Avoid at all costs
For some reason, I’m unable to use roaming. Every time I travel abroad, my phone simply doesn’t work.
When I was in the UK, I logged a support ticket, but it took over two hours using the most frustrating chatbot imaginable. It kept timing out and kicking me out of the conversation, so getting help was incredibly difficult.
Now I’m back home, I’ve lost signal again. The chatbot support is switched off until Monday, and the phone AI system, Cara, is shockingly poor. I’ve tried calling three times, but it can’t even find my account, and there seems to be no way to speak to a real person.
The lack of reliable service combined with the impossibility of getting proper customer support has been extremely disappointing. I expected far better and I will be changing provider.
Disgraceful system, entirely broken web portal
The online customer portal is entirely broken. I have been locked out of my account, and the 'password reset' function is trapped in a completely useless loop that fails every single time. Because of their glitchy website, I cannot even access or download my own past bills—which I legally require.
To make matters worse, they don't even provide a direct customer service email address for issues like this, forcing you to fight with a broken website or waste time on the phone. It is unacceptable for a major telecoms provider to have a digital infrastructure this poorly managed. I should not have to jump through hoops just to access my own statements and submit my contractual 30 days' notice.
Atrocious service
Atrocious service, simply want to order a ppv fight on virgin but no option on the tv order it so rang a good few times and no one has a clue what is going on, 1 person says it’s not available to order and someone else says it’s available🤷♂️ coyboys,
I'd rather pull my own teeth out.
The Mobile department, specifically, are actively horrible at their jobs.
Mobile support is outsourced to a call centre, the people working there are not provided enough information or resources to deal with any issues. Once they reach the point where their lack of information causes frustration, they will either pass you to someone else for the same experience, or just hang up mid sentence.
The service has, repeatedly, completely failed to work. I have two separate sim cards with this company, and both of them have failed, so it's not a unique issue. Multiple times, they have been unable to connect to the carrier while abroad. In my effort to resolve this problem, the best advice the support team could provide was "buy a roaming package for €5", then realising that roaming was included in my contract.
In an attempt to make up for this issue, my account was credited. While applying this credit, the support agent caused a billing issue that persisted for seven months. This ultimately concluded with multiple months of bills being taken from my bank account via direct debit at once, without my consent and without me even being informed.
In their attempt to make up for THIS issue, they have made several more mistakes. The end result of this was me just giving up, and telling the customer support agent "just do what you want". What the agent did was credit my ALREADY CLOSED Broadband account with half of the money that was mistakenly taken from my bank account. At the time of writing this review, this issue has still not been resolved. It has been EIGHT MONTHS.
If anyone is actually reading these reviews and thinking about signing up with this company, DO NOT DO IT. My experience with their broadband has been fine, though more expensive than other ISPs, but their mobile service is so horrible that it would be better for everyone to let this company go out of business.
Useless company
Useless company. Constantly overbilling and taking money from my account without agreement. Im sure its illegal what they have been doing. Constantly calling up to get issue resolved. Demanded a call back from manager and it never happens.. when demanding a call from manager a 2nd and 3rd time, rep asks for all the details on why I wana talk to a manager.. look at the issues being had for nearly 2 years! Very very poor service, no commitment to take ownership in resolving issues and management seem to be afraid to speak to customers! Might be an obvious reason why when you read all of these reviews online! Shame on you as a company!
If I could give less stars I would
If I could give less stars I would. Changed on their recommendation last year to new box . If the sun shines the virgin box on the road heats up and our tv and WiFi goes. Wait for it ! When you ring up they send a technician out to open the doors of the box to cool down and that’s how they fit it . So the sun is shining now we have no tv or broadband and no help because there is no help on a Sunday . This has been happening since May . Want to switch provider but they say there’s a penalty for breaking out contract. STAY AWAY
A Frustrating Experience From Start to Finish
This has been, without question, the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Every aspect of it has been frustrating, from the unexplained charges to the complete lack of effective support.
The support "bot" is quite possibly the most useless automated system I've ever encountered. It's not even an AI capable of understanding or resolving customer issues it simply repeats the same scripted responses without addressing the problem. Instead of helping, it makes resolving even a simple issue unnecessarily difficult and wastes customers' time.
I'm a new Virgin Media Ireland…
I'm a new Virgin Media Ireland broadband customer, and so far I've had a really good experience.
When I called 1908 in the morning, I got through without waiting too long. Calling after 6pm was a different story—I ended up in the queue for over 15 minutes, but I suppose that's to be expected during the evening rush.
I spoke to Allen and Deepak (apologies if I've misspelled your names), and both were genuinely helpful. They went the extra mile to check the costs involved and arranged for an engineer to move the fibre box to a different location. A great start so far!
Robot update is just so annoying and you can't get passed on to a real person like a customer care representative
The service is going from bad to worst, I've been trying to pay my bill gor the past 30 minutes and I can't anymore. It usually gives me the option to type for self service but now you get this BOT called ciara who is soo annoying and keeps hanging up on me with no options to even pass me on to a customer care representative. So now how do I get in touch with the customer care team???? It also asking a bunch of questions which is sooooo annoying because I don't like to talk all I want to just pay my Bill by using the self service option, is that too much to ask??? I'm really annoyed
Worst service in the world in internet
Worst service in the world in internet
down since 10 o'clock this told it would be back by 3 pm 6pm now still not back won't be back till 10pm if can believe that wouldn't recommend this service to anyone and for their AI answering service
No customer loyalty at all - buyer beware!!!
