After not finding my account information, I contacted Voya Financial many times to get information on my life insurance account, which is through my ex-wifes former employer. I have been paying on th... See more

Worst customer service
They unfortunately lie to their…
They unfortunately lie to their customers making promises they gave no intention of keeping. I was told my check would arrive 9/21. The check did not arrive til 9/28 after I had already ask them to stop payment. I was told direct deposit would be in 3-5 business days. Now they are saying another week. This is poor company practice. When you call, they act like it is coming out of their pockets. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
If I could give less than one star
If I could give less than one star, I would. I’ve been dealing with issues for almost two weeks trying to access my money through a loan, and I still don’t have a straight answer. I’ve been told repeatedly that there are “technical difficulties” and that a ticket was assigned to my account, yet every time I call, I get a completely different explanation.I was recently told this problem affects all State of Michigan employees and that they supposedly found a workaround — but even then, the representatives gave me several different loan amounts that varied drastically. Nothing they say matches, nothing gets resolved, and at this point it’s obvious I cannot trust the information I’m being given.I did file a complaint with the BBB because this situation is unacceptable. No one should have to fight this hard just to access their own money.
They have a no customer call back…
They have a no customer call back policy. You can talk to a operator that can't fix anything. Then they send you to a voicemail that nevers call back. Good luck!
This is one of most terrible companies…
This is one of most terrible companies ever. I was disappointed that my current company did not use fidelity and even more disappointed when I had to use Voya and their "services." I have never dealt with a company that is more interested in their horrible upselling and less interested in providing their client services they want and valuable responses and information in a timely and professional fashion. Is this a company you want to invest your retirement and future in? Absolutely not!

Repeated request for documents after receiving and completed forms were sent and accepted by Voya.
Result to a 90 year old will be probably death before money is sent and Vova keeping thousands.
absolute worst customer service
absolute worst customer service, cannot get a simple answer ... keep having to supply the same information over and over... they are well trained at giving customers the run around...steer clear of them
Do not use this vendor for your investments
After more than five years with Voya, I've decided to consolidate my investments to simplify financial management. Despite multiple calls and submitting all required paperwork, Voya has been unable to resolve a simple account information issue that's delaying my transfer. The process has been frustrating and far slower than with other providers. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Voya.
I have been trying to have my account transferred
I have been trying to have my account transferred to another financial services company for the past month. Customer Service will give you a Task Number and tell you that they will have it done in 5-7 business days, but the catch is that one Task Number will simply roll over into another Task Number with a new 5-7 business day time period. Voya will take your money and give you a modest return, but Heaven help you if you ever want to withdraw it.
I tried to get MY money…
I tried to get MY money from my account. I was told I could do this over the phone, then told I had to wait for paperwork to be mailed and filled out. Then I had to have my husband sign and notarize a form in order to pull money from my account that I've paid into for 37 years... I find that insulting... but fine. Then when I jumped thru all their hoops I was told the entire company plan was on hold for an undetermined amount of time and they didn't know how long it would be before I could get my money. After checking with my company I found out there was no hold and my money was finally released. The entire process took over two and a half weeks. The entire process has been a nightmare.
Extremely Disappointed With Voya and…
Extremely Disappointed With Voya and the Handling of My Retirement Funds
I wish I had known about the experiences other customers have reported before my retirement account was transferred to Voya.
I am currently dealing with an emergency financial situation and attempted to access funds from my retirement account through an emergency withdrawal provision. I followed the required process and submitted the requested documentation.
After speaking with Voya, I was told that I could only access approximately $99, despite previously seeing other amounts listed as potentially available in my account. I was also told that the $99 came from an Employee Before-tax contribution source that had been transferred from my former retirement plan, even though Voya does not currently offer that contribution source.
What has been especially frustrating is the lack of clear and consistent information. I have been given explanations about which funds are available, but I still have not received a clear explanation of why other funds in my account cannot be accessed or which specific plan provision prevents me from accessing them.
This is my retirement money. I understand that retirement plans have rules and restrictions, and I am not asking Voya to ignore those rules. I am asking for transparency, accurate information, and a clear explanation of what I am legally permitted to access under my plan.
Instead, I have been left feeling helpless during a genuine financial emergency, with no meaningful resolution and very little clarity about what is happening with my own account.
