriously? Why would i do that like I'm an idiot? So my checking account was overdrawn after they collected second payment for the same amount! My bank charged me OD fees. I stopped using this card since and just started using again last year due to my skypass miles. On October 14, 2025, I paid the whole balance it was a big amount for my flooring protect. I kept wondering why my bank account was still not deducted. I waited 3 days because they always say payment could be processed 1-3 days. Wow, i opened the app and they charged me a returned fee coz supposedly my checking account is closed! I have an auto pay scheduled on due date but I made the full payment. Talked to customer service and they insisted my checking account is closed. I do not recommend this bank!

Incompetent and unhelpful!

An employee of US Bank in Mankato Mn. made an error on a pay on death account that resulted in having to go through probate. Even though the employee admitted making the mistake, the bank was of no help at all in resolving the matter. Which is costing the heirs thousands of dollars. Will never do business with them again!

If I could leave a 0 review I would

If I could leave a 0 review I would. They closed my account because I used it to much, payments up to date, it takes over an hour to talk to anyone when you call them. then when I finally got a hold of someone they said sorry, I can't re-open your account. its been used to much, sounds fradualant! Seriously? I use your card, make my payments and you close it because I use it?

Useless, useless, useless

Too bad i can’t give zero — or negative —stars!

These monkeys cashed a Canadian check from a law firm trust account. Bullet proof. They even gave me full and immediate access to the funds, which was appropriate. I should have cashed out and turned my back. But no. I assumed this was a professional business. Dugh!!!

I started using my other bank funds on critical projects, holding this in reserve. Yikes.

I decided to link my accounts so i could easily pass money back and forth. I figured these guys had been fully awake and sentient for the past two decades. They probably used plaid to link accounts, which was 100% secure and took a few minutes. Not for U.S. bank, which relies upon the stone-age technique of adding tiny deposits to external banks over a 3-day period. It’s up to us to log in, write down the amounts, and verify them in the U.S. bank account. Really efficient, and not aggravating at all! Why did we ever give up the only express after all?

Four days after accepting the $14k deposit, they revoked the funds and added a tiny remark that they would be on hold for ten days. No phone call. No email. Just all of my money gone.

Two days later, us bank returned the original check to my home address (”look for it in 7-10 business days”). They said the check had flunked inspection in spite of it being backed by a trust account.

Then they nicked me $36 for being overdrawn, among my many other offenses.

The capper: they literally advised me to “re-cash it and see what happens”.

UPDATE

Hard to believe that this could be any worse, right? It turns out that the idiot clerk at U.S. Bank deposited the check in the WRONG CURRENCY. That's why it was rejected. There was no reason to put it on hold. It was never going to go through as USD. U.S. Bank could have remedied this in two minutes and fixed the problem for me. But no. Better to return the check to me (haven't seen it!) and wash their hands as if they were following some sort of policy.

The check was written by a Canadian Bank. The default currency is CAD. If U.S. Bank doesn't know that, how can you trust them to manage your finances?

Immoral Gucks

I was the victim of credit card fraud and disputed $150 worth of charges. They retaliated by closing my personal checking account, all three of my credit cards, and even my business checking account. My business makes 7 figures annually and they just spit me out without a second thought. And I'm still out the $150.

Atrocious customer "service"

I just got off the phone with customer "service." The woman I talked with was the most rude, unhelpful, condescending representative I have ever spoken to. I asked who else I could talk with, and she said that nobody could help me. ???

DO NOT GET THIS CARD/ KEEP YOUR WISELY The website does not work and customer service is horrible. I could barely understand the representative then she only repeated cardholder policy then hung up in my face. She also gave me the wrong phone number to call a whole other entity, no transfer. SHAME on my company for linking to this shoddy banking system.

I was preapproved for an auto loan by US Bank and found a vehicle. The dealership prepared the paperwork to give to US Bank and I did. The staff was willing to take my down payment but would not give me the check to purchase the vehicle they preapproved me for!!!!!! They wouldn't even look at the paperwork!!!! I went to the dealership and just used THEIR financing instead. I'M NOW LOOKIN FOR A NEW BANK!!!!