Writing on behalf of my Mum who is an old age pensioner, she has been with Virgin Media for years. She is paying over €70/month for Broadband. She rang into Virgin customer service to see if they would do anything on the price, bearing in mind new customers are being offered €35 per month. Most other BB providers are coming in at less than this but for some reason Virgin are the only ones who can do the 500mb. did they offer her anything? €62.50 for 24 months or €38.75 for 6 months and there after full price of €77.50! What a cop out! This was with the "loyalty" department!!! Why are providers not taking care of loyal customers? There is no incentive to stay with these people. They refused to budge an inch. Poor service
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible - Told by an obnoxious agent on the phone that her elderly parents and her sister had no issues setting the box up. It was plug and play and I'd be up and running in 48 hours. 7 days later still no internet. Liars, terrible customer service, robot Cara is deplorable.
I have actually had so much hassle with…
I have actually had so much hassle with them it’s unbelievable, I purposely had canceled my direct debit as they keep overcharging me and I go onto the app and pay because I don’t trust them, I cancelled my internet with them and they rang me and offered me a lower contract of €40 a month. Just got my most recent bill and it’s still my previous bill amount which is €64.99, they are absolutely useless!
A terrible Virgin service…
Monday 22nd June I upgraded my modem box in order to get more giga bytes. Wednesday the box arrived. After following installation instructions, no internet connection. I rang 1908 to try and get connection. After 3/4 hour an agent promised that it would be connected. Thursday 2 more calls, promises of connection within 24 hours. Same on Friday. Same today Saturday.no Internet connection.
I was tempted to change my mobile provider and go with Virgin. 3 advised me against this. Happy am I that I stayed away from Virgin mobile. Their service is awful.
I renewed my contract for 2 years
I renewed my contract for 2 years, a month later my modem/router broke, a week later, I'm still waiting for a replacement, I've told them I've a special needs boy who needs the Internet for his deceive for communicating, obviously they don't care, I was going to switch my phone with them, not a chance now as very unreliable, when my 2 years is up, I'll be getting a new internet company, they've lost my trust, avoid
Lies and time wasters
I contracted broadband and mobile from them with a representative that called in to my house. He lied by saying that the price would never increase, which, as soon as I got the contract on my email (more than 72 h later), I saw was not true and it would increase. I cancelled immediately, but they still sent the SIM cards and charged me for one month, even though I cancelled even before they shipped them. Then I had to wait a full month for them to be able to send me back my money. Regarding this, I was advised twice on the phone that it could be sent back to my direct debit, the second time I was even told it would be done automatically at maximum 5 working days after the next bill was issued. Of course this was not the case, and the next time I contacted them I was told they could not return my money to my direct debit, but instead it had to be done via cheque which would take 6-8 WEEKS!!! to arrive. I am not still waiting for said cheque.
All in all, the people in the company are clearly missinformed, or are told to lie regarding the possibility of returning money to customers that they are owed; their representatives lie, and they make people waste their time having to contact them multiple times for money they are owed. Terrible experience and I will never do business with them again.
Once you're in
Once you're in, they do everything in their power to not let you leave and hide all details of your contract. Problems I faced:
- Absolutely no contract information anywhere. I couldn't find any email and absolutely no information about it in their online portal. Sure they show previous bills but you're gonna be hit by a surprise doubling of your bill unless you're on the ball, which is what they're clearly banking on.
- No way to cancel your subscription online.
- I tried to do it over the phone and their bot hung up on me. It asked me to say my Eircode but then couldn't understand me when I was saying it.
- Then I went to chat and after waiting, an agent eventually told me that they couldn't cancel over chat and I'd have to go back via the phone bot.
The worst service ever.After faulty…
The worst service ever. After faulty modem replacement no internet connection at all.Technical support below all standards, could not switch modem on they server. After hanging on phone every day for hours,I terminated contract.Company deserves zero star.Avoid them at all cost.
Appalling customer service
Up to last year 2025 it was possible to speak to an individual. Now it is Cara - an appalling robot which is clearly designed to shield Virgin media from any customer engagement. Last year I would have given Virgin Media 4* this year zero. My broadband is down for 2 days. Virgin are uncontactable.
Terrible experience with Customer Service
1. Virgin Media does not allow any emails (username) with a .tld different that .com .net .org .ie
2. Customer will call, test it, and say yes VM doesn't allow it. Didn't even reach the relevant team or check if any other customers might have a .co.uk .fr or .de.
3. Customer Service keep interrupting you without listening, and will eventually hang up on the middle of the conversation !! CS just added more problems after their call, because I was unable to connect to my VM account.
4. Reported the issue to complaint team - they are listening, but will most likely not doing anything (not even report CS agent who didn't behave well).
I will finish my contract, and have a think to switch with another ISP.