After seeing the large number of complaints and overwhelmingly negative reviews associated with Voya, I honestly wish I had researched the company more carefully before my retirement funds were placed with them.
I hope Voya will take situations like this seriously and improve the transparency of its withdrawal processes, customer service, and communication regarding retirement funds.
My biggest concern is simple: I need a clear explanation of why I cannot access funds that appear to be part of my retirement account, and I expect that explanation to be based on the actual terms of my plan rather than vague or conflicting customer-service responses.
The WORST mistake I ever made at my job…
The WORST mistake I ever made at my job was apply for Voya 401k retirement plan. Customer service is trash ,they leave you on hold laughing and joking around while you waiting for an answer. Keep telling me 2 business to get approved it’s have now been 8 business days excluding the weekend. They do mot care about you your account or being urgent about your situation or need yet they are over your money that you are saving
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would.
My experience with Voya Financial has been deeply disappointing. I have been trying to get clear answers about my account and the status of my rollover so I can close my account, but getting in touch with someone who can actually provide answers or resolve the issue has been nearly impossible.
It is extremely frustrating when a company is holding your retirement funds, cannot provide a clear explanation of what is delaying the transaction, and still will not release your money. I should not have to repeatedly follow up just to find out where my funds are and what needs to happen to complete a straightforward rollover. The lack of communication, accountability, and urgency has made this process far more difficult than it should be
Voya customer service is insanely…
Voya customer service is insanely poor--so user unfriendly. Whether its attempting to obtain policy info from their website or trying to speak with an actual human. I've attempted for the last 30 minutes and got absolutely nowhere. Whoever runs their customer service-leadership-needs to be fired and bring people in who have the skills to fix this disaster,
Learing Center Graduates
Took 3 months of working with customer service to rollover my old retirement into my new retirement. They refused to help and often changed my account setting locking me out for doing anything for the entire day. They frequently put me on hold for 5x as long as they "assisted me." They put in an inquiry to their technical team and was told I would receive a call back in 5 to 7 days. 20 days later no phone call and when I called back they stated they called back on the same day. Voya has vibes of The Other guys movie.
Terminated my account on 8/20/26
Terminated my account on 8/20/26. Was supposed to get my check on the 31st or before. I got 9 pages of summary history on the closed account and no check. Tried to navigate the website to find out what happened and was lead in a circle before giving up.
Disgusting lack of customer service
Disgusting lack of customer service. Takes days to get a callback but usually no callback from them.
The story always changes
In January 2026, I received a letter from Voya with a copy of an attached bill saying that they had updated my mailing address and my premium payment was past due. This seemed odd because moved 3 years ago, updated our billing address and had received quarterly billing for over 2 years. It took 4 months to correct their error. In July a get a premium payment reminder for premium due on July 1st. I call them and discover they sent the original bill to the wrong address again. I mail the payment and follow up on line to make sure the payment is received. The payment posted but still showed an outstanding balance of 1.50. So I call. After an hour they tell me they will remove the 1.50 but can’t explain why it appeared. No explanation why the first bill sent to the wrong address. This week a receive a bill for 60.21 for the same billing period. So the 1.50 they said I didn’t owe turned into 60.21 that I had to pay. Another hour on the phone. Can’t explain why it happened. The “mgr” I asked for ,turned out to be a Senior rep, could not reconcile how the amount was calculated agreed to have it reversed but would take 10 day. Refused to put it in writing. Every phone I make is an hour long. Takes forever for them to “review “ the file only to know nothing about my account. So I have re-explain everything every time. The story always changes. One lady told me the billing problems were my fault because I didn’t set up auto pay. Another employee said I was making a big deal overly only $60.00 bill. They are the worst.
Voya not transferring funds
Just came here to warn any trying to get their money - crazy hard. They took another company over (One America) and won't match the interest. Now they won't let me take it out. The won't pay what I had a lifetime contract for - and they won't transfer my money. I have missed accrued interest since May. And they "at present time" there's no way of transfering it to another account?!
Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company, what a scam!
My mother was working as a school bus driver for handicap kids.. they sold her a life insurance policy through her job … when she passed they had every excuse in the book to not pay her policy…. I fought as hard as could for her … these vultures are the scum of the earth.. Don’t ever use them.. my warning to good hardworking people…
