Do not ever book with this airline!
Do not ever book with this airline!
They moved our flight several times, changing our 14hour layover to a 2 day delay.
One flight change was done less than 8 hours of our trip.
We missed a connecting flight, that they could not do anything about because the tickets were not purchased with them.
But they did not provide support for the 2 day delay.
They have changed our tickets to impossible times for a long haul flight! They booked our connecting flight the same day as our flight from HCM - LHR.
And the immigration queue was 4 hours long. No real order and support. Once officers started arriving to open more gates, all they did was leave their cubicle to shout at people to maintain a straight line despite not having the proper space.
Online customer service nonexistent.
Seats uncomfortable and dirty.
Food disgusting.
But the aircraft crew were very helpful.
Worst Business Class experience & terrible transfers
Worst Business Class experience I’ve ever had.
I booked this flight because it was the cheapest Business Class fare available for my travel dates — a decision I quickly regretted.
The low price was clearly reflective of the product. The Business Class seat was broken and would not recline, making rest impossible. Cabin service was poor and inattentive, and the food was at best mediocre, falling well short of what is expected in Business Class.
To make matters worse, flight transfers through both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were unnecessarily stressful and poorly managed. Anyone considering this airline should read online reviews about transfers at these airports to understand the issues firsthand.
Overall, this was a substandard Business Class experience from start to finish. I would strongly advise avoiding Vietnam Airlines, particularly their Business Class product.
Do not fly them
Do not fly them. They separated our party (even though we purchased business class and chose seats). They downgraded our ticket type and did not automatically refund the price difference. We needed to intervene 3 times to get the refund. They also damaged 2 of our bags (zipper and wheel). I will not fly them again.
Worst airline ever! Avoid at all costs
Worst airline I have ever travelled on, even worse than Ryanair.
No help with disabilities.
First leg of the flights was changed 3 times then delayed. Second flight and hour late and no explanation or apology. Missed connections
Aircraft was very basic and customers went to sit in allocated to seat to find there was no seat!
Entertainment was awful.
Food was probably the same standard as prison food. We were served chicken porridge for breakfast which resembled congealed slop. They run out of bottled water too so I basically didn’t eat or drink for 13hrs.
Never again!
Stay away from Vietnam Airline.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I have received regarding my cancelled flight from Copenhagen (CPH) to Bangkok (BKK) 10/1/2026 to 30/1/2026.
I purchased flight tickets for this route through Kiwi.com. On 13 November, I received an email stating that my flight had been cancelled, with no explanation or reason provided. Since this cancellation was initiated by the airline, I immediately contacted Kiwi.com on 16 November to request a refund. The e-mail state that I will get my refund in 14 days.
Until today, I have not received any refund.
I have contacted Kiwi.com several times to follow up on the status. Kiwi.com has informed me via email that they are still waiting for the refund from Vietnam Airlines, and that they cannot process my refund until the airline releases the funds. This means the delay is entirely dependent on Vietnam Airlines.
This situation has caused significant inconvenience and frustration. Cancelling a flight without explanation and then failing to process a refund in a timely manner is unacceptable, unprofessional, and reflects very poorly on your customer service standards.
I expect Vietnam Airlines to take responsibility for this cancellation and process the refund without further delay. I would also appreciate a clear explanation for the cancellation and the prolonged refund process.
Very bad
Very bad, delay more than 10 hour, without hotel... bad experience... staff yelling to passengger VN306 to narita today 22 des 2025, the manager just smilling...
Worst experience roundd trip
It would be appropriate to give- (minus)5 star in review.
Worst
Ground and Airport staff treat passengers as an animal
The air hostess doesnt even give an eye contact and smile...there is no pleasure in journey as if they are serving us for the money we paid..very low at hospitality
Change of gate at last mine. Boarding time is 3.30 change of gate by 3.25. We are group of 13 pax with 2 sick people and kids age ranging from 2yrs old to 12 yrs old...the gate Assigned and change of gate is one end to other end
Gate staff is so irresponsible and no respect at all ..iust scream like go to 15 go 15 and chit chatting on the phone
And as usual the other gate staffs saya yes we know sorry sorry
Pathetic round trip experience 1st time flying from Sgp to Japan with connecting flight at Ho chi minh will never ever book vietnam airlines not sure it is a premier airline and doesnt deserve to be a 4 star alliance
Worst business class on planet earth
I am angry and upset and disappointed. I feel like I have been completely scammed. This experience and flight was NOT business class. Every member of staff I encountered was rude - no smiles, no eye contact, I mean, even saying hello to the stewardess when bordering the plane was ignored with not so much as a welcome aboard. Very strange. The ground staff taking the passports were rude and there was no ‘VIP’ feeling at all. The food was abysmal - not even economy levels on other flights! Hence, I asked for the vegetarian option hoping for some cheese or something - nothing, no vegetarian food option at all so I just had to ask for the fruit from the plate; the fruit was rotten, ultra soft and past its best - Maybe ok for a smoothie but not to eat! WiFi didn’t work lady said it was for the entertainment but the entertainment didn’t work on my devices (both new iPhone and MacBook)
Lumbar support on chairs didn’t work - I need that for my bad back. Chairs were filthy and falling apart the man’s chair in front was so faulty that it allowed him to put the seat back so it was touching my legs - for this reason I had to be moved, why not him? But where I was move to, that chair was faulty also. The plane and chairs and cushions were completely worn out and not fit for purpose.
