Buyer Protection on Vinted is Meaningless

I paid Vinted’s Buyer Protection fee, but when I received sandals that were unusable due to an undisclosed loose/wide fit, Vinted refused the return because the size label matched the listing.

My complaint was not that the size label was wrong. The issue was that the main strap and toe loop did not hold the foot securely, making the sandals unstable and unwearable. I provided photos showing the problem, but Vinted focused only on the label rather than the actual fit issue.

The seller refused the return and suggested I resell the item myself. Vinted’s response has left me with an unusable item despite paying for Buyer Protection.

I should have checked Trustpilot before buying through Vinted. Given Vinted’s 1.3 “Bad” rating, I now understand why so many buyers are frustrated with the support process.

I will be reporting my experience to Trading Standards and disputing the transaction with my bank.

Bad support for sellers

Bad support for sellers. If listing two of same item or similar items, account will get shut down for 5 days, without prior warning. There is nobody to talk to. And when you try to appeal, the time frame to receive an answer is 10 days!!!!

This app is TRASH!

Absolute garbage app! More than half of the sellers are scammers trying to get you to go off site to "purchase” the item that was their sons/husbands/brothers/pet giraffes who passed away tragically, and when you report them, somehow they aren't violating the ToS. Uhm... but wait, there's more! I made a purchase, then immediately I received a message that I was permanently banned for violating the ToS! WtffFffFff??!! I have been buying from Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, etc for years and never once had an issue. I had Vinted for 10 minutes as a BUYER, and somehow I'm banned PERMANENTLY?? Steer VERY clear of this app!!

Really disappointed with a recent…

Really disappointed with a recent purchase on vinted . Bought a pair of trainers damaged and absolutely stank . Put into dispute with vinted and returned to seller but only got a refund for price of trainers so lost out on all postal costs , so unfair . How can people be so dishonest and vinted don't protect you . Guys you pay 85p for buyer protection ... you are not protected .. eBay protect you ..

I wouldn’t even give them a 1 star but…

I wouldn’t even give them a 1 star but you have to choose 1 to leave a review. Make sure you check that your bank account works with them before selling anything or you won’t get your money. They keep giving me the run around for 3 weeks now and refuse to give me my earnings. They keep blaming the error on me and that I didn’t put my info in correctly. I will never sell anything through this company again.

Zero credit for such a fake phone bad…

Zero credit for such a fake phone bad busines market place that is totally run by robots 😀
Be aware that you are not supported as a seller or a buyer with any issues that might unexpectedly come up with y your transactions
You are on your own and always on the looser side of things
If you want to return an item, it is literally next to impossible, no matter how much evidence you have uploaded, as basically they do not want to refund you the buyer’s protection fee that have gained and rather force you to list back on your side and re sell so they can gain more buyer protection fees next time around

They bully you if you keep asking for an update

They don’t chase any party to complete a purchase so you get your money as a seller, as they invest in the meantime with the money in transit and gain more profits

A fraudulent business that is not worth running at all and this is the least to say 😡

Terrible customer support…

Absolutely terrible customer support from Vinted.

A buyer purchased a bundle of clothes from me, and I shipped everything promptly. The buyer then never picked up the package. According to Vinted’s own terms and conditions, uncollected parcels should automatically be returned to the seller after a certain amount of time.

After waiting TWO MONTHS with no return and no update, I contacted Vinted support asking them to return my items. Their response was simply that they had messaged the buyer and that we needed to give the buyer more time to collect the parcel.

I waited another three weeks, even contacted the buyer myself, but they completely ghosted and never responded.

Now it has been over THREE MONTHS, and Vinted support has stopped responding entirely. I either want my items returned or compensation for the sale, but there is apparently no real way to contact anyone or escalate the issue.

Another one with a rubbish and…

Another one with a rubbish and frustrating refund story about Vinted. So here they go again, the notorious customer service team giving you either automated replies or the usual runaround for refunds. Bought a ski jacket early April, shipped 14th expected by 16th April. Never arrived so contacted seller and we waited even though it was tracked. Never showed up so contacted Royal Mail that said they would class it lost by 25th April. Told Vinted this and they said I had to wait 25 business days so May 19th to get a refund. So wait those days and make a claim on 19th may, now 30 days from date of order. They then tell me wait 2 days whilst they evaluate..mmm ok but what was the 25 days for ? then they say they need to assess the claim and contact the shipper, so Royal Mail yeah. But wait Royal mail have already classed it as lost so refund now coming ? nope.. I now have to wait another 30 business days to let Royal Mail come back to them.. wtf, seriously this Vinted company is a joke and must be making some money on interest on payments whilst they faff about. Utter garbage platform and avoid if you can..

