We love our garden room

We love our garden room, the installation was quick and easy and we have had a lot of use out of it. However we were told that there would be support with maintenance which we really wanted and that has turned out not to be case. The company doesn't want to do that. Also says there is a warranty but I have been asked repeatedly for support with the doors which are difficult to open and close and have had no response to this issue. I gave the company many opportunities to help me with this problem before I came on here to write this. So I would say yes it seems great but if maintenance and help with looking after the new building is important to you, you won't get that from Vivid Green.

Unprofessional and poor finish

The design experience was very poor. They are definitely not designers, they are salespeople. They didn't notice a bunch of stuff on the design that meant that when the builder arrived we had to improvise.

The office staff are very difficult to deal with. Trying to get any aftercare assistance or advice is a trial.

The finish on the building is very disappointing. There are patches of unfinished areas which should have wood treatment on them. Where they HAVE applied the wood treatment, it's often onto dirty wood so that the dirt is now sealed under a coat of oil. Overall it feels like a total rush job. Not surprising given that the builder brought his son to help apply the wood treatment so they could move onto the next job...

Overall the company are just not professional:

They had our job in the diary for about 6 months, then moved it only a few days before.

The skip company they hired swung the skip into the side of our house.

The local council required protective fencing and flooring to to put up during the build. The Vivid Green response was 'we should by the letter of the law but it's unlikely that anyone will see so we'll probably getaway with it.' We insisted on the fencing in the end, but it was a battle.

It's such a shame as it should have been a good experience. The materials are good. The build (excluding the exterior finish) is good. But the customer experience is awful. For the money it costs, it should be better.

I would recommend avoiding and go with someone else.

Great company. Smooth experience. No hidden costs.

Great company! They built a 6x4m garden office for us, with toilet, decking and an external storage space. The project spec and budget were incredibly detailed. The build was finished in less than 4 weeks, from foundations to end, including painted walls, light fittings, heating, plumbing, external rendering, and decking. Communication was excellent from day one, and the builders were attentive with the property, very flexible, friendly, and clearly motivated to deliver the very best quality. They didn't leave on the last day until everything was spotless clean!

Worth mentioning that we chose white rendering for the exterior walls, and the result is stunning, matching perfectly the existing house extension. It looks as good as traditional brick and mortar, but delivered in a fraction of the time, and with a much better energy rating.

And finally there were no surprises with the final price. It was exactly as quoted, the only extras were last minute changes we asked for during the build. Very smooth experience overall. Highly recommended.

Excellent Outdoor Working Space

From initial contact, through design, quotation, scheduling, build and after care, the service level provided by Vivid has been excellent. From a site survey, to assisting with electrical upgrade requirements, coordinating materials delivery and then arranging resolution of snags (and I was very picky!), the level of knowledge, advice and approachability made the process a breeze. I always felt I could raise concerns or ask questions. I felt confident that my communication was being handled appropriately and in a timely manner.

I've thoroughly enjoyed working with Vivid Green to complete my office installation and am very pleased with my new working space.

A very painful process with poor attention to detail from planning through to build

Overall the build is good BUT.... and it's a big BUT -
the experience was painful.

Had I not been on site, inspecting every step, we would not be where we are now and that is not what I paid for.

I paid for what I thought would be a great installation service along with a great product. I was mistaken.

Whilst the end result is good, I thoroughly recommend you watch every step closely and speak up. Otherwise you'll be settling for less than perfect. And no one wants that for their hard earned dollar.

So: I needed to ask for replacement builders after one week of dealing with extremely rude builders with no interest in my specifications as the client. All the builder wanted to do was get the job done super fast regardless of how I wanted things done. Leaving their old beer cans in the skip was also not a good look and whilst I'm not suggestion they were drinking on the job - the optics did not look good following all the grief they had given me in the run up to discovering this.

Firstly - pest mesh. Do not pay for this unless you realise that all you're getting is what most people call 'chicken wire' and therefore not suitable for keeping rats at bay. It's an absolute rip off. Check out pest mesh online and you'll find galvanised stainless steel mesh from companies that specify their product as a proven deterrent against rats. Chicken wire is not the same and does not do the job. And not only that, it wasn't supplied with the delivery ( it had been forgotten about) and therefore not ready for installation when it needed to be. There was an attempt to fob me off with cement particle board that happened to be on site, but this is not what I paid for and not what is specified by rodent control companies.

This cost did eventually get knocked off my bill, but boy did I have to kick up a fuss about it. And all the builder on site wanted to do was get the job done as fast as he could regardless.

Second - The bi-folds arrived with one unit broken, this happens I know, but also without the correct gasket sealing product. This error was not shared with me, and the builder attempted to shove the doors in ultra rapidly at the end of what turned out to be his last day, as the light failed, resulting in them looking like they had been crowbarred around the frames. They also got fitted with out magnets, which I had to point out otherwise no one would have spoken up.

Again, no communication, purely a case of me needing to inspect every tiny detai &l make lots of phone calls to head office to complain.