No smile no hello from any ground staff - in fact not even any eye contact at any stage during the entire experience. No entertainment on board no edible food. Seats less comfortable than economy. Awful experienced and I felt completely conned.
Vienam Airlines should have a minus star rating
There should be a minus star rating. I had a flight from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh, with a 2-hour layover, to connect with a flight on Jetstar to Melbourne. When I went to check in, I was told that I must have a visa for Vietnam; otherwise, I could not board the flight. I told them I was in transit, Hong Kong check-in staff insisted that I purchase an emergency visa; otherwise, I could not board the plane. I can I use my credit card to pay for it, they said no, it must be cash $250 USD or equivalent in HKD. The supervisor asked for my email so that it could be sent. I paid him the cash, he put it in a plastic bag, and slid it into a stack of others. I received an email showing I paid, which was in Vietnamese. I was expecting that when I boarded the plane for they to ask me, but no one did. On the flight, I asked the purser if this was right, as I was only in transit. She said No, I did not need one and took down some details. I was ushered to the transfer desk and met by Jetstar with a boarding pass. When I told him and the staff from Vietnam Airlines what had happened, they said it was highly irregular, and I had to deal with the Hong Kong staff who checked me; they did not want to help me, even though it was the same company. The plane was late, and I was told to go through immigration, which took a very long time, so in fact I missed my connecting flight, same old story. I was not given the right information on where to go to board the flight. So hence I missed my flight to Melbourne, and the guy from Jetstar came and took away my boarding pass, as I had turned out the visa they sold me was for Hanoi, and with no proper visa and boarding pass, I could not leave that area of the airport, I must admit the lady at the Vietnam Airlines tried to help me but was tod it was my bad luck. Jetstar said it was a non-refundable ticket and walked away. The lady at the counter said the only way was to buy another ticket with VietJetAir, which I did for over $700. The only problem I could not leave that area because I had no boarding pass, and the airline was not open until 6.00 a.m. I spent the night on a hard bench. I could not buy any food or drinks. After spending all night, at 6.15 I was able to get my boarding pass and go to the transit lounge and catch the flight home,
To add more insult, my bank said that because it was a cash payment, they could not treat it like a scam, and the travel insurance said it was a visa issue and not covered. My trip home to Australia cost me another $1000.
I finally got through to Vietnam Airlines and sent several emails with all the documentation and receipts. They responded that if my baggage was not checked through, I'd need a visa and need to collect it and recheck it in, but my luggage was booked to go directly to Melbourne, and I was dealing with the Hong Kong section of Vietnam Airlines, so that is probably how they make a bit of extra cash on the side. Basically, no one at Vietnam Airlines was willing to help except the purser on the flight and the lady at Ho Chi Minh. I will never fly with this airline, as well as the Asian part of JetStar. Be careful of this Airline, they put money first, not customers
I took a return flight from Singapore…
I took a return flight from Singapore to Ho chin Minh(HCM) and then to Hanoi. Both flight has around 2+ hrs transit at HCM and I didn't realise you have to transfer from another terminal to the other on a bus and you will still need to check in check out your luggage again. You would think that 2hrs transit helps to make your journey easy but not with Vietnamese airline because you need at least 3-4hrs to take your luggage and check in again to another terminal and the best part all my flights were delayed. The signage to another terminal is not so obvious too. This is like the worst nightmare you can imagine especially when you have an elderly and special kid traveling with you.
The service customer took 1 week to reply to my email and they can't do anything to help anyway. At least some of their airport staff are helpful but please dont ask the counter for transportation. They make you think that it's far and even gave you wrong directions.
I guess it's a long way for for Vietnamese airlines to go or maybe can learn from Singapore or even Emirates airline. They are almost always on time and make travelling smooth and easy.
I would give 0 star if I could.
I would give 0 star if I could.
In June of this year, my original flight was cancelled 2 hours after it was meant to take off.
