The communication was okay, they performed the work they promised and eventually we got the apartment we wanted. However, there was no attention to detail and it was quite clear that our agent (Martine) just wanted us to sign off asap on any apartment we would show her. Next time I would definitely hire an experienced agent even if it costs more, so they can at least attend the viewings with us and give honest opinion about the houses, not just “that’s a great find” on literally every property.

The most disappointing part was technical inspection. Due to the lack of experience, we trusted the Walter Living to perform/hire someone professional. The technical inspection report was basically “perfect” on paper, no things to repair/change. What we ended up discovering a couple of months after moving in was 1) The fire alarm not working with an expiration date (written on it) being 2015. 2) The heat recovery system requires ducts cleaning asap.

So overall, they deliver what they promise, but done hastily.

The Walter living team was really helpful in the whole process of buying a house. My salary just allowed me to be in a competitive price market for huis, so it was really difficult.

Steven navigated us between this crazy market and gave us really good advice while we had more than 5 bids rejected because other bids were even higher (overbid). He shows us the way to do to get a house in a reasonable amount, and not crazily overbid way more than the house evaluation.

Walterliving's data-driven and down-to-earth approach made the entire process comfortable for me. Working with Steven from Walterliving was fantastic; I received all the support I needed. Before contacting Walter I tried bidding myself. I should have probably contacted them earlier - this would have saved me some disappointments.
Walter's approach is data driven and very, very down to earth. This made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process.
Working with Walter (Steven) is great - I got all the support I needed. My questions were answered quickly, concerns resolved professionally and timely. I'm not even going to start about the legal documents in Dutch - my anxiety would have taken the better of me if it were not for him.
If needed, I would use their services again and I cannot recommend them enough!

Downsides:
The agent was not present in person on any of the steps (that was fine with me).
It is quite difficult to book a call quickly because there are not many slots, so most of the time you have to communicate via email.

Upsides:
The valuation report and technical inspection is included in the price, which takes a lot off your shoulders. You only need to handle mortgage yourself.
The email responses are quick and detailed, all my stupid questions were answered and I felt confident and informed throughout the entire process.
The trickiest part is bidding and a web app makes that task a lot less magical. You can see what is taken into account, how the final prices are calculated, and even make changes yourself. It was very nice.

Overall it was a great experience and Steven made buying an apartment a fun and exciting journey.

Very professional agent who helped a lot to understand the Dutch way of real estate. Steven was always available with good ideas and another sight on the object. Walter also gave good advice on the bidding system, on the house with an excellent expert. It is absolutely worth this investment!

Short: Great service especially for first-time buyers. Package deal for start-to-end support amortizes itself quickly.

Detailed: I got to know Walter Living through the browser add-on "Betrap de Makelaar". When my plans to purchase a home became more serious, I signed up for "Buy with Walter" - an all-inclusive service package that helps buyers to place a reasonable bid on a property and includes help for the several follow-up action once a bid was accepted (appraisal, inspection, contract check-up etc.).

The price for the package is competitive with purchase agents (i.e. fees are lower). However, you do not get access to the "Coopan" platform or other "under the radar" options to get to know property placements before they appear on Funda and the likes. It depends on the (housing) market situation whether this is something you can do without or not.

The data-driven price finder helps to get a good idea of a price range for your desired property. The model price will be reviewed by a human before a bid is actually placed. In my opinion (but again, this may depend on the market situation) through this you likely save more than Walter's fee when placing a bid.

Staff is very friendly and hard-working: Often I received answers to questions after-hours and on the weekend. Response time is very good, you never have the feeling to be left alone.

I can recommend "Buy with Walter" as a solid alternative to buying agents. I just purchased my home with their help and would use the service again if I were to make another purchase in the future.

Very useful report. I haven’t ended up using their service for helping me create a bid for buying a house but I am sure that would be very useful if you want to make a rational choice on how much to offer for a house.