Third - I very clearly said where I wanted the fuse box and the builder put it on the wrong wall and then tried to tell me he'd put it where we had agreed.

Fourth - I specified my own Quickstep flooring, and wanted care taking to lay the top of the range laminate so not to put repeat patterns side by side and I was told this was not possible. It is.

I had to insist this was done properly and in the end, along with everything else we insisted on replacement builders.

But not without the first builder leaving without supplying the plan of where he'd placed the electric cables within the walls, now under fresh plaster.

Fifth - When the new builders arrived, the lack of electrical plan resulted in two holes in the wall and ceiling which then had to be filled - there is now a bump in the otherwise perfect plaster. Totally avoidable and thoroughly unprofessional of the first builder.

Sixth - The sedum roof got delivered elsewhere and what arrived at our house was short of at least a square metre. This took weeks to rectify and now it has, we now have over 1m sq of red sedum that has been devoid of sunlight and water, trying to find life on our otherwise lush green roof. I have been assured that this will be replaced if it doesn't live, but I'm not holding my breath.

The guttering took several attempts to fit in its entirety despite all the components being on site. The deck was short of the required length, this also took two attempts to finish off.

Vivid Green tried to fob me off again, with an intention to try and refit the badly fitting, and in fact wrongly specified, gasket to the very expensive windows, despite me having been told it wasn't the right product for acoustic glass. As if I was stupid or something. I of course, said I wanted what I had paid for. Eventually, the gasket got delivered and fitted by the window supply company but only after I insisted they come to do this, and not Vivid Green.

Had the window fitter been informed he would have come with the missing magnets to fit too -but he wasn't told. This had to be done on yet another visit.

I could go on, but this is already an essay.

In short, shop around. Unless you're prepared to give up a lot of your time making sure you get what you want. If you're all about the detail - Vivid Green are not.

I'm happy with the end result but only because I personally supervised every step of the process

Very happy customer!!

I would highly recommend Vivid Green. The whole experience from initial consultation / build / post build snagging has been fantastic. All the employees I met or spoke to were very professional and friendly making you feel your were in good hands. The post build experience was exceptional with some of the snagging being sorted the same day as my email to flag the inevitable issues with any build like this.

I respect anyones individual experience but I would temper the other reviews with the fact that these are challenging times and any building work completed within the pandemic or post it, will no doubt have its challenges.

Finally, worth mentioning that i did shop around and put alot of time into deciding who best to go with and Vivid Green were far more engaging and flexible in the pre build stage which has ended up with a more bespoke studio in my garden rather than the pre fabricated boxes alot of the competition offer. The build components are also very high end which bodes well for the studio to hopefully outlast me.

Super happy and thank Vivid Green for delivering on all your promises.

Garden Room Experience

Had a garden room built during the last lockdown. Had to wait longer than we would have liked but not a surprise given the well documented problems in sourcing building materials, and to be fair they told us the date and then stuck to it. The build process was fairly smooth and the team turned up on site routinely and when they said they would. Any queries were dealt with promptly and without argument. The build took quite a lot longer to complete than estimated but that didn't really bother us and the install team were polite, respectful and hard-working. No obvious corners cut and the finished room looks and functions great for our needs.
The thing I am most impressed by is that about a week ago I reported a couple of snags that in honesty had always been there but I hadn't got around to reporting but had now got worse and I no longer wanted to live with with them. As it was 6 months after completion I thought I may have a 'debate' on my hands to get this sorted without being charged but Vivid Green were fantastic - no arguments, and came and sorted both issues within a week.
That service turned a good experience into a great experience - thank you!

Very disappointing after-care service…

Very disappointing after-care customer service for an enormous investment. Chased for 7 months to get issues resolved. Very poor communication. Wrote to the MD to try and get someone to sort out the problems - he didn’t even bother to reply! They finally sent someone 7 months later, but left us with a pile of wood and rubbish that they promised to pick up. Still waiting weeks later…. Would not recommend.

Not the premium service they make out

Will not fix warrenty issues, Avoid.
We where so hopeful our garden studio experience would be easy and professional and went with Vivid green because of the reviews etc. I must admit the design process was good. However once they started work the problems started. The team that arrived badly damaged our garden despite us asking them to lay boards to protect the wet grass, and at times they where very rude. Once the building was up, they do this disconcertingly quickly, it was apparent that the cladding was not fixed correctly and within weeks was falling off. The sales person was no where to be seen, and we where handed over to the site coordinater who to be fair was lovely. whilst we retained thier final payment they sent people out a couple of times to fix problems, but sadly the snags kept coming up and once we paid the final installment they never came back. I have been chasing them now for four months to fix the bifold doors that no longer open properly, and still fix the wonky cladding. I even offered to use our own carpenter at our cost if they supplied materials but we keep chasing and they keep dodging. Id love to say positive things about this company as the garden room, despite snags is reasonably well designed, but the customer after care is amongst the worst we have ever experienced. For any one considering using vivid green please be careful. They are not as slick as thier website makes out. And we are sadly very disapointed.
