The little money you will save by flying with Viva you will spend later on all the fees they charge you at the airport and time. Their website is a joke, i couldn't check in for my two flights on their website on 4 different devices (there is an extra fee if you check in at the airport) The staff are bots that are trained at telling you there is nothing they can do and blame "the system" for their fees. Our flight back to Lima was schedule for 12:30pm, it got pushed back to 1:30 pm the plane couldn't land for a few hours due to wind conditions (it was beautiful and sunny outside), plane finally arrived at 4:45 pm, we left at around 6pm and they tried to sell us water on the plane. if you are completely broke and like horrible customer service fly with Viva air.
Lack of certain safety measures
The booking process is as terrible as one might expect (from an average budget airline), but have to admit that the online check-in was fairly painless. Except for the single annoying fact that if you didn't reserve your seats in advance (for extra money of course), there's a 100% probability (n=3) that you won't sit together with your travel companion, even if the plane isn't fully booked. Haven't seen such 'penalty' taken place before, usually passengers under same booking are seated together, IF FEASIBLE at the time of check-in. Flights were OK.

But wait... there's one more thing. The EXIT seats didn't have any passengers. Surely, I searched the internet to find out that this _isn't_ actually a regulatory requirement, but arguably an easy safety measure to fulfill, and most of the airlines also do seek to get someone to sit on these seats (and many passengers even prefer to be reseated, due to spacious legroom).
So we actually took the opportunity, not just for us, but for the general safety. This was fine until we were told to go back to our original seats, because apparently those sitting next to EXIT doors need to speak local language as MOTHER TONGUE.
Heck, I don't know if that was some level of discrimination or what, but can't still wrap my head around why one needs to speak fluent - sorry, native level - language in order to open the emergency door in case of... emergency, or something.
Just give your policies another thought.

Absolutely horrible service.. One hour before our flight left, they closed for luggage drop off. So we missed the flight... We were told that we could change the ticket for an extra cost. We asked the lady behind the counter, if we could get some time to talk about it, and she said yes. When we came back after 30 minutes they upped the price for the change to 300 US dollars. It was more than the tickets had costs us in the first place... I talked to a guy who was SO impolite and arrogant. He said that it was the policy of the company. I turned to the lady who gave us the first price and asked her, why she didn't warn us about the spike in the price, and the man just waved a hand in front of me saying that she couldn't speak English - eventhough we've talked together 30 minutes before that... He just kept lying after that.
My husband went to talk to them after me, and they just completely ignored him. The girls behind the counter chatted while the guy just wouldn't answer him.
If you consider flying with Viva air - just don't...
If they are your only option, go by foot!
If you are using their service to try to save money, you better think twice.
It is interesting the way they think it is ok to be over one hour late, not display the flight on the board until very late (leaving all customers very confused without knowing what to do), change the time of the flight as they are pleased and after all that they still think it is ok to charge you the price of another new ticket if your bag is just a little bit bigger than the size they determinate!
They will charge you extra for anything they can. For example, if you are travelling with someone else you can only seat next to this person if you pay extra to change seats.

Delayed flights… itiniary changed a million times to the point where we couldnt be on time for the next flight. No responsibility taken - only extremely pricy alternatives offered. Deliberately puts your seating away from your travel partner(s) and then offers you to pay for a change on the actual flight.

The worse airline I’ve ever travelled with. If you’re looking to travel with this airline please be ready to loose up some extra cash on hidden charges. The staff are rather inept and not very helpful, I almost felt as if they were mocking me the whole time by offering “solutions” that simply led me to dead ends.
As an example they didn’t let me check in the site/app because there happens to be an “error”. Once I get to the airport they inform me that I have to pay an extra Fee because I was checking in less than 3 hours before my flight???
Then I notice they reduce the measurements of luggage limits by about 3cm so they can pretty much charge extra to anybody with a hand luggage (having in mind mine is already smaller than the average hand luggage).
So crashing. Please avoid this airline at maximum cost!