3 weeks for a refund

It took nearly 3 full weeks for them to issue a refund on an item damaged in transit. No way to contact a human being, and they even disabled the part where you submit feedback. Shameful, disgusting customer service.

Vinted allowed my buyer to keep my designer bag and refunded them — sellers beware

I am absolutely appalled by my experience with Vinted as a seller and would strongly warn anyone against selling anything valuable on this platform.

I sold an expensive designer bag, packaged securely in extra-tough packaging bags bought specifically for posting items. I have used these bags for all my sales with no previous issues and have also received so many parcels packaged in the same way.

The buyer claimed the item was damaged in transit and had mud on it. If the issue happened during transit, I cannot understand why I have been penalised when the courier was arranged through Vinted/the buyer, not by me. Mud is also wipeable, so I do not understand how this justified the buyer being refunded while also keeping my item.

Vinted took weeks to “review” the issue for the buyer, then asked me for evidence of my packaging. I provided this immediately, and within 2 minutes (time stamped messages) they decided against me. That is not a fair or meaningful investigation. I asked them to review their decision and after 3 minutes responded that they had “reviewed it again and their decision is final” where was the review?

The result is that the buyer has received a refund and kept my designer bag, while I have lost both the item and the money. I was not properly given the option to have the item returned to me. As a seller, this feels completely unacceptable and deeply unfair.

This does not appear to be a one-off issue. There are multiple seller experiences online and in Vinted seller Facebook groups where sellers report losing both their item and their money after disputes over packaging when proof would show the packaging was more than substantial. I would strongly advise anyone considering selling on Vinted to look at Vinted seller Facebook groups and independent reviews before parting with valuable items.

In my opinion, Vinted’s seller protection is not fit for purpose. Their process feels one-sided, automated, and unfair, and their customer support has been extremely poor and rude.

I will be escalating this further, but I would not trust Vinted again with any high-value item. Don’t donut for your own sanity.

Seller and buyer beware

I started selling on this site, when after 3 sales, of just selling my clothes I no longer wanted, it told me I was Banned!! Its difficult to see why, it claimed I was one of the following - selling stolen goods, selling fraudulent goods or had multiple accounts. I have no idea why they thought this - the customer service is also hard to communicate with... it was very insulting and I was stumped to understand why. There is £11 I cant get to- just image if they did this to 50,000 people, which wouldn't be hard for a site like this... never again vinted - it seems after warning me about scammers, they should of also warned me of them!

Unfair block danicadanka218

After an update, bots blocked me for "suspicious activity". Profile: danicadanka218 (245 reviews). For a month, they left me logged in only in the browser on my laptop, but even that did not discourage me, and I continued to successfully add and sell clothes. 3 weeks ago, they logged me out completely. Support does not communicate, only bots. ESC in Lithuania is solving it. For this approach after 3 months of fighting, I would not give even 1 star! I demand unblocking!

Really disappointed with Vinted support…

Really disappointed with Vinted support right now. The buyer herself confirmed that the damage appeared to happen during transit and even went through the shipping label after posting. Despite that, Vinted decided not to arrange the return of my item. I understand the buyer being refunded for a damaged parcel, but I have now completely lost a very expensive cashmere piece originally worth around £125. This feels incredibly unfair for sellers.

I’ve been selling on vinted since its existence. i have impeccable reputation, over 600 5* reviews
2 weeks ago i have been banned for uploading a “counterfeit” item flagged by their bot. i supplied the evidence, proof of purchase and they chose to ignore it.
i have reported multiple listings created by bots and selling counterfeit but they never took action upon these items. avoid this platform, they ruined their reputation and keep getting worse. the whole platform lost its purpose of sustainability when they introduced commercial selling

Blocked for no reason

They blocked my account because they "suspect" I conducted fraud. No proofs on this, no evidences, just a message saying I was blocked. I opened a claim 6 days ago but nobody answered. Very bad and frustrating experience, they close accounts with no motivation and no way to contest. They accused me to sell counterfeit things, but I can prove all my items was original!

I would give them a 0 if I can. Don't use the vinted website. Bad customer service. My account was deleted for trying to sell a new item with tag. Their reason was a counterfeit item. It was not. Do not sell anything on this website. It's worthless.
