Beyond bad

Beyond bad. Terrible customer support, no real service being provided, buggy UI, no market to sell the wine, unable to withdraw funds and stuck with fees. Terrible mistake to have invested into this to begin with.

Hello Pedro,
We’re sorry to hear that your experience has not met your expectations. Providing quality service and a seamless investment experience is our priority.
Our team is always available to assist with any support issues you may be facing, and we’d love the opportunity to help resolve any bugs you’ve encountered.
Each customer who lists their wines for sale lists those wines to markets outside of the Vinovest ecosystem. Unlike more traditional assets the wine market can take longer for sales to complete.
We appreciate your feedback. Our team is happy to assist with withdrawing your funds and providing and update on your account, please reach out at any time.

Horrible Investment

This seems like a good investment on the surface but it’s horrible. They over value your portfolio to charge more in fees. Additionally, liquidity is near impossible at market value from my experience. In the event that you decide to have them shipped to you this will cost a lot with taxes etc. There are far better investments out there. They will hear more about the excessive valuation of their portfolios to charge more very soon.

Hi Shea,
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear your experience has not met your expectations. Transparency is a key part of our process. Our valuation process is based on market data from third-party sources to ensure fair and accurate pricing. Fees are calculated based on these valuations, but we never inflate prices to charge higher fees. Additionally, while fine wine and whiskey are long-term investments with a less liquid market compared to stocks, we do offer options for selling, and we’re continually working to improve liquidity.
Thank you again.

That is a total SCAM!

That is a total SCAM!
I invested 2k USD in wine ~ 1.5 years ago. After one year, I decided to list the wines on the secondary market to withdraw the money. The best offer so far was half the price. Well, thank you, but no.
Then I asked if wine could be shipped to me (as advertised on their page). However, as they are in the UK (I'm not sure if there is even physical wine somewhere) and I am in the EU, they can't ship anything to me.
The worst is that they are asking "maintenance" fee every month and beside I've locked my funds in their "platform", I have to invest more.
When I left a similar review on Google, the owner replied that this was a mistake and that they could ship wine. Then, I contacted support, who asked me to remove the review. I politely responded that I'd change or remove the review when the issue was resolved. Since then, I haven't received a response from support.

Hello Daniel,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand your frustration and regret that your experience has not met your expectations so far.
Our team is actively working on a solution for your situation. Selling wine on the secondary market can take time as we aim to secure offers that reflect fair market value. While this process can sometimes feel lengthy, it is designed to maximize potential returns for our clients.
Regarding shipping, we apologize for any confusion. Vinovest can facilitate shipping where possible, though this can vary depending on regulations and logistics between the UK and EU. Our support team remains committed to assisting you in resolving this matter.
Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated, and we are dedicated to finding a resolution that works for you.

I stay away from fine Wine

I stay away from fine Wine. Not interested. I have invested in Whiskey. I'm not sure why all the negativity.
The company tells you when you invest that it could take several years for any kind of return to develop.
My portfolio is up 12.3 % . I add small amounts monthly in cash to it. My goal was a couple casks a year. Get them rotating on a 5-7 year basis where I'd get a return yearly after 5 years
I never expect any return for 5-7 years.

As a matter of fact this investment may never be cashed out. I want to leave it to my trust for the family.

If you need the money or can't afford to have it tied up then by all means stay away.
I've had a good experience so far. I understood from the start there would be a storage fee.

The platform is easy to use. We will see if it comes time for a return it's for real.
So far so good.

Absolute Scam

Honestly, I truly believe Vinovest has scammed me. I've invested around $7000 and I've been trying to liquidate my portfolio for months. Only two have received any offers. Worse still, I opened an account for my mom. The $5,000 I helped her invest is now down 20 percent. I listed her wines at the same time as I listed my own and she has not received a single offer on any of them. It's been months! At this point, we're desperate to get any sort of recoup of our money. We both realize we have lost money at this point, but it looks more and more likely we may never see any of this money again. While all of our wines remain unsold, Vinovest continues to take out its monthly fee. Over time, this fee will whittle away our account to nothing. Shame on this company and shame on Anthony Zhang. I wish I could go back and take back my investment.

Hello Dennis,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience.

We strive for each customer to have a full understanding of how wine and whiskey investing works and timeline for potential returns to be realized. Both wine and whiskey are long term investments and do not produce immediate returns. It takes years for both whiskey and wine to mature and to reach their peak market value. It’s not uncommon to see nonlinear growth of the value of wine after they are originally released. We do apologize if this was not communicated thoroughly with you when you began your investment with Vinovest.

Thank you again for your feedback. Please reach out to our support team if there are any questions we can answer for you or if we can assist you in any way.

