NO VOIPO SUPPORT

Could not rate Zero stars. We have been subscribers since 2010 or so. I have also received duplicate charged going back months. We keep getting charged monthly for 2-year renewals As of December 28th, have now been charged TWICE in December. We opened a support ticket in November requesting a refund. There has been no response and no refunds. Nobody has reached out. ALL support numbers (877-998-6476, 979-829-4200, 713-568-8900) are saying they are either closed or too busy to answer and drop the call. I have submitted a request to the BBB and tried to get my credit card company to block the charges (they won't). If anyone from VOIPO reads this, our support ticket number is: TLH-157-73921.

UPDATE 12/29/2024: VOIPO refunded us partially for the mistaken transactions and closed our ticket. I have opened another ticket with the remaining transactions that need to be refunded. Our ticket number is: BHW-870-96323.

Appears to be Billing Fraud

I like other reviews keep getting charged for years in advance of which I am not approving. The service keeps auto billing and I am paid up through 2040 now and there is no way to cancel the renewals or remove your payment options online.

Billing Problems are Rampant and Uncorrected

After 12 years of fine service and pricing, VOIPO started billing me for 2-year renewals on a monthly basis. That is crazy. I've reported it to the service support who said it went to billing for refund but nothing has happened.

Went from good to pure fraud -- alarming

Like so many others, we have experienced the same fraudulent billing issue with VOIPO as our company has.

Over the past 7 months, we've been overcharged 12+ times, totaling $1,542. VOIPO has known about the issue for months but has failed to inform affected customers and has been slow—or possibly reluctant—to process refunds. The company has shown no urgency in resolving this matter.

As a customer for 14 years, we’ve always loved and even recommended the service. However, we are now deeply concerned that the company has shifted to fraudulent practices.

We reported the billing issue to customer service early December. While they responded promptly, they simply forwarded the ticket to the billing team. We then received a troubling email from billing instructing us not to contact them in any way (email, support ticket, phone, etc.), or it might delay our refund. We’ve since then received no update or communication at all, and have been again fraudulently charged an additional $257.

Given this, we are left with no choice but submit a fraudulent charge claim to our credit card issuer to stop any future unauthorized charges from VOIPO. At the same time, we may need to file a complaint with the appropriate government agency to help bring resolution.

We enjoyed the service for years, but have sadly now completely lost trust in the VOIPO team.

UPDATE 1/9/2025

Ticket number #XUM-877-79660

As we asked our credit card issuer to stop future payments on the card, since VOIPO was not stopping it even upon our request, the card issuer said the only way to surely disassociate the card from VOIPO is for our card issuer to replace our credit card with a new one and then proceed to then file a claim against each of the the fraudulent charges totaling $1,542. Given the circumstances and the limited grace period to file the claims, we had little choice but to follow through with their recommendation.

We very much hesitate to provide our credit card to VOIPO again when our renewal period is due, unless VOIPO can somehow regain the trust of not just us but of other customers. It's a sad case of a great service that just went kaput. We wish VOIPO was more transparent about all of this.

Same story as everyone else

Same story as everyone else. Started in March 2024 and a total of 5 unauthorized billings occurred to the tune of $925. I’m a 14yr customer but will be no longer. Will probably end up losing my phone number I’ve had for 25yrs.

Update12/20/2024: Received a partial refund for 3 of the 5 fraudulent charges. Waiting on the remainder.

Fraudulent Charges and No Response

Like many others, I was billed with fraudulent charges and am unable to receive any answers. Despite being a customer for many years, it appears they are going bankrupt. Support lines don't work and emails unanswered. Avoid.
If I don't hear back, I will file a complaint with the FTC. My support ticket is: #UBZ-900-14209

Update (Dec. 10, 2024): Voipo attempted to charge my card again for $185. Since I switched my account to a privacy.com card with a spending limit, the charge was declined. Still no refund. Not sure what to think of this anymore.

Update (Dec. 20, 2024): Finally received a refund. Thank you. Adding a star - not a great experience.

Fraudulent Charges - No Support Options

Like so many others, I've had fraudulent charges. I've been a customer for a short time (Aug 2024) and had problems out of the gate. I had contacted Mike when I had the first 'extra' charge in Sep 2024. Since then I've not had any replies to support requests, the most recent being today (Dec 4, 2024 ticket #CTM-405-81915). I may join others in their complaints to official oversight agencies.

12/5/2024: UPDATE. I sent an email to support (not through the support feature) and referenced the most recent ticket # I had created and received a reply in under 24 hours. I will update if/when I get my funds returned.

Fraudulent charges

I have been a customer since 2010 and I am outraged to discover that I was charged 5 times since May 2024 to extend my account through 2035 WITHOUT my knowledge and permission. The autopay was on a credit card that I do regularly check. I see from a search online that many others have had the same issue, and I intend to file claims and reports with the BBB and my credit card company. I submitted a support ticket, and will update here if I receive a response

Voipo, once good, now SCAM

I have been a customer since 2013. Similar to others here, I have been overcharged many times in 2024 (8 so far last one was 2 days ago after opening 2 support cases a couple weeks ago). Support is slow or nonexistent. Have opened BBB complaint & notified Credit Card company of unauthorized charges. Not sure what happened to this company, but I would AVOID at all cost.

Unauthorized billings for 2024

Still no response from Voipo. The last thing I heard from them was you have to wait 30 days, otherwise your ticket will go back to the end of queue, that would have been December 25th. I did get a pissy email from them that said don't call us we'll let you know when your refund is sent.

