he Vietnam Airlines international flights from Australia (Sydney to Frankfurt and return) receives an above average 3.5 out of 5 star from me for the on-board flight experience which is OK for what is still a budget airline however if you think that you may need to possibly make changes to your booking then I have to really insist (in order to keep your sanity) that you proceed with another airline. I had made numerous, yes numerous, frustrating (for me) calls and emails to change flight details mostly without success. Put simply Vietnam Airlines will no make any changes on the phone without an email whereby they do no respond back to you on then you have to get on the phone again (waiting for up to 90 minutes) and start the process over and over again. I even approached the customer service counter at Ho Chi Minh airport for a simple change which took approximately 30 minutes.

honestly, my experience was just okays with them.
international flight is good and provides a lot of amenities along with water bottle, cushion, blanket, earphones, good legroom space, food, etc.
my only point of concern and dissatisfaction is that they don't mention what is the ingredient in their Vegetarian and Non-Veg meal.
For Hindu Meal, they give non-veg in this which is uncertain for sure.
Also, there was a delay in flight too which can be avoided for future and for their short and domestic flights in Vietnam, they don't provide meals in that even if I had booked online already which I felt was not fair at all.
Also, once I landed back to IGI airport, Delhi, my luggage was delayed for almost an hour which was also very disappointing as I had to rush to the office next early morning and my whole schedule got delayed and hampered.
Rest, overall experience with them was just okay and not so good but it can be better with times if they just improvise internally a lot.
Great staff but worst customer service and loyalty program
Vietnam airlines staff are most of the time kind and cheerful, however I have several times crossed staff that were really angry/over-stressed onboard, creating a poor atmosphere. I believe they must be under high pressure from a very poor management. Customer service is the worst I ever dealt with, not giving answer for months, then answering a detailed email about poor experiences with an AI-generated text, which is simply unacceptable. Then pretending to escalate to management and never sending any answer either. Their lotusmiles membership is the worst and slowest of all airlines I used before, by flying very intensively for 2 years (around 50 flights) I barely accumulated 120,000 miles only worth one return trip Vietnam-Europe, this is simply ridiculous. This would be worth plenty more with other loyalty programs.

Their services improved significantly recently. Quality of food, cabin crew, cleanliness of aircraft and its Lotusmiles loyalty program. Well done!

Booked a business class with Vietnam…
Booked a business class with Vietnam Airlines. However due to visa issue, I have to change flight dates. I had submitted multiple requests online via the airline website, but no one reply. I eventually filed for a refund, but no one reply either.

My biggest disappointment with Vietnam Airline. An hour delayed to Vinh. Baggage information not clear. Probaly, Vietnam language to English.

Bad customer service- Kuala Lumpur
I must express my deep disappointment with Vietnam Airlines' customer service, particularly at the Kuala Lumpur airport counters manned by Malay girls. Their demeanor was incredibly mean, lacking the basic courtesy and professionalism expected in the service industry. It's evident they need comprehensive training in customer service etiquette before assuming such roles. Despite this, I must acknowledge the commendable service provided by the cabin crew during my flight. Overall, while the airline's service was satisfactory in the air, the ground experience left much to be desired.

The quality is too bad
Delay, delay and cancel but no support to customers. Delay 2-3 days never seen before. The local office did not handle anything when you buy ticket online. International transit only in 1 hour but they took no action at all for support customers. Very bad

Not worthwhile … mess service.. very disappointing.. and it’s business class
Sorry to say but Vietnam Airlines is defintly the last what I would use when I have other options. We flew business class with two childs.. the service was fast that they can use the free business seats to sleep and snore us away. The service during flight was not really available because they must use the time to talk together.. also we had kids and they have nothing prepared to entertain them… in other airlines is standard in Economy that kids get some small tools to play .. here is nothing and we have been paid 3times more than an eco seat.. shame on Vietnam Airlines.. its a mess that they buy for there jobs or with curroption… u can see the result.. Vietnam and their basics are still not arrived in international standards

Terrible website, terrible customer service
Just spent 40 minutes in Ho Chi Minh transfer with Vietnam airlines explaining to me how paying for an upgrade to business class doesn’t mean you have a business class ticket, and that really it is my fault that their website misled me into thinking upgrade to business class includes lounge access. Just paid for access to a different lounge. Don’t expect an understanding of customer service. Don’t expect a good experience that is focused on customer. Poor thought for customer can ruin a good experience of Vietnam.

Excellent in flight service
Before our flights the customer services provided were a disappointment and we had numerous changes to our flights. However, once our trip started, Paris CDG to Hanoi, we received excellent inflight services. The leg room in economy was fine, the food provided was excellent as was in flight entertainment. Constant supply of refreshments were offered during a return flight home from Ho Chi Minh to Paris. We received the same excellent service during our trip. We also had three short internal flights, bottle water and towels were provided even on these, just over 1hr flights. Very impressed

Excellent Airlines
I have flown with Vietnam Airlines on numerous occasions, long haul as well as internal flights in Vietnam and would definitely recommend. The long haul flights have a great entertainment choice, unlike other airlines, and what was important for me as a vegetarian was food. It was an easy process to book special meal through their website and all the meals tasted nice. There was one flight slightly disappointing, but it must've been due to staff, when we were served dinner and then breakfast, during a 12hr flight, nothing in between. Staff were nowhere to be seen for most of the flight so people had to go to the kitchen looking for some snacks and drinks. But this was just a once off, other 12hr flights provided plenty of food and anytime I opened my eyes there were walking by with a trolley. Staff, especially on the short flights in Vietnam vere extremely professional and polite. Highly recommended, I will be booking flights with Vietnam Airlines again

My luggage was damaged beyond usable…
My luggage was damaged beyond usable condition. After all the fuss, I got the claim report and I asked how to proceed with the claim. The staff only said I can do it by myself without much explanation. No matter how I search in google or by email, there was no further resolution as days passed by. It been 28 days since the incident happened. I suggest to all re-consider again when you are looking at their airline. Their insurance may not be as effective due to their service level.

We decided to fly the National carrier Vietnam Airlines business class from Hanoi to Bangkok to connect with our business class Turkish Airlines flight home to the UK.
Unfortunately we didn’t check the baggage allowance and as they only allow one piece of luggage in business class and we got severely stung over £150 to check our other bag. Stupidly we had assumed this business class would be the same allowance as other business class airlines
So be warned this airline takes you by surprise…. read your ticket carefully!
But it doesn’t end there as their lounge at Hanoi airport is poorly stocked too ….no coffee or black tea available, no usb charging and a the lounge itself feels in need of updating.
Given future travel choices I would strive to avoid this airline in future and will certainly not be recommending it to anyone