HUGE SCAM/ MAFIA. KEEP AWAY!!!!!

HUGE SCAM. This is even worsse than a ponzi pyramid. They make fool of you about possessing fine wines and they keep taking high monthly fees for the storage of the wines while they do not own any bottles at all. They even "buy" the wines a lot more expensive than you can find them in the market and their price keeps falling every year.
You cannot even have your wines sent at your place because the fees for this are higher than the price of the wines themselves. You get ridiculously low offers to sell the wines. The customer service is terrible. I wonder how is this Mafia business still running. Even the score in trustpilot is not reliable because of the fake reviews that have been found and deleted.

Hello Kostas,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience with the Vinovest platform. I am so sorry to hear it was not a fully positive experience. This is not the experience we want our clients to have.

Our goal is full transparency with all investors surrounding each aspect of their wine investment, including monthly fees, shipping costs and the process to sell wines. Our platform allows for customers to list their wines at any time if they choose, this does not guarantee immediate sales. Wine takes years to mature and reach its peak market potential. We do apologize if this was not communicated thoroughly with you when you began your investment with Vinovest in 2021. Each wine is listed on markets outside of the Vinovest platform. This however does not mean we are able to control the bids a customer may receive.

All wines are stored in state of the art bonded facilities. The monthly storage fees are vital to ensure the wines are continually stored in optimal conditions preserving their value until they are ready to be sold.

We are continually working to improve the shipping process for interested customers and to lower the costs when possible.

Our support team will follow up with you via email with an update and to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Lost so much money and impossible to get out

Sold false expectations+ No transparency on fees. The company makes it impossible to get out even if I loose half of the money. Communication is very slow and a lot of misinformation. Plus Vinovest creates constraints and makes the client pay for it.
It's the worse investment decision I've ever made and still not able to get out

Hi Alexandra,

Thank you for your additional feedback. I am so sorry to hear your experience with Vinovest was not what you had anticipated.

We apologize if there was any misunderstanding on the monthly storage fees for your wines and that there would be an additional cost to have your wines removed from their bonded warehouse and shipped to you.

We have confirmed your account has been fully closed as all wines have been delivered to you and the last remaining funds also returned.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

I enjoyed selecting my wine but not enjoying the financial loss

I very much enjoyed selecting my own portfolio, which I discussed with Anthony and appreciated his insights. I am a WSET 1, 2 and 3 certificate holder, as well as an Italian, French and Spanish Wine Scholar, and also did masterclasses, on-site, at Bourgogne, Bordeaux, Champagne, Rioja and Piemonte. I enjoy the online system of vinovest and find it easy to use. I marked the experience 3 out of 5 stars because more than 2 years later, I am at a significant financial loss, even before selling commissions etc. I appreciate that this is how the market behaved. But as an investor, I could have done infinitely better on bonds, or share, or even CDs. Anyway, I will stick it out for another 3 years and then see if I liquidate or stay in.

Long delays on withdraws

I have been waiting for weeks to get my money back from VinoVest, and it’s still nowhere to be seen. Normally, transferring cash from the US to the UK takes a couple of days at most, so these delays are completely unacceptable. In an age of fast international transfers, there’s no excuse for this kind of wait, and it’s making me seriously question the trustworthiness of the platform. If they can’t return your money quickly, how can you trust them with your investments? Until this issue is resolved, I wouldn’t recommend using VinoVest. Proceed with caution!

How fast the wines are assigned to you, it is like magic!

The thing that I like the most is how easy the wines are bought and assigned to you in your stock, me being a person that does not know much about wines I am able to see on a daily basis how the price changes for each of my own wines.

I do think that app needs some improvements like the ability to see your owner documents over your wines or more information like how much I have earned based on the money I invested.

I’m not sure I would invest again

I’m not sure I would invest again. You need to come up with capital each month for storage and unlike traditional equities there aren’t dividends. So whatever your investment stake is take the fee and multiply it by years you intend to hold. Not ideal. Not super straight forward.

Investment levels too broad and not enough perks.

Get a good dividend paying stock like SBUX and put things on auto pilot.

Hello Dominic,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback. We understand your concerns, and we'd like to provide some context regarding the nature of fine wine investment.

Unlike other more traditional investments, fine wine investment operates over a longer timeline. Immediate returns , especially after only investing for a few months, are not typical, as wine needs time to mature and appreciate in value. The growth is commonly non-linear, and the value tends to increase significantly over several years rather than in short-term periods. While storage fees are part of maintaining the quality and provenance of the wines, we work hard to ensure they are competitive and transparent.