Unauthorized billings for 2024. When you can get through to them, you get different answers. The first time, the CSR said I should have a refund in about 7 days, and to not contact them again as it will push the request to the bottom of the queue. I was told that the only way to stop the charges from happening automatically was to cancel the account.

So i waited and instead of a refund, I got hit with another charge. Spent the last few days trying to get a hold of a person, but their CSR lines are always busy, and several times the system said we're busy and hung up.

So I filed a response to the first ticket, about the new charge, and there was no reply. Was able to finally get ahold of a live person today, and they said the original waiting period of 7 days was wrong, and it's now 30 days.

Since I inquired on the original ticket, Ticket ID #DXY-107-35402, asking why I was charged again instead of receiving a refund, I was put at the end of the queue and now I have start the waiting process all over again.

The 2nd time I was told that the account was not switched to manual billing and that is why I was charged again.

The unauthorized charges are approximately $925. How does a new complaint on the same ticket force it to the end of the queue? Doesn't even make sense.

What is going on with their management, and why can't they get a handle on this and get it fixed? This is very sloppy billing and bordering on fraud.

Fraudulent charges (4 times $185) and no response

Like many others, I have been fraudulently charged $185 4 times since July with no authorization. I have opened a ticket and waited on the phone with no response and no answer. I am a 10-year customer, but unlikely to be one in the future if this does not get corrected quickly.

Update: I received a refund of the 4 unapproved charges after about 3 weeks. It took calling and waiting nearly an hour for someone to answer.

Unapproved Charges, Zero Support

They've billed over $700 in unapproved charges in the last few months, billing 2 years nearly every month. Opened a support ticket a few weeks ago about the billing and to stop auto billing and while waiting for the refund the support ticket promised they charged another 2 years at $185 to the credit card they said would be taken off file.
Very disappointing, been trying to resolve it but so far little progress with customer support.

Unauthorized Billing, Unresponsive Customer Support

Same as others, I was billed multiple times. I submitted a support ticket over a month ago and was told a refund would be processed. I have not received a refund. I tried to follow up this week and no one answers the phone and the chat system is off-line. You can only send emails that no one responds to.
Fortunately, I blocked them from being able to charge me again. The only problem is that when I called the credit card company they told me that one of my payments cannot be refunded because too much time has passed. So, if this company stays in business, I am paid up until Feb 2029.

WOW, so many experiencing "Billing Errors"

WOW, I didn't realize there are so many other reviewers experiencing the same "Billing Error". I have been charged for renewal of service 5 times this year, with the latest being 10/14/24. I emailed support on 10/21/24 and on 10/22/24 I was assured my account would be refunded or I could extend service. On 10/23/24 I requested a refund of the $230 in over charges. By 11/6/24 with no reply and no refund I wrote again asking for an update and got crickets. On 11/13/24 I filed a complaint with the FCC, Ticket No. 7444472
I'm not sure what happened to this company. I have been a customer since 2014 without any problems until last year when I had the same "Billing Error" but that time it was corrected quickly from one email to support.

Unauthorized charges

Just like many other reviewers, I have been charged for renewal of service 5 times this year, with the latest being three days ago. I called support on 10/24/24 and was assured by account would be refunded, but instead was charged again. I also have two help tickets in, which have not been addressed. Not sure what happened to this company. I have been a customer since 2018 without any problems until this year.

Multiple charges to credit card.

Same as others have reported, we were charged $185 in May, in July, in September, and in October. I opened a ticket (VCV-845-96497) last week but haven't received a response. I've been a customer since 2010. If I don't get a response to the ticket in the next few days, I'll be contacting my credit card company.

Multiple unauthorized charges

Had services since 2021; however, similar to other complaints here, there were 3 unauthorized renewals charged to my credit card in the last few months. There was no response to my support ticket (GRA-154-60266). Live chat does not work and no answer on their 877 number despite 40+ mins hold. I am also not able to remove my payment info on their website.

VOIPo used to be a responsible but …

VOIPo used to be a responsible and responsive business. I have been with them since at least 2011. Sadly, as many others have noted, the company began processing random 2-year renewals this year. During the last 5 months they billed for 4 renewals or a total of 8 years forward. They did this even though I have removed my CC number from my VOIPo account. These complaints are filed by many, at BBB, here and elsewhere. Perhaps VOIPo needs the funds to pay their bills. I have no idea. Nor do I know if they have any staff beyond the CEO. In any event, the complaints seem to get resolved only after public complaints while conveniently ignoring support tickets. Tim, you do not need my name and number. If you processed your support tickets you would find all the people complaining.

EDIT: As of December 20, 2024 - more than 2 months after opening a support ticket with Voipo - they come here to ask for more information. Since the support ticket is still open and not dealt with we have to assume their only interest is dealing with a bad review, not the problem. Time for both of us to move on, Tim! The email sent by Voipo nearly 2 months after the problem said: "Our billing department is experiencing a higher than usual volume of support tickets at this time and our response times are slower than usual." Indeed, if your billing department has not been able to address the support tickets you received two months after the many unauthorized charges I don't want anything to do with your business. Thank you for reaching out.

EDIT # 2: I note that more than six months after my original complaint Voipo continues to receive the same complaints. Sad. I had my credit card company reverse the charges, ported my number and closed my Voipo account. I am a happy customer again. Bye, Tim.
