Faulty car, removed review, and a dealership that fought a refund I was legally owed
I’m reposting this review because Vertu Vauxhall Northampton had my original one removed. I won’t accept that. Removing a factual review does not change what happened, it just confirms the pattern of behaviour.
The facts are simple. I purchased a DS 3 Crossback E-Tense. The car failed to start on collection day. When it was eventually delivered, mould had appeared inside within days, alongside further performance issues.
I formally rejected the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The statutory 14-day refund deadline passed with no payment. The dealership disputed the rejection, made only a partial payment after court proceedings had already been issued, and the matter was resolved through a small claims settlement.
Removing my review is dishonest. Potential customers deserve to know what happened here. The car was faulty. The post-sale process was slow, resistant, and required legal action to recover money I was already entitled to.
I have the court claim documentation to back every word of this up.

Visit was Sat 13th June. Showroom was clean and airy and staff friendly. We dealt with a guy called Shayne. He searched for the car we wanted and nothing was too much trouble. We decided on a car and went through details that were explained fully and clearly and agreed we would collect the vehicle the following week. The car was presented well and on the test drive Shayne went through the features on the car. Back at the showroom we completed paperwork ready for us to drive away. We had to take our 3yr old grandson with us unexpectedly and Shayne was really lovely with him. All in all a great experience.

Absolutely awful experience trying to buy an Astra GTC VXR from Northampton namely EDWARD STEVENS the used car SALES MANAGER, talks down to customers when deciding to put a deposit on this car was told to “TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT I HAVE 2 OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO WANT THIS CAR” and got worse when the price dropped by £685 overnight to which they flatly refused to honour the price drop claiming it wasn’t there fault.
Hounded all day to begin with promised the car would be ready for Saturday 30th May 2026 and must be gone then due to it being there end of month, yet wasn’t even MOTd until 1st June, to then be told I had to wait when deciding which finance company is best for me and comparing APR rates… then told conflicting things yesterday and despite telling EDWARD STEVENS I was at work and couldn’t answer phone calls only via email, had a email from him after they had closed to tell me because I hadn’t been able to speak over the phone I WASENT ALLOWED to buy the car and EDWARD STEVENS had cancelled my order and was refunding my deposit.
Disgusting attitude and behaviour from a sales manager!!
Would definitely NOT reccomend.

I purchased a vehicle in February 2026. This went smoothly and the salesman Shayne Robotham was very good and assured that the car would be checked before I bought it. Within 2 weeks the drivers seat failed as the adjuster handle had broken away from the main seat. I am afraid that having raised the complaint immediately I was passed from Shayne to Edward Stephens, a Manager. I am still chasing resolution some 4 months later. I had to chase them repeatedly and was left feeling that, as they had my money I was not a priority. The seat had clearly been patched as the stitching had come away and should have been picked up in their checks before they sold me the vehicle. I am really Dissapointed as I don't expect this level of service from a main dealer. I am now considering raising a complaint to the Motor Ombudsman if the complaint isn't resolved soon.

I had an excellent experience from start to finish.
Although the team were clearly very busy, I was kept reassured throughout and the process felt smooth and stress-free.
I am absolutely delighted with my new car-I truly love it. The level of service I received was exceptional, and Kostas in particular was professional, supportive, and a pleasure to deal with. Nothing felt too much trouble, and I telt valued as a customer throughout the entire journey.
I would also like to recognize the colleague who assisted during the final stages. She took the time to explain how the hybrid system works and provided very helpful information. Although I didn't catch her name, her professionalism and friendly approach made a real difference.
Overall, this was a seamless and positive experience, and I would not hesitate to return in the future. I will certainly be recommending them to tamily and friends.

Well this will be a strange review but i feel its worth mentioning.
My wife was looking for an EV car (was new to it) and the sales person at the dealership was really helpful and found her a good car, low miles, good brand within her price range.
So my wife went forward and put a deposit down to see the car (which at the time was in reading i believe) , was really impressed with how helpful they were.
Later that day, looking over the spec, the car was not going to be ideal due to not having fast charging capability. Hindering her a little in terms of long trips. Easy mistake to make and so that afternoon we tried to call and they were closed. We rang HQ and let them know we needed to cancel and also sent over emails (was not going to be open until the monday).
The reason for a 5 star review is that a deposit was made, and agreement in place and whilst we did make effort to let the know as soon as possible, it could have ended up with us just loosing out on the deposit. Understandable considering it was not their error.
In the end, they did not, they emailed back on the Monday, happy to cancel and our deposit was refunded within 2 days. No arguments etc.
This level of customer service and ethics are not always found in 2026 and its why i have took the time to do a review and share this experience with all. Just through that process of customer service i would recommend this dealer and would use them in the future. It says a lot about how they operate and i am sure that would then echo into all aspects they take on.
Also a quick caveat, we did move fast, we did that so they would not have expense and hopefully get a refund. If i had left it 2-3 days then i would expect to loose out 100% and so i think its only fair to say this in case others feel that would be simple. Yes, i this case it should be, but not if i had left it too long.
Great work Vertu Northampton, well done. I will be sure to let others know how you dealt with things so well.

After a smooth purchase of a used 2022 Citreon C3 Aircross PureTech 1.2 Shine Plus with the salesman being so helpful, I have experienced a less favourable and extremely stressful after sales experience at Vertu Northampton Vauxhall.
The car I purchased (WK22 WZD) went into limp mode just over three months of purchasing the car. Then less than a month later the warning lights came on (spanner and oil light flashing). Both times the diagnostics showed nothing wrong. As there were two separate faults with the warning system, I lost all confidence in the car and exercised my right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to receive a refund. This has been refused and my complaint to head office closed. I now drive a car where I feel I cannot trust the warning system. Only time will tell if another fault occurs.
Would you want to keep a car where the warning lights and going into limp mode are activated for no reason at all and are meaningless?
NOTE - the automated response to this review below is untrue. They do not respond when you email them as requested!
UPDATE: The same warning light happened again. This time they agreed to give me a full refund... at last! The car is now back on the market.

I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received from Vertu Vauxhall Northampton.
I paid £43.20 for a Battery State of Health check, but I was not provided with any result after my appointment and had to chase multiple times. On my first call, I spent around 15 minutes on hold while the staff member appeared to be searching for information, before being told the report would be emailed within 24 hours.
After receiving nothing, I called again and was then told the report would come from Vauxhall within a week, which contradicted the earlier information.
Following several unanswered calls and continued pressure from my side, I eventually received an SOH document via email from a Senior Service Advisor. What is concerning is that this arrived within minutes once I pushed further, despite previously being told it would take up to a week.
This raises serious concerns about the timing and reliability of the report, and whether the check was actually completed at the time of my visit. The overall experience felt disorganised, with poor communication and inconsistent information throughout.
I paid for a service and had to chase repeatedly just to receive basic results. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this garage.