We understand that dividend-paying stocks may be more suitable for certain investment goals. Fine wine investment, however, provides diversification and unique benefits that are less correlated with traditional markets.

We value your feedback on perks and levels, and we’re continually exploring ways to enhance the experience for all investors. If you have further questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at any time.

Invest only if you are ok with losing it

EDIT JUNE 2025
It's been now almost 5 years, and I can tell for sure that I lost at least 23% of the initial investment. 3 wines remain unsold.
---
I've been an investor for almost 4 years now, so it's a good moment to make a review. I have always been a "managed" investor.

Vinovest concept is good. If you are willing to invest in wine, you must know it's an alternative asset, with it pros and cons. That's fine. You manage your wealth, but as a general rule, don't invest all your savings in one alternative asset. However, my issues are not related to investing in wine, which I think is cool. My concerns with this platform are about trust. Investing in the long term with a company that fails on building trust is a big bet, especially considering that you need to pay the maintainance bill (fees) for a long time before you see any profit. And fees are high for unlikely returns. For those wondering, my average wine has been for three years in my portfolio. 63% have a negative result. Overall, the portfolio market value is in slightly positive numbers, but I spent way more in comissions than won in market value.

Now, the story. At the beginning, I thought they were just starting, so I gave them some credit. Product was still basic, but I was hoping it would become stronger. However, I started loosing trust slowly. Lately, I ask myself if it's a scam or communications/management are really bad. Key information is kept in secret. Wines are stored in "world-class wine storage facilities" (no details on real facilities and, in case you are wondering "clients are not permitted to pick up their wine from our storage facilities."). Wines are sold to "a network of trusted partners and buyers". Key features are buggy (recent "price sync" for listings is a good idea with poor execution, as listing will show that such an important feature is enabled or disabled randomly), "pending sales" taking ages (while market price increases). Selling wines at market prices is impossible (so is it really a market?). Withdrawal is still an email process, but I get that, that's not the biggest issue here.

Eleven months ago I decided to give a try to selling wines, just to test the feature and have a taste of how I could exit this investment, eventually. I was hoping that the launch of the trading option will at some point converge or help in the liquidity of "managed portfolios". That is not the case. In eleven months I only sold three wines out of 14 in listing. Last sale was 6 months ago. I still don't understand how wines priced at the market level or below won't have any buyers. I get the liquidity thing, but you are supposed to be onboarding people wanting to buy, you have the trading platform, but wines won't sell. From time to time you receive extremely low offers. You could try to ship them all to your house, but this is expensive and "The process of preparing these wines for shipment is quite extensive" (more empty answers), "There is also a warehouse consolidation fee of $XXX. " (literal). At least this will open the possibility of drinking / selling on ebay. Usually, you'll receive very slow bids on your wines. I've only sell wines at net loss. Additionaly, everything pays a fee. When you sell in advance, you not only pay a fee, but are not allowed to withdraw all your funds. They discretionaly keep some for future fees.

Overall, I would say that I don't know if my wines exist for real, nothing proves that. In the meantime, you pay a monthly fee (2.85% standard, lower if you invest more). They tell the investment horizon is around 10 years. 10 years paying fees is leap of faith that will start costing 28.5% of your capital. In the meantime, I'll keep all my listings open, just in case a miracle happens. I will have a hard time recovering my investment, and at this point I know for sure the net result will be negative.

Hello Hernan,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed experience as a Vinovest investor. We genuinely value your feedback and are committed to addressing your concerns while clarifying some aspects of our platform.
First and foremost, we’d like to acknowledge your patience and support over the years as we continue to refine and enhance our services. Your trust is incredibly important to us, and we take the responsibility of managing your investment seriously.
We understand your concerns about the transparency of storage and buyer networks. Your wines are stored in globally recognized, world-class facilities, ensuring optimal conditions for aging and preservation. While direct pickups from these locations are not feasible for logistical and security reasons, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of care. You can see each wine’s storage location through the provided ownership documents.
When it comes to sales, your wines are marketed to an extensive network of vetted buyers, including collectors, merchants, and brokers. Liquidity in the fine wine market can be slower than traditional markets, but our team continually works to increase exposure and improve the listing process.
We recognize that selling wines in the secondary market requires patience, especially for managed portfolios. Fine wine is a long-term investment with an average horizon of 7–10 years, and returns are often non-linear. While immediate liquidity isn't guaranteed, our goal is to maximize your returns over time.
Fees, including storage and maintenance, are essential to ensure the safe aging and optimal condition of your portfolio.
Thank you again for trusting us with your investment. While we regret that your experience has not met expectations, we’re committed to making improvements that align with your needs. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly if we can provide further assistance.
