We're a small business that runs our large ecommerce website, VOIP PBX (3 instances) and various VPS for Windows instances. We don't remember the last time the server went down. The pricing is excellent, the servers are THE FASTEST and they really offer what they say they will. Any possible negatives? Sort of:
- If you are a non-tech person hoping to have someone handhold you through running a server, forget it. Their service department is what they say they include: Only if the server is having issues with networking on performance related to degraded status. They do NOT offer a managed service for basic VPS. And that's OK. This isn't Shopify or NetSuite.
I'm not sure where all these negative reviews are coming from. Perhaps people thinking they can run an AI/ML or Minecraft server on a $5 VPS like DO offers and not get white-glove service? I'm not saying Vultr is perfect, no hosting provider is. But normally the thing people want the most is for the server to be FAST and AFFORDABLE. That, Vultr delivers on, period.
I’ve been using Vultr for 1 year. I set up OpenVPN server for bypassing the Internet regulation, and with firewall(iptables) forwarding to obtain eMule High ID for file sharing. Vultr is easy to use, support diversity pay methods and support hourly balance deduction. When a node is eliminated, the billing stops. The pricing is cost-effective, so it's suitable for personal use, sometimes short term use.
I was quite satisfied with Vultr's CPU instances for a long time, but the recently released GPU instance has been almost unusable to the point that it could even be considered a scam. I couldn’t perform any meaningful tasks with it and eventually couldn’t use the GPU instance at all. I requested a refund, but it was denied.
We started with Vultr as a startup and have continued using them now for over 7 years, to build and operate enterprise-grade integrated web and mobile applications.
Vultr was by far the best option for us due to its quick and simple setup and deployment with low maintenance. Also, the costs have always been predictable and affordable in comparison to other options such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. We've never encountered the need to switch in all this time, despite dealing with complex business and regulatory requirements.
I highly recommend Vultr to anybody looking for a cloud-service provider. We have not had any issues with them at all and are extremely happy customers.
Be extra careful, they are thieves: they will take your debit information, then prevent you from logging in, and charge sum you haven't agreed to without you being able to logging back in.
Why so many bad reviews? I realy have a good experience with Vultr. The services, support, all good nothing wrong. There were always server issues, but that's fine. I using Vultr since my game have 0 install and now it has 45m installs and I still use Vultr. For database, rest api, even for realtime multiplayer server.
I’ve been using Vultr for nearly a year and have two high performance VPS running from the London data centre . I've only had to contact support once and that was just a simple query I had and they replied answering within 10 minutes. Everything works really well and I’m happy. Wish they were a little cheaper when you scale up your server resources. But fast and good uptime so I can’t really complain.
I have been using your Tokyo service since 2015.
In general, the service provided what I needed and the supports were all together good. However, the problem I have been running into most often is the speed. Its speed sometimes fast, but other times it's just unbearably slow! When it happens, the MTR reports show that out of Tokyo the routes are having a lot of packets loss. It seems your network routings are not always stable!
Been using this service for almost 10 years now. Never had problem with uptime.
The servers are not bad. I understand that the connection is affected by our local network in China. But it would be great if vultr can improve the connection from China, just like old Linode Tokyo servers. Perhaps you may improve Korea and Tokyo connections first.
Generally, vultr servers are good, the prices and customer service. I recommend them. I have been using vultr for years. Thanks!
Great service, but room for improvement
I’ve been using Vultr for our developments for a while, and I’m very satisfied with the performance and stability of the instances. It’s a solid platform that fits our needs well, and we use it across multiple projects.
A couple of improvements I’d love to see: the ability to move instances between zones would be really helpful for easier resource management and optimization. Also, having a data center in Argentina would be fantastic, as it would allow us to reduce latency and pay in pesos, which would be very convenient for us.
Thank you, Vultr, for your service!
Overall a good company, servers in AU are fast and you can't beat their customer service team - although it's email only, they are fast to reply to any issues. I just wish they offered a managed service option.
Highest security, continous updates, great service and 100% uptime. A huge online documentation and lot of on-site articles to learn and apply.
Amazing service. The prices are good. Flexible payment paradigm.
Easy to setup a server of your choice within 5 minutes.
I've been with Vultr for years now, and have always found it to be a great service at great prices with great support!
no issues despite the 1 star reviews
I only use their services to host a small website, syncthing & tor relay. I've been with them for about 7 years - cheap, fairly good bandwidth and fairly good support. I like that you can also upload custom ISOs - so I played a bit with unikernels. Can't complain but I've seen some of the one star reviews so YMMV.
Good prices, good and reliable platform, many choices (for example many Linux flavours)
As a full-stack developer, I’ve been working with Vultr for nearly seven years, and I’m planning to expand even further. If you’re looking to misuse services, please look elsewhere. However, if you’re a professional in need of advanced capabilities, this is the right place for you.

We have been Vultr customers for at least 5 years now, and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Pricing is great, service is fabulous, downtime is pretty much non-existent. All the things you want from a host.
I have had a relatively great experience with Vultr. I only host one mail and web server and have been a customer for years. Only problem I had was an IP that I had on a their Chicago data center location was causing email to be refused by a few random hosts. Just moved my server a couple of month's ago to their New Jersey data center and I have a clean IP that seems to work well.
