no water in D7 area 25.03.26

There was no water on 25.03 in D7 area and I phoned Irish Water only to be told that they were doing a SCHEDULED maintenance in the area.
Nothings been said to residents, no form of communication whatsoever, an absolute rubbish of a service and that crowd is being paid from our t axes. I don't care about giving you my phone number, how much it would cost to print small leaflets and distribute in mailboxes?
Why you are so lazy as a company?

Waste of public money

This company is very badly managed and it is a waste for Irish taxpayers.
Irish water made a mistake with my business account a while back and created a second account which I was getting billed for.
Since then I have just found out how terrible this company is and, every time I call I discover more and more issues.
The latest on is that there hasn't been an official meter reading for my unit since 2019. Despite there should be one mandatory one every year.
Basically all the bills are estimated and, when I requested to send someone to take a official reading, they initially refuse because getting an engineer over is too espensive.
I bet that those engineers have been paid for their annual visits to read water meters despite dodging the task for 7 years now.
Great job Irish Water. The senior management must be pleased of their performance in running this company.... the paycheck at the end of each month and probably their bonuses too. Congrats

One star is too much

One star is too much. The water system is a shambles. Regularly have water outages in our town. And now they are building more houses. Irish waters solution, to have water trucks almost daily filling an old water tower in the town. Irish solution to an Irish problem. They are an absolute disgrace. The big bosses of Irish water are on big money. But you are told it's a money issue getting the problem solved. Like most important organizations in this country it's a pure disgrace.

Uisce Éireann made a massive billing…

Uisce Éireann made a massive billing error on my account and wrongly took over €4,500 from my bank. They admitted the mistake, issued a corrected bill for about €200, and yet still took the wrong amount.

What followed was days of emails, being passed from person to person, contradictory information, and endless delays. I confirmed the refund amount and authorised the transfer early in the day, waited all day, and was then told at the end of the day that it was being “passed to another department”.

I was then told the refund would be processed “shortly”, only to be informed later that it could take up to 14 days to return money that was taken in error. Meanwhile, I had bills due and no access to my own money.

No urgency. No accountability. No ownership of the mistake. Just apologies and excuses.

This level of incompetence and indifference to the financial impact on customers is unacceptable. If you value your time, your money, or your sanity, be prepared for a fight if they make a mistake — because they certainly won’t rush to fix it.

Joke of a Company

Horrible company to deal with from start to finish. I waited many months to get my new water connection. I was told that after I paid the fee I would need to wait 16 weeks. I waited nearly 24 weeks and spent weeks been told that the work was with a contractor and not with irish water. Basically just passing me off between the 2 for weeks without giving me any date when the connection would be done.

I then told Irish water i wanted to make a complaint and got a call from the complaints manager. She told me that I had received a call from her colleague with a connection date, which I had not. She was very confused and told me she would review the matter and mail me back. In the meantime to my surprise I got connected? No notice or update from irish water that they were coming out. Then a few days later I got an email from the confused complaints manager stating that I would have to make do with a connection date in the future. I had a good laugh when I got that mail as I was already connected. This company does not know its ass from its elbow.

They communicate well unlike ESB

One of the few utility suppliers in Ireland who actually communicate with customers when they plan work.

I know others have had problems with them, but personally they have been good at updating us when work was planned, or there may be water supply disruption.

Completely disenchanted.

Irish water carried out a simple mains repair on the roadway at the front of my home on the 22nd of June 2025 where I have lived for 45 years. The contractor employed by Irish water in Donegal was utilised to carry out the repairs on behalf of Irish water. In doing so the roadway, hedging and trees at point of repairs were completely destroyed. The roadway is unsafe for pedestrians as a result of the damage. During the repairs a fire hydrant sign was removed and the hydrant cover was obliterated. I made a complaint to Irish Water on the 4th July 2025 and received a reply on the 13th July reference number 9652866291 informing me that the customer care team would investigate my complaint. I did not receive any further correspondence from Irish Water and I again wrote to Irish Water on the 2nd of October begging them to alleviate the problem. Irish Water have not acknowledged this letter. I am left in Limbo and I myself am unable to carry out repairs on the roadway as the said roadway is the property of the local authority, Donegal Co Co and I am legally prevented from interfering with local authority property. It’s with a heavy heart I have to write such a review about an Irish company who advertise their credentials on Irish television on a daily basis.

Absolute shambles

Absolute shambles. Foreign kids put on the phones to regurgitate lies to the customers. (I actually pay for my water.) Not fair on these kids. They must take dogs abuse while the upper tiers are immune. Found a 2000 per day leak. It was ignored. Told that they cannot go onto private property.

if i could give a minus i would

if i could give a minus i would. the customer service level is beyond atrocious, almost 1 year (aug 24) of their burst water main outside my house causing damage to my property, countless phone calls (always an empty promise) countless emails and letters sent, and still i am waiting and being promised when they answer the phone that someone will come out to asses the damage. the stress this has caused me is horrendous. Another email sent today, i wonder will i even get a response and another empty promise.
