Disappointed by WANDRD – EU customers, know your rights

I recently ordered a PRVKE V3 21L MultiCam Black Photo Bundle from wandrd.eu (the EU-facing site of the US brand WANDRD), with shipping from their Dutch warehouse. Unfortunately, the backpack turned out to be incompatible with my gear, so I requested a return within the legal 14-day window.

According to EU Directive 2011/83 and reinforced by the Rome I and Rome II Regulations, sellers — even if based outside the EU — must comply with mandatory EU consumer rights when selling to EU customers. This includes the obligation to refund all payments received, including the original shipping cost, when a customer exercises the right of withdrawal (Article 13(1)).

WANDRD’s return policy explicitly excludes the refund of outbound shipping (€9.95), which directly contradicts this EU legal requirement. I accepted to pay the return shipping myself (€36), even though it was quite expensive, because EU rules allow sellers to leave that cost to the consumer. But refusing to refund the original shipping wasn’t acceptable — not because of the amount, but because it's a matter of principle and legal consumer rights.

After a polite request and then a PayPal dispute, they eventually refunded the €9.95 — but only as a “one-time exception.” Before doing so, they sent me a message warning that if I didn’t cancel the dispute, it would be treated as “fraudulent activity,” and that I would be banned from shopping with them again.
Honestly, I found this message intimidating — it felt like an attempt to pressure me into dropping the claim, even though I was simply exercising my legal rights as a consumer.

In the end, they did ban me, despite the fact that I acted respectfully and stayed within my rights the entire time. I’ve always liked WANDRD’s brand and their products, but this experience was genuinely disappointing.

If you're a customer in the EU, be aware that even brands with a good reputation might not fully respect your rights unless you stand your ground — and sometimes, you’ll pay the price for doing so.

I'm sorry it appears you had such a difficult time purchasing from us. This is definitely not a normal experience purchasing from WANDRD. Most of our emails are actually people praising how great our customer service is or how easy we made something! We've proudly sold to our rad customers in the EU for over a decade now, and have never had any issues with this in the past. After investigating this, it appears we are following all regulations for selling within the EU as a US based company, in line with the laws you've stated.

On the point you made about you filing a dispute, all disputes done through Paypal are automatically considered fraudulent. We take great care to ensure our customers are taken care of, and chargebacks not only effect our standing with financial institutions, but we're also heavily fined for them. Over 48 billion dollars of chargeback fraud effected ecommerce businesses in 2024. While chargebacks at WANDRD are fortunately very rare, almost 100% of the time they're initiated is because of someone's card information being stolen. So, we always treat them with the utmost seriousness to ensure our customer's information is 100% secure. We never want anyone's info at risk and take great measures to prevent all fraud, including not allowing accounts with chargebacks to purchase again.

All that being said, I'm glad we were able to get you a full refund for your return. I'm sorry that your gear didn't work out for you, so that's why our team recommended purchasing locally in the future, rather than online. That way you can always ensure your gear will work in person. Either way, sorry your experience didn't turn out like most rad WANDRD experiences we see, and I hope you have a better day.

I had the original PRVKE backpack for 7 years, amazing bag, versatile, durable, useful for so many different setups. After so many years a corner of my main zipper gave out, and I got a replacement backpack in under 2 hours (claim - approval - shipped), amazing!

Great Products, Even Greater Customer Service

I have backed Wandrd twice on Kickstarter - the first for the Prvke, and the second for the Duo Daypack.
This review will be about the Duo Daypack.

Ever since I received the Duo Daypack in 2019, it has been my go-to for every situation. Not only does it have a securely padded and collapsible camera pocket, it has so many organizational pockets and pouches throughout the interior. Recently, the interior of the bag has started to break - the rigid plastic lining maintaining the shape of the bag snapped. I contacted Wandrd about this and they provided me with a promo code for a new bag. Even though the Duo Daypack is discontinued, the promo code was for any of the other Wandrd products. Though I am quite disheartened at my favorite bag being discontinued, I am very pleased with how Wandrd treated my case and look forward to another (at least) 6 years of using their products. Thank you Wandrd team!

Great product and great customer…

Great product and great customer support
I have been using the Prkve backpack almost daily for the past 4 years and this is by far one of the best backpack I have ever owned. That being said a weird appeared in it and I had to do a warranty claim : it was superfast, super efficient and the customer service was nice.
All that to say, you get good products and if there's anything with it, they literraly have your back !

Fits all my gear

Bought my first Wandrd Pvke in 2019 and just love it so much! The bagpack is fully customisable and fits all of my gear easily. It looks great, feels great and I’m just so happy to have invested in this. When some zippers failed I filled out a warranty claim and it got replaced super fast and easy. I will always buy a Wandrd camera bag!

Lifetime Waranty is great

I had a zip problem with my PRVKE 31 1st generation, which I use every day and which also follows me on a trip. I explained my situation to the WANDRD team and they kindly accepted the lifetime warranty on this product. Life time Warranty / Prvke

I bought the Prvke bag (oct 2020) and the Transit Travel Backpack (Juli 2024) both work perfect for me. Last month I had a problem with 2 Zippers of the biggest compartment of the Prvke bag.
I sent a claim and it was fully covered by the lifetime Warranty.
I got a complete new Prvke bag. Perfect!

Very happy with the warranty coverage

WANDER MORE WORRY LESS - a true story.

Company doesn’t care about the customers

I haven’t received the product yet, but the experience so far shows me that the company doesn’t really care about the customers, just about selling the products.
I ordered a new years gift and made sure to check estimated delivery which was set for Dec 30. The website also says items ship within 1-3 days.
When I haven’t gotten a shipment confirmation after 3 days I reached out to customer support, which are very polite but kind useless cuz they themselves wrote to me that they emailed the concerned department but haven’t heard back.
Result - my item shipped a week later and is now late.

Frankly, don’t care about the bags any more.

- Our shipping FAQ says that our orders ship in 1-3 *business days*, with up to 4 business days during holidays and busy seasons.
- You ordered right before a weekend, and the Christmas holiday, and we don't ask our warehouse employees to work on the weekends or holidays. We value them too much to separate them from their families all the time and value a healthy work/life balance.
- Your order shipped on the 4th business day after you purchased, so while I understand you may have expected it faster, it still shipped within the timeframe we stated.
- It's also shipping all the way from Chicago IL to Dubai, so that shipping alone is going to take a very long time.
- We had several banners on our website that mentioned to please submit orders by the 14th of December to ensure it will arrive in time for Christmas, and I'm sorry that you emailed in stating that we ruined your New Years because of this.
- I'm sorry that it didn't arrive to you in time from what you wanted, so we'll try to see what we can do to make the shipping estimates more clear in the future.
