Either Incompetent or Liars
On October 21, 2025, we purchased a 2020 Lexus RX350 from Volvo Cars Fort Myers. When we got the car home, we noticed a rumble/clunking sound coming from the front right area of the car whenever we went over a bump.
On November 12, 2025, we brought the car into their service department. My husband went for a ride with the mechanic (whose name I don’t have) and the mechanic said he heard it once. He said he looked at the car and discovered nothing.
On November 26, 2025, we brought the car back to their service department because the sound was getting worse. I took a ride with a mechanic named Joe. Joe kept insisting that the noise I was hearing was “road noise.” Then he said he heard the noise once and would put it up on the lift and check it out. He came back to the waiting room soon afterward and informed me there was nothing wrong with the car.
So, I ended up taking the car to Lexus of Sarasota to be looked at. The mechanic immediately heard the noise. He put it on the lift and discovered right away that the right front strut was bad. It had been leaking fluid for “quite a while.” He also said that the sway bar link had leaked all the grease. We authorized the repair. Our car is now riding (and sounding) like we thought a Lexus should. And we are $2,500 poorer.
When we bought the car from Volvo Cars Fort Myers, we were told by Dewayne that it was inspected completely before putting it up for sale. When we brought the car in TWICE to their service department, we were told there was nothing wrong with our car. Therefore, the only conclusions could be:
a.) Volvo Cars Fort Myers has the worst mechanics in the world who don’t recognize the sound of a broken strut (Road noise? Really, Joe?) or what one looks like; or
b.) These mechanics are told to lie so that no money comes out of anyone’s pocket to take care of a car that they obviously sold with a problem.
Greed and deception seem to be the guiding morals of Volvo Cars Fort Myers. I recommend that people stay clear of that dealership.