Worst airline ever. It's not an exaggeration to say that they are thieves. I was on the phone with a representative in order to reschedule a flight. He literally repeated the itinerary put loud and I paid. When I checked the next morning it was for the wrong destination. Then, they said that I paid the wrong way on their website by using PayPal and I needed to pay again the $100. Absolutely absurd. Then they charged about 300% more than what is listed on their website when it comes to luggage. Avoid this airline like monkey pox

No amount of savings is worth your peace of mind. This airline is the WORST! It does not matter where you are going, stay away. I am going to Colombia for the first time and on Viva Air. I was so excited but now i am scared because of the chaos of this airline. The website is a disaster, they charge you for everything including if you do not check in on the website! I've NEVER seen an airline this despicable!!! The website will make you scream. One second you'll see baggage options i.e. 20kg, 25kg, 30kg weight (which by the way you will pay >$286 for two weighing 44lbs (20Kg) round trip and when you blink only 20kg is available. You enter your payment information and because the website is SOOOO BAD, it doesn't go through; I've even used PayPal and it still doesn't work! If I cannot have a peaceful moment on their website, I am so scared when it's time for me to fly on 7/30/22..Please pay more with a USA company i.e. Spirit Airlines which surprising better than this stone age airline. Nothing is worth your peace of mind. This will be my first and last time

First of all, you can't take cabin bags with unless you pay (but that I already knew before I bought it).
Second, I tried to do the online check in the day before but the site wasn't working well (I had to change my birthday date because it was wrong and the button to change wasn't working), so I give up and decided to do the check in the airport. When I got there, they told me I had to pay 58,5 nuevo soles (more or less 15 euros or dollars) because I didn't do the online check in. Well, I've been traveling a lot in the last couple of years and I've known several airline companies, and I NEVER HAD TO PAY FOR THE CHECK IN! Even more, I tried to explain the situation but it didn't help. I ask for the complaint book, which, once again, was not working well on the website, so they gave me a physical one. After I gave them the book, they answered right in the moment and said that they didn't seen in the system that I tried to do the check in (which I did!) and they even add that I bought the ticket through a travel agency (like if it was a problem).
I'm very upset with this company and I don't advise anyone to flight with them!

Worst company ever, we booked a flight where the online check-in didn't worked. Charged us 15$ for every boarding pass when it was not our fault. Also, in the airport of Cusco they checked all the luggages which made all the persons to spent much more time than was expected on the check-in. Some of this persons needed to pay the express check-in line to avoid the cue and miss their flights. If possible don't choose Viva to fly.

We bought a ticket a week ago but never received any confirmation on email, ticket number, order number - nothing. However the money was withdrawn from out account. So we wrote them an email explaining this and they told us we need to call their number. 3rd day in a row now waiting 50 min+ until they hang up. Then we tried to write them on WhatsApp but it's just a bot and as soon as you ask your question there isn't an answer. Appalling service. Shameful.
Update: We recieved the ticket 1 day before departure - why is this not stated more clearly if this is procedure? Please invest in your infrastructure so customers dont lose out on flights they bought because you cant run the process in time... that is what some of the money that I give you should go towards..

Worst airline ever, avoid at all cost! The airline is literally only looking to scam money from people. My friend and I were denied to board a flight from Lima to Bogota last night, together with half the people on that flight. The airline did not in any way inform passengers that an exit flight is required to fly into Colombia until they came to the check in desk at the airport. At this point, passengers were frantically trying to book flights to anywhere just to not miss their flight. To everyone's despair, unless you book a flight directly with an airline, a booking through an agent is not accepted. I booked through an agent, and my friend was in the process of booking a flight when the lady at the check in desk (Betty) took our passports and ripped up the tickets in our face cold bloodedly and told us that we have now missed our flight. There was no sympathy or compassion whatsoever. Betty definitely should not be working with people or customer service. We then booked a new ticket for today, at extortionate prices, as did most of the people who were turned away the day before. The website had issues and would not let us check in any luggage, so we had to pay twice as much for this at the check-in desk. We pleaded with the staff to take into account that we had paid for this the day before. Again, no compassion. There was a queue of about 300 people checking in for 2 flights, one after the other, and the staff did not seem to care that time was running out. Having eventually been checked in at 6.15am, and ran to catch our 7am flight, there were no facilities whatsoever to make it through security and immigration any quicker. We had to plead with fellow passengers to let us through so we could catch our flight. We got to the gate at 6.59am and just made it before they closed the gate. About a dozen people didn't though, as their names were called out on the plane, and their bags taken off. Appalling service from the airline and ground staff from start to finish. I will certainly never use again, and would urge others not to either. It is worth paying a bit more to receive professional and compassionate human service.