We were told we could claim compensation, and in the past 6 months, I have sent several emails to the relevant address, with all the required information. ALL my emails have been left unanswered. I called the service and was told to simply wait, as the agent was unable (or unwilling?) to check the emails I had sent. Clearly, they are doing everything they can for you to give up on your claim. A complete scam.
Great service for a reasonable price
Whenever flying to and from Vietnam, I always use Vietnam Airlines, as they generally offer better service and at a lower price than the competition. I’ve had no issues. I also took a flight from HCMC to Sydney earlier this year too and that went like clockwork. I’m really surprised to see the generally lower reviews here, as on one particular FB group where I’m active, they get praised really highly, when normally many airlines are frequently slated. So I guess I’ll keep on flying Vietnam Airlines until one day I’ll have a bad experience. I hope that day never comes!
Medical supply bag
I have many flights. International and domestic booked. I am disabled and need a medical supply bag with catheters and wipes. These are prescribed and a necessity. On every flight I have ever taken they are added to my baggage with a medical waiver for the extra weight. However this airline believes they are part of your baggage allowance. Not an extra, penalising me as a disabled person.
This is the only airline I have ever known not to add it to my baggage allowance. The wheelchair is free and extra to my allowance but not my catheters !! Anyone have any advice ?
Bad experience with online customer support.
Bad experience with online customer support.
Hanoi - CopenhagenInternational
I bought a ticket for a date in June but it was issued on a date in July. When I emailed for support, it was almost 2 weeks ago and there was still no clear support for my case. I emailed many times but there was no clear response. They told me to wait, which was really disappointing because this was the first time I booked a ticket on the airline's website. Other airlines I booked from always supported me promptly and quickly no matter what the problem was. Why did it take almost 2 weeks and still not have a specific answer for their customers? I really don't understand. Hopefully the airline will reconsider their online customer support via email to be more effective.
Avoid if you can!
This airline is NEVER on time during domestic flights. They don't give proper information at their gates, they never board the times written on your boarding card and their apology comes days after your arrival. The seats are tight (I'm 155cm and my knees almost hits the seat infront of me), I have no positive impression about this airline at all. Try your luck with VietJet, it can be worse but it can may also be better.
hey its not as bad as you say
hey its not as bad as you say. The people on the airline are friendly at least. Also, its much cheaper than flying with Australian or Japanese ones, for the flights I took it almost always was the cheapest option. Also, a track record of no accidents, thats a good sign for me. Somewhat lessens my fears at least.
The worst airline in Vietnam and probably ASEAN
Coming from a Vietnamese living in the US flying terrible economy classes there before, this is a freaking terrible and expensive airline. The problem is it's the national airline (which is already embarrassing for VN itself), so it has exclusive route and dominate in Vietnam. Flying between HCM and Hanoi (the most common route), either this or Vietjet (which is the budget airlines). My record last year when I flew 19 trips, they are late on 17. The tipping points for me is when they reschedule the flight by 1 hour (but actually will be 2 because of additional delay at the airport as well), then you cannot change the ticket online, only by calling their call center which is 80% of the time I have to call twice or three times because all their agents are busy - despite the fact I'm a Gold member. And if you need to change the ticket, it's 75$ fee for a ~85$ ticket. That's on top of the terrible and inefficient airport service for check-in, onboarding and service during the flight. In general, it's disgusting to have to use them because they are the only choice for business traveler.
Really frustrated
Really frustrated - booked premium economy to be able to work (no business available) - been downgraded and given 2 hours notice to reply to an email sent at 4am UK time - compensation does not reflect the real difference in price to economy - you are causing stress on what is supposed to be an exciting day the day before we fly - I hope you respond appropriately to my husbands email!! This really isn’t ok
This is the worst airline I’ve ever…
This is the worst airline I’ve ever flown with. I booked premium economy for myself and my two children to go to Australia. We booked a year in advance. I booked premium economy because I wanted the journey to be slightly more comfortable for everyone.
However, on arriving into Vietnam we were told that there was no premium economy on our flight to Sydney because the plane had been changed. I couldn’t believe it. We were not told why and were initially offered a row of seats to ourselves or a flight the next day. However, upon trying to take one of these options we were told that in fact they weren’t available anymore… and that our only option was to accept an economy seat. We were told we would be given 120USD in compensation and refunded the price difference in the ticket. However, this did not happen and I still have no refund, several months on. Every email I send it just passed around to different departments. No one is prepared to do the right thing. I spoke to Vietnam Airlines staff in person on the flight home from Australia and again was just given excuses like ‘we can’t issue refunds here’. Even though I had booked the tickets direct with the airline originally. Truly shocking - they have literally stolen money and failed to deliver the contract of service I’d booked. I would not recommend this airline to anyone.
