We are committed to bringing the most sought after, premium-grade, cask whisky to our discerning clients. With over a decade of industry experience we ensure our clients are only exposed to world famous Scottish distilleries that have a proven track record of excellence.
Our clients typically purchase a ‘young’ cask sourced from a renouned distillery, then simply wait for the cask to age and mature gracefully. The longer the wait the greater the increase in quality and desirability of the cask.

Campbeltown Bond
As an existing investor, I paid a visit to the Campbeltown Bond last week. It s a huge undertaking that will have an impact on Campbeltown, boosting the local economy,
Fergus the MD, picked us up in Campbeltown and took us to Machrihanish, where he and James, the manager, gave us a guided tour. Significant work to meet fire regulations has recently been completed, and the erection of racking is about to get under way. The warehouse was previously a huge US Airforce hangar, and the scale of the operation has to be seen to be believed.
Casks are already starting to arrive, so if you have any, they will end up in the state-of-the-art racking in the coming months. All very impressive!

Caveat emptor and know your exit strategy
As someone heavily invested in casks, my main contacts Robert Long and Adam Hawkins welcomed me as “just the customer they’d like to have”. Cue a lengthy period of courting including lunches, drinks, even a trip to Murrayfield. The team here really does "invest in relationships". I was hoping that they would be able to help to find buyers for some of my existing casks, and various overtures were made to that effect but nothing tangible in the end. We evan began a discussion regarding the possibility of an own bottling. I ended up buying two casks of Dalmore 2015 through them, at a combined value of £46k (equivalent to £214/RLA). Alarm bells started ringing when I was offered another parcel of Dalmore 2015 for £150/RLA - and even more so when another third party advised "nothing is worth more than £4 / RLA / year", placing a combined value of £7.7k on the two casks. Note that this a "wholesale value" - in most industries you would obviously expect a wholesale-retail mark up but 6x seems excessive. With the recent noise around fraudulent activity in the industry reaching fever pitch I approached Robert for an exit. To their credit they did find a buyer, however, this was subject to a 20% "early redemption" fee that was not previously advised to me. Now, this is noted in small print on the website but at no point in the purchase process was it pointed out. They did reduce this to 15% as a token of goodwill - still a very expensive rugby ticket and lesson. The team at VA are adamant they are doing the right thing, building a fully integrated operation including storage and exit strategy through bottling. I obviously didn't fully test that - getting 85% back was more important to me than 0% - and I remain dubious about bubble market cask valuations premised on theoretical unicorn bottles. Vintage Acquisitions maintain that they are building a independent bottling brand and customer base willing to pay a premium for single casks and thereby building a distribution platform for the liquid in casks at their in house valuations. This certainly makes them a much more credible player than others in the industry. However, at the end of the day the numbers speak for themselves: £7k out of pocket and not a single one of my casks sold.