This has to be the worst bank

This has to be the worst bank. I paid off my credit card through a loan service and they overpaid. US Bank owes me $86 for the overage and told me that I needed to verify in order to get the check sent out. They transferred me to a line that rang for 45 minutes and no one picked up. I also paid off my mortgage. I didn't get an email of payoff or any communication. I had to call to find out that they owed me another $79 dollars and they will be mailing me a check for that. Their customer service is sub par. They have long wait times on the phone and most of the people you speak with do not actually want to help you, they want to transfer you. Overall for both credit card and mortgage this bank comes up very short. Use someone else and be glad you did.

Shame on US Bank for False Advertising

US Bank has a running issue with misleading advertising for their US Bank Go Visa Credit Card offer. The offer states: Just spend $1,000 in Net Purchases in the first 90 days and receive $200 (or 20,000 points). When I reached 21,500 points, I was only allowed to redeem $150 as a statement credit. Technically, I should be able to redeem $215. The representative mentioned they changed the rules (after I signed up) and that redemptions could only be made in increments of 3.333. The representative advised me to use a calculator. Is there a lawyer available to address this issue? She stated that the full amount of $200 is applicable only if I open or already have a US Bank checking or savings account. However, where is that indicated? I searched thoroughly and only found this in the fine print: Redeem points toward a deposit to an eligible U.S. Bank account, merchandise, gift cards, travel, and more. In that case, I would like a $215 gift card. Unfortunately, the representative was unable to fulfill this request as well. This bank's conduct is unacceptable. It's unheard of to encounter such a lack of professionalism from a financial institution that's supposed to be well-regarded. Shame on US Bank.

Poor customer service

After going through several agents that were very invasive in asking for my personal information (over the top), while my account was restricted for some strange unknown reason. They would not validate the reason and kept transferring me to another agent that again ask the same very invasive questions. I was transferred 4+ times and still no answers. I decided to no longer bank with US BANK because their customer service is not good at all in my opinion. They make it very hard for their customers to do business with them.

I was happy when I first started my checking account with US Bank. Now I regret it! I am constantly being overdrawn because they do not let you see pending transactions in the background. This bank does not show transactions done over the weekend until Monday, as long as it is not a holiday. Overdraft protection is great until they decide too bad for you.
At my old bank I never had to worry about keeping tract myself. It was always up to date on there site/app.

Inconsistency

//update: USBank issued a remediation refund for this fee a few weeks ago - thanks USBank!

I received a letter from USBank back in March advising me to do one of 3 things so my business account does not get assessed an inactivity fee. I performed one of the 3 tasks (sign on to my account on the app or computer) but the account was still assessed an inactivity fee in May. I called Customer Support and received confirmation that I conducted one of the 3 actions and would reverse the charge after my account is unlocked in a few days. I didn't see any changes after a week and called Support back. The analyst advised me these fees are not reversible and the manager I spoke to confirmed it as well. She even told me that she couldn't find a record of my online activity as they're only allowed to view 3 months' worth of activity. Why am I getting inconsistent answers?

My only complaint with usbank is that

My only complaint with usbank is that, for example this month they showed I had a balance of 135 including my pending transactions, the only thing that changed after two days was that I transferred 30 to my Venmo account and suddenly today ALL my daily balance information has been completely changed and I have a balance of 30 showing! This happens every single month!! I took pictures to prove it and I am going to talk to them in person about this, I am tired of what feels like “bait and switch “ game!!

Worst experience ever with a bank

Everyone Ive dealt with at this bank is very condescending. It's impossible to reach anyone, you have to request an appointment for them to call you. I've had this account for 2-1/2 months and twice been charged a maintenance fee that is supposed to be waived. Since opening this account I've been bombarded with marketing emails, texts, and notifications that although I keep trying to opt-out of, I keep receiving them. Their app is extremely difficult to use because it's flooded with self-advertising masquerading as services. As soon as they give me my $12 back, I'll be closing this account.
